On Friday Govenor Andrew Cuomo announced he will sign an executive order to allow New York State to take ventilators and PPE from facilities who aren't in urgent need of them and disperse them to facilities who are harder hit. The majority of the COVID-19 cases are in New York City and the surrounding counties.  The State will be mobilizing the National Guard to pick up and distribute supplies to and from hospitals in need. Ira Einhorn, the notorious convicted murderer known as the “Unicorn Killer,” died of natural causes early Friday while in state prison, authorities said. His death was not related to the coronavirus, Susan McNaughton, a state Department of Corrections spokesperson, wrote in an email. There are nine confirmed cases of coronavirus among Los Angeles’ homeless population, said Barbara Ferrer, director of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, at her Thursday media briefing. This is up from five the day before and comes as the city and county attempt to more aggressively test in places like skid row.
