On Friday Govenor Andrew Cuomo announced he will sign an executive order to allow New York State to take ventilators and PPE from facilities who aren't in urgent need of them and disperse them to facilities who are harder hit. The majority of the COVID-19 cases are in New York City and the surrounding counties.  The State will be mobilizing the National Guard to pick up and distribute supplies to and from hospitals in need. Cuomo said resources will be shifted all across the state depending on the need of the equipment and PPE.  "I am signing an Executive Order...

Ira Einhorn, the notorious convicted murderer known as the “Unicorn Killer,” died of natural causes early Friday while in state prison, authorities said. His death was not related to the coronavirus, Susan McNaughton, a state Department of Corrections spokesperson, wrote in an email. Einhorn, 79, was being housed at the State Correctional Institution-Laurel Highlands in Somerset County. He died at 4:23 a.m., McNaughton said. Einhorn was found guilty of killing his girlfriend, Holly Maddux, in 1977 and stuffing her body into a trunk that he kept in his Powelton apartment for 18 months. In 1981, just before his trial, he...

There are nine confirmed cases of coronavirus among Los Angeles’ homeless population, said Barbara Ferrer, director of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, at her Thursday media briefing. This is up from five the day before and comes as the city and county attempt to more aggressively test in places like skid row. Ferrer said it was challenging to know exactly where in the county these homeless people had been, but so far there had been no clustering of cases. She said there had been cases at two shelters but didn’t reveal their names or locations. The Times...

"Allow US individuals to use Hydroxychloroquine as a preventative for Covid-19, open the country, and go back to work. Currently, thousands of people all over the world are taking Hydroxychloroquine as a preventative to Covid-19, including India, Spain, and many other countries. US medical workers are taking it as a preventative as well. Every non-contraindicated US person should be able to decide for themselves whether to try this or not, on a voluntary basis. The President should use the DPA to require US drug manufacturers to make all of the Hydroxychloroquine possible. High-volume facilities should be set up, with Doctors...
  • Democrat NYC nurses: Andrew Cuomo led ‘drive to close down hospital beds

“I would call Governor Cuomo probably the single most important person in terms of the drive to close down hospital beds in this state over the last 20 years,” Petty said. “In New York state, we have gone from 73,000 beds to 53,000 beds from the year 2000 to the present time. So, specifically because of policies that Governor Cuomo has pursued, we are now 20,000 beds behind where we need to be in terms of trying to scale up our capacity to these unprecedented levels.”

The new "Mass in Time of Pandemic," published on April 1 by the Vatican's Congregation for Divine Worship, has been stripped of all references to the "wrath of God." The liturgy, approved by Pope Francis, eliminates all prayers emphasizing "repentance" — references which abound in the "Recordare domine testamenti" [Remember, Lord, thy covenant] votive Mass — composed and used for deliverance from pestilences since the Black Plague in the mid-14th century. Old "Mass for Deliverance from Death in Time of Pestilence" In the decree authorizing the new Mass, Cdl. Robert Sarah, prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship, explained that...

A scientific paper claims that humans acquired COVID-19 from a Chinese research lab, and not a food market. But instead of having the paper peer reviewed, they are trying to suppress it. One of the great things about science is the peer review process. When one group of scientists comes to a conclusion, other groups of scientists are allowed to peer review the work of the original group, to try to determine whether or not the original research has merit. This link, which no longer works, used to show a scientific paper: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/339070128_The_possible_origins_of_2019-nCoV_coronavirusFortunately, the internet archive still has the paper at this...

The incident is a dramatic outburst of a simmering controversy that has major global ramifications, as China is claiming sovereignty over one of the most important shipping lanes in the world. Chinese officials denied responsibility for the collision, which took place Thursday. “The Vietnamese boat refused to leave and suddenly veered sharply towards the Chinese vessel,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said Friday. “Despite its best efforts to keep clear, the Coast Guard vessel was struck at the bow. The Vietnamese fishing boat then took in water and sank.”

Dennis Johnson fell victim last week to a new form of harassment known as "Zoombombing," in which intruders hijack video calls and post hate speech and offensive images such as pornography. It's a phenomenon so alarming that the FBI has issued a warning about using Zoom. Like many people these days, Johnson is doing a lot of things over the Internet that he would normally do in person. Last week, he defended his doctoral dissertation in a Zoom videoconference. He had a big audience — he estimated it was about 40 people, including "my closest friends, family and my classmates...

One of the most pivotal events in salvation history is the exodus from Egypt. The Israelites were trapped in the bondage of slavery in Egypt when God called Moses to free them. God said to Moses, “…’I have witnessed the affliction of my people in Egypt and have heard their cry of complaint against their slave drivers, so I know well what they are suffering. Therefore I have come down to rescue them … and lead them out of that land into a good and spacious land …” (Exodus 3:7-8). What’s fascinating about God’s emancipation of the Israelites is the...

The joy of Easter is almost here, but before that we must accompany Jesus in his Passion. Traditionally the final two weeks of Lent in the Roman Rite are used as an immediate preparation for the sorrowful events of the Easter drama. It is a period of time to focus more and more on the Passion and death of Jesus and so accompany him on his way to Calvary. For several centuries the Fifth Sunday of Lent was known as “Passion Sunday” and marked the beginning of a special sub-season called Passiontide, which extended up until Holy Saturday. During this...
  • Coronavirus: CNN's Cillizza Avoids History to Claim Trump Rewrites History

CNN's Chris Cillizza has a problem. In order for him to claim that President Donald Trump is "rewriting history" concerning his handling of the coronavirus outbreak, he has to avoid an important chunk of that history. The irony is that it turns out that Cillizza himself is the one that is rewriting history by failing to report on a important decision by Trump early in the outbreak that significantly reduced the number of coronavirus cases in the United States during the early stages. Cillizza found it so urgent to make his claim about rewriting history that he wrote two stories...

Federal Prisons Ignore Terrorist Risk Federal Prisons Ignore Terrorist Risk The Bureau of Prisons, the same organization that was responsible for the safekeeping of Jeffrey Epstein, is back in the news again. This week, our Corruption Chronicles blog reports that the agency is failing to adequately monitor the communications of prisoners with terrorist ties. Additionally, the bureau failed to fulfill the FBI’s request for lists of convicts with terrorist ties who were set to be released. The nation’s federal prison system is supposed to keep America safe by, among other things, monitoring all social communications of high-risk inmates, especially...

As much as we've all been preoccupied with Coronavirus on this site, I wanted to take a minute to remind everyone that there's still an election happening this November. Trust me, the Democrats HAVE NOT forgotten! On the GOP side, we have many talented and capable candidates and incumbents. The challengers out there could really use a donation. Which ones? It's up to you of course. I can easily recommend a few if need be but chances are, you already know of some. Have you heard of the pro-Dem PAC EMILY'S List? EMILY stand for Early Money Is Like Yeast....

In his bid to win the position of Director-General for the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was playing a nice technocrat. At every venue and opportunity, he presents himself as a humble, smiley and caring and humanitarian who loses sleep over the state of world health. But his 12-page campaign CV never mentions his most important experience that made it possible for him to climb the ladder of power within the tyrannical regime oppressing and misruling Ethiopia. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, as well as being the first WHO director without a medical degree, also has a somewhat political...

Kentucky is taking severe measures to ensure residents exposed to the coronavirus stay at home. Louisville residents who have been in contact with coronavirus patients but refuse to isolate themselves are being made to wear ankle bracelets. A judge has ordered one resident to stay at home after refusing to self-quarantine. CNN affiliate WDRB reports that the person, identified as D.L. in the court order, is living with "someone who has tested positive for the illness and another person who is a presumptive case," according to an affidavit from Dr. Sarah Moyer, director of the health department. Having been exposed...

Terrified by the coronavirus, Liz and Ken Frydman fled their apartment in Manhattan for the relative safety of their country house in Connecticut. Then the heating system failed, and they called the local fuel company. “‘Oh, you guys are from New York,’ ” the manager said. The Frydmans assured him their family was virus-free. But the manager agreed to send someone only after they promised that the furnace could be accessed through a cellar door, without entering the main house. “My workers are very leery of New Yorkers,” he said. In the fickle calculus of what defines fashionable, New Yorkers have...
