There are many lessons to be learned from this coronavirus crisis. To quote former President Barack Obama, this is a "teachable moment." First, I'm on record. I warned about the dangers of this pandemic when few knew it even existed. So I think I'm justified to now report we are all overreacting at this point. Eighty-one percent of those infected develop mild symptoms. This is certainly going to be a hit to the global economy. But the sky isn't falling. The lessons of coronavirus: 1. Always expect the best, but prepare for the worst. Get educated and prepared just in...

In 1918, a popular song with the America’s World War I troops had these lyrics:“No matter their color, their race or creed, for every Yankee’s welfare, the K of C takes heed.”You read that right. Five decades before the Civil Rights movement, the organization mentioned in the song was the only charitable organization in World War I to offer integrated facilities to troops – something it did decades before the military itself was integrated. And when the Navy and Marine Corps themselves integrated in the late 1940s, it was a project led and championed by a former CEO of this organization.The...

27 years ago, Washington state passed a bill requiring the Washington State Police to sell valuable firearms rather than destroying them. Provisions were made for the destruction of firearms which could not be legally owned. For political reasons, local law enforcement agencies were not included. In some of those jurisdictions, such as the Yakima Police Department and Vancouver Police department, all guns are destroyed for political reasons.A bill to allow the State Police to destroy legal guns passed the House in the Washington state legislature on 23 January 2020. Selling or not selling the guns has no effect on the...

For the servant (slave) of Christ (His soldier); all that he/she possesses is at the total disposal of Almighty God, to be used for His honor and glory here in time (Romans 12:1-5). Be not offended by what God wills, allows or uses in your life to further the Gospel message to a lost and dying world (Matt 11:6, Rom 8:28). Endure hardness as a good soldier (2 Tim 2:3-4). Sometimes the very thing in which we are seeking to preserve or save is to be on the chopping block and removed. Fret not my beloved, Almighty God is in...

He wants to be the president who appoints the first black female to the United States Senate! – That is exactly what Quid Pro Joe Biden told an audience at a rally on Friday, and the rest of the Democrat presidential field is so weak that they voted for him anyway. So, now America’s Unfrozen Caveman Senator gets to be the Democrats’ Unfrozen Caveman Comeback Kid. For about 72 hours. By then, most of the results from the Super Tuesday states will have come in, and Crazy Uncle Joe will be right back where he belongs, sucking the wind of...

Sen. Bernie Sanders, the improbable current front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, is lying to the American people when he tell us that “democratic socialism” simply means he wants to give the vast majority of Americans new opportunities to succeed and wants millionaires and billionaires to pay their fair share of taxes. In fact, my extensive research on comments Sanders has made going back decades shows he has warmly embraced not just socialism but communism, and praised tyrannical dictatorships that have trashed the freedoms Americans enjoy under the Bill of Rights that are part of our Constitution. Sanders is not...

Tens of thousands of refugees from Syria and other countries were massing on the Turkish borders with Greece and Bulgaria last night, hurling stones at guards and trying to cut through razor wire. Greek police closed border crossings and fired tear gas at large groups of migrants who tried to enter from Turkey yesterday, while pregnant women and children were among those making hazardous crossings by sea. One of the first...

The role slavery and cheap labour played in the foundation and vast wealth of the British Empire has been highlighted by a New York museum. New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art has redesigned its British galleries to illustrate how cultural traditions that sprang from the empire fitted alongside opulent wealth amassed from slave labour. The renovation cost roughly $22 million and has transformed the museum's exhibits of British decorative arts over a 400-year period. Through nearly 700 works created between 1500 and 1900, the suite of 10 galleries gives 'a fresh perspective' on Britain's entrepreneurial spirit and complex history.

French historians have demanded the return of Napoleon III in the wake of Brexit, whose remains lie in a tomb in Hampshire. The emperor, who was the final monarch to rule France before he died in exile in 1873, was laid to rest in a church in Farnborough. But historians in France are hoping to have his remains repatriated as part of a post-Brexit trade deal.

Conservatives and pro-life Americans regularly challenge many in the media for their biased coverage in favor of abortion. But, as it turns out, a well-known abortion supporter and media-beloved figure – Hillary Clinton – is unhappy with their reporting too. Glamour magazine staff writer Jenny Singer recently spoke with the former Secretary of State in an interview published on February 19. The piece went largely unnoticed, even though it contained a big name and a controversial issue: Hillary Clinton and abortion. Among other things, Clinton stressed that the press “don’t understand†the importance of “reproductive health.â€From the beginning of the...

State officials say they are bracing for similar cases of people contracting the disease from an 'unknown origin' and nervous locals are taking no chances.
