Since When Are Viruses Racist?
American Thinker.com ^ | March 12, 2020 | Brian C. Joondeph

In the identity politics world of the progressive left, everything is racist. Using the pseudo-concept of intersectionality, all grievance groups overlap, except the groups of white, male, Christian, and heterosexual. The intersectionality of those four groups represents the ultimate in racism and bigotry, the scourge of civilization.

In this mindset, it makes perfect sense for inanimate objects to be labeled as racist. For example, a “black hole” is now considered by some to be a racist term. Perhaps we should use “singularity,” since it’s so much easier for the average person to understand.

Cold weather, air, dogs, solar eclipses, and farmers markets are also considered racist to the woke progressives. So, it’s no surprise that something so small that it cannot be seen with an ordinary microscope is also said to be racist.

I speak of a virus, the “Wuhan virus,” to be specific. Or the “Chinese Coronavirus” to use another term. This virus is busy causing not a mass epidemic, but mass hysteria, leading people to empty store shelves of toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Also known as COVID-19, the Wuhan virus, like so many of its predecessors, is named based on where it was first identified, in this case, Wuhan, China.

In an intellectually functional society, claiming a virus name is racist would be nonsensical. But in America, where thoughtful discussion is replaced by cliched outrage and common sense has been relegated to history books, the name “Wuhan virus” has become the latest trigger for the left.

One of our congressional thought leaders, Rep. Ilhan Omar, tweeted out an accusation of racism after Rep. Kevin McCarthy referred to the virus as “Chinese Coronavirus.” Isn’t that where the virus originated? It’s not the Swedish or Bolivian Coronavirus.

When Ill 0mar says these ‘racist’ things she is unknowingly displaying her own racism. Dummy!

If we don't identify the area the virus came from, which is most likely the wet markets of Wuhan, then how do we eliminate the source?
We should all be angry at China. If you want to be a first worlder, then stop the barbaric food prep practices of the wet markets. it is not racist to say that their food preparation is causing viruses to explode to the rest of the world.
I also should not be called a racist because I do not choose to eat in a Chinese restaurant. it is my money, and I can choose to eat wherever I want.
When this is all said and done, I hope China gets faced with sanctions forcing them to address this issue.By not naming the area the virus came from, we ignore the cause.

Call it the Xi Jinping virus. Give the paramount leader of the CCP all the credit he so richly deserves.

If you have evidence that this bio-weapon was released through culinary practices the heathen Chinese have been indulging in for literally centuries; please share it with the rest of us.

1918-1919 Chinese virus was nicknamed “Spanish Flu” but didn’t come from Spain.

1957 “Asian Flu” which I had, was from China.

2020 Wuhan originated coronavirus came from.....Wuhan. The truth is sometimes easier to use than innuendo and fakery.

BTW, it's The Wuhan Chinese Flu, I don't give a flying rat's ass if that's racist!

Let's see: we had the Spanish Flu back in 1918, and there’s a long history of naming diseases after the place where they were discovered. Ebola Virus was first detected in a village in the Congo that’s near the Ebola River. Researchers studying mosquitoes in Uganda’s Zika Forest were the first to identify the Zika Virus. Remember the Hong Kong Flu? The first people to show symptoms of Lyme Disease were clustered around Lyme, Conn. We also had “Legionnaires’ Disease", and still get cases of it in office bldg or hotel AC systems.

Screw whiny commie China's "hurt boo-boo feelings".

The current theory is from snakes eating bats which then were consumed by humans. The virus came from Wuhan, it is a Chinese originated virus. China discouraged the CDC into helping, they hid this virus from the rest of the world. Therefore, it is China's fault.

The current narrative being put forth by the Communist Chinese might be bats and snakes.

This is a bilogically engineered weapon from the level 4 biolab in Wuhan.

If so, then it's a pathetic one. SARS and MERS are also in the Coronavirus family (MERS was originally named Coronavirus-2012), and both had FAR higher fatality rates (11% and 37% respectively)... Covid-19 is around 2.8%. Are you saying the China is bio-engineering Coronaviruses to be less fatal? Making them safer for all mankind?

”Are you saying the China is bio-engineering Coronaviruses to be less fatal? Making them safer for all mankind?”

No, stupid. If that’s what I was saying i would have said it.

You’re a troll, spoiling for an argument, and I am far too busy to teach you the difference between outbreaks from the past, where the outcome is known and the dynamic and ongoing situation we’re facing now.

Get back to me in five years or so and we can compare numbers. If you’re right, I’ll buy you a drink...

Between now and then, don’t put words in my mouth, and I won’t call you an arsehole.

More disruptive to overload hospitals and cause permanent pulmonary damage in living people than to kill them outright and quickly.
