  • Vanity: Medical Professionals who can't get COVID-19 Testing Done for Patients

    VANITY
VANITY post. Please add your own and I hope someone 'in charge' reads this. A number of my doctor friends are telling me this: 1. Patient A goes to a primary care doctor with flu-like symptoms. Fever, cough, etc. and tests negative for the flu. They had just returned from international travel. Tells staff to request a coronavirus test. Told "patient doesn't qualify" UNLESS he or she has been to one of the specified countries (Italy, China, Iran) or has been near a specific person that has tested positive. 2. Patient B. Back from a cruise. Flulike symptoms. Not to...

  • Idaho bill outlaws abortion if Roe v. Wade is reversed

BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Senate has approved legislation making abortion a crime should the U.S. Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade, the ruling establishing abortion rights nationwide. The Senate voted 27-7 Thursday to approve the measure that includes exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother. Under the measure, criminal punishment would apply to the person performing the abortion, not the woman. A reversal of Roe would mean abortion policy would revert to the states.

In the identity politics world of the progressive left, everything is racist. Using the pseudo-concept of intersectionality, all grievance groups overlap, except the groups of white, male, Christian, and heterosexual. The intersectionality of those four groups represents the ultimate in racism and bigotry, the scourge of civilization. In this mindset, it makes perfect sense for inanimate objects to be labeled as racist. For example, a “black hole” is now considered by some to be a racist term. Perhaps we should use “singularity,” since it’s so much easier for the average person to understand. Cold weather, air, dogs, solar eclipses, and...

The hosts of the Discovery Channel’s Diesel Brothers have been fined $851,451 for selling modified pickups that violate Utah law and the federally recognized Clean Air Act. Friday’s court documents stipulate that David “Heavy D” Sparks, Joshua Stuart, Keaton Hoskins, and “Diesel Dave” Kiley pay $761,451 to the U.S. government with the remaining $90,000 going to Davis County in Utah. The group has already been found guilty of removing particulate filters and exhaust recirculation systems on the cars used for the television program.

The world is in a state of paranoia currently as nations try to combat the spread and effect of the coronavirus. Italy is facing the worst of the crisis right now and its medical system has descended into a state of chaos, according to news reports about the situation there. One doctor who is treating patients there likened the situation to treating patients in a battlefield, like Vietnam or the aftermath of the attacks on Pearl Harbor and having to make split-second decisions on which patients will be treated and which ones will be denied care after a quick triage....

Joy Behar, co-host of ABC’s “The View,” is taking some leave due to concerns over the coronavirus, Variety reported Thursday. Behar, 77, reportedly announced that she would be taking time off from the show at a Thursday taping of an episode that will run Friday. Like several other live shows, "The View" has chosen to not allow studio audiences until the spread of the virus subsides. “I’m in a higher risk group because of my age, but I’m perfectly healthy,” Behar said. “I don’t look my age, but I’m actually up there. The number makes me dizzy.” SNIP ABC did...

"Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen'" (Matt. 6:9-15). Jesus gave six elements that constitute true prayer. Many people have memorized the Disciples' Prayer so they can recite it often, but as beautiful as...

The Spring Grand Sumo Tournament, set to open next weekend, will be held behind closed doors for the first time in history due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, the sport's governing body said Sunday. The Japan Sumo Association's board of directors made the decision in an extraordinary session in Osaka. Having already ruled out the possibility of staging the 15-day meet under normal conditions, the JSA weighed whether to hold the event at Edion Arena Osaka behind closed doors or call it off completely. While grand sumo tournaments have been canceled twice in the past, JSA Chairman Hakkaku said the...

The novel coronavirus and the SARS outbreak of 2003 have two things in common: Both are from the coronavirus family, and both most likely started in wet markets. At such markets, outdoor stalls are squeezed together to form narrow lanes, where locals and visitors shop for cuts of meat and ripe produce. A stall selling caged chickens may abut a butcher counter, where meat is chopped as nearby dogs watch hungrily. Some vendors hock hares, while seafood stalls display glistening fish and shrimp.

Disney on Thursday announced it will be closing Disneyland and California Adventure Park from Saturday through the end of the month as cases of the novel coronavirus continue to rise in Southern California and nationwide. ---SNIP--- The move was made shortly after Gov. Gavin Newsom issued an executive order calling for the cancelation of large, non-essential public gatherings in California, though he exempted theme parks and casinos from the directive. "After carefully reviewing the guidelines of the Governor of California's executive order and in the best interest of our guests and employees, we are proceeding with the closure of Disneyland...

The Michigan autoworker who confronted White House contender Joe Biden this week on the issue of guns said Biden “went off the deep end” with his crude response, which included insults and threats against the man. The fiery exchange took place at the Fiat-Chrysler auto plant in Detroit which Biden visited on Tuesday. The worker, Jerry Wayne, accused Biden of “actively trying to end our Second Amendment rights,” to which Biden responded saying: “You’re full of sh**!” “I support the 2nd Amendment,” Biden said. “The 2nd Amendment, just like right now if you yell fire, that’s not free speech. • Ohio health official estimates 100,000 people in state have coronavirus

A top health official in Ohio estimated on Thursday that more than 100,000 people in the state have coronavirus, a shockingly high number that underscores the limited testing so far. Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton said at a press conference alongside Gov. Mike DeWine (R) that given that the virus is spreading in the community in Ohio, she estimates at least 1 percent of the population in the state has the virus. "We know now, just the fact of community spread, says that at least 1 percent, at the very least, 1 percent of our population is carrying...

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie are in self-isolation after she fell ill and was tested for the new coronavirus, while school was canceled in Ontario to limit the spread of the outbreak. In a major blow to hockey-obsessed Canadians, the National Hockey League (NHL) suspended the rest of the season due to the outbreak. Health authorities also recommended canceling the World Women’s Curling Championship due to start Saturday in British Columbia. With the Canadian dollar at a four-year low against its U.S. counterpart and stocks plunging globally, the Bank of Canada announced the expansion of its...

Brazil announced Thursday that its president’s press secretary — who recently spent four days in South Florida with a delegation headed by President Jair Bolsonaro — had tested positive for the coronavirus, setting off immediate ripples that reached from South Florida to Washington, D.C. By days’ end Thursday, the mayors of Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami and U.S. Sens. Rick Scott and Lindsay Graham had announced they would self-quarantine; the medical campus of Miami Dade College said it was shutting down “until further notice” — and questions arose whether President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, who...

George Pell looks set to successfully overturn his convictions for child sexual abuse, legal experts have tipped. The High Court of Australia on Thursday reserved its decision following the second and final day of the former Vatican treasurer’s appeal, during which prosecutors were accused of changing their case on the run. Lawyers in attendance later agreed the appeal, against a majority decision in the Victorian Court of Appeal which upheld his convictions, was likely to succeed. University of Melbourne law professor Jeremy Gans, who was in Canberra for the hearing, said yesterday was a “very good day for Pell”. “There’s...
