Like most of you, I’ve been spending my time in quarantine wondering ‘what if?’ What if I could go to hot yoga today? What if my favorite restaurant didn’t close down? What if I could still go on that trip to Mexico City next week? What if Hillary Clinton had won the election in 2016, the federal government didn’t cover up the severity of the pandemic for two months, and New York City hadn’t become an open-air morgue? You know, just some light musings to start the day. It’s that last hypothetical that’s inspired a large portion of my quarantine...

The notoriously high prison population in the US is starting to decline – so why is the number of jailed women rising? On her daughter’s wedding day in 2003, Anisah Sabur-Mumin was in the third year of a four-year prison sentence for a variety of drug offences. She phoned her partner for news on the wedding and was sobbing down the line when she was summoned to start her shift working in the prison kitchens. As she hung up, a guard asked her what was wrong. After Sabur-Mumin repeatedly insisted she was fine and didn’t want to talk about it, the...

Take it from me and every other girl who was ever unceremoniously dumped in college: be careful about cutting bangs, especially if you’re feeling lonely, sad or stressed. A bold change in your look after weeks of wearing sweatpants might feel like the change you need right now, but bangs are notoriously tricky to get right if you don’t have professional styling experience. “It...

MADISON — Following an outcry from furious communities of faith, Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers issued a press release Thursday clarifying his administration’s earlier “clarifications” banning outdoor church services. Evers press release, according to the governor’s office was sent to “reiterate” that “churches and religious entities are considered essential” and that they can conduct outdoor services in “parking lots with congregants staying in cars, avoiding person-to-person contact.” That’s a reversal from what local health departments around the state have been telling places of worship based on guidance from the Evers administration. Menu Posted on April 10, 2020April 10, 2020 by Msgr. Charles Pope Where is Jesus and What is He Doing Between His Death and Resurrection? Where is Christ after He dies on Friday afternoon and before He rises on Easter Sunday? Both Scripture and Tradition answer this question. Consider the following excerpt from a second century sermon as well as this meditation from the Catechism of the Catholic Church.Ancient Homily for Holy Saturday (ca. 2nd century A.D.):Today a great silence reigns on earth, a great silence and a great stillness. A great silence because the King is asleep. The...

John 20:1-10 (KJV) 1The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. 2Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the LORD out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. 3Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre. 4So they ran both together: and the other disciple did out run Peter, and came first to...

The services of Holy Week and Pascha will be celebrated in the parishes and monasteries of the Greek Orthodox Church, according to a new Joint Ministerial Decision from Greece’s Ministries of Education and Health published on Monday, according to Greek Reporter. After the Greek state first initiated quarantine measures, the Greek Church agreed to reduce its schedule to include only the Divine Liturgy, for one hour on Sundays. However, this was not strict enough for the state, which responded by prohibiting all services except in the Archdiocesan cathedral in Athens. The Holy Synod of the Greek Church then petitioned the...

The petition, started by Josh Powell reads: Recall Governor Whitmer. Her failure’s during the Covid-19 Corona Virus is causing more Michiganders to get sick. Closing and banning various non essential business’s and activities while leaving others open. Further promoting the pandemic. She has lied since day one with her #Fixthedamnroads which she has failed to do anything in this regards. The response to #PFAS was negligence and completely removing funding for #PureMichigan clearly shows her lack of anything positive for the State of Michigan. You can visit the petition here.

I can think of nothing more inhumane than letting dangerous people wander around our neighborhoods, based on a claim that maybe, just maybe they could contract COVID 19 in the detention center."

I have been surprised over the last few years as Bill Gates has risen to the forefront of the fight against viruses and diseases like Coronavirus. As a repeat user of Bill Gates company (Microsoft) products and services, I was interested to know what he believes. After some study of the organizations he supports and his upbringing, I was shocked at what I found. Bill Gates is a proponent of population control. Like many of the elites at the top, Bill’s views are mainstream. In a 2010 Ted Talk, Bill Gates presented a plan to reduce world CO2 production by...

During the past fortnight South Africa has seen a dramatic, and unexpected slow-down in the daily rate of coronavirus infections. Health experts are warning that it is far too early to see this as a significant development, and worry that it could even trigger a dangerous sense of complacency. President Cyril Ramaphosa has now suggested that the two weeks of lockdown is responsible. He has extended the nationwide restrictiions, scheduled to end in one week's time, to the end of the month. But - as the country and the continent continue to brace for the potentially devastating impact of the...
