Poland’s ruling Law and Justice party, buoyed by its popular conservative platform and generous social spending, was widely expected to win Sunday’s election, which is regarded as one of the country’s most momentous since the fall of communism 30 years ago. More than 30 million voters were choosing lawmakers in the 460-seat lower house of parliament, the Sejm, and in the 100-seat Senate. Law and Justice is the first party since the fall of communism to break with the austerity of previous governments, whose free-market policies took a moribund communist economy and transformed it into one of Europe's most dynamic.

Attorney General William Barr in a speech Friday bemoaned the "moral upheaval" of religious values in the United States, saying it has brought "suffering and misery." Barr made the comments during an address at the University of Notre Dame Law School. He said the deterioration of religion in the country is an "organized destruction" by secularists in an "unremitting assault on religion and traditional values," according to CNN. "Among the militant secularists are many so-called progressives. But where is the progress?" Barr asked. This "upheaval" has led to growing illegitimacy rates, drug use and "angry, alienated young males," CNN reported...

Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper said Sunday that President Trump ordered a withdrawal of American forces from northern Syria, a decision that will effectively cede control of the area to the Syrian government and Russia, and could allow a resurgence of the Islamic State. Mr. Esper, appearing on both Fox News and CBS News, said that American troops, mostly Special Operations forces, would leave the northeastern part of the country in the face of Turkey’s incursion into the section of Syria controlled by Kurdish forces, a group of fighters trained and backed by the United States government. The bulk of...

What’s fascinating is to see the reaction of the Never Trumpers. A tweet by Never-Trumper Allahpundit asks why Trump continues to “flog” Biden. “It helps Democrats; Biden is already slipping in the polls and seems unlikely to win; even if Biden does win, Trump could revive this next year.” And there you see the viewpoint of the Never-Trumpers. They view Biden’s corruption through a lens of politics. They agree with the Democrats and the rest of the media that Trump is doing this for purely political reasons. They never actually entertain the idea that Trump is really trying to expose...

Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.) slammed Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) for his handling of the impeachment inquiry, saying the process is filled with "cherry-picked leaks, withholding of key facts and ... lying." Zeldin told John Castimatidis on his Sunday radio show that the impeachment process "kind of a flying by the seat of your pants type process" for Schiff, who is leading the impeachment process. "Something that I find outrageous is the cherry-picked leaks, the withholding of key facts and the lying about other claims that's misleading the American public," Zeldin said. Zeldin said he has sat in on a total...

RINO Paul Ryan was a disgrace as a “Republican” House Speaker, and one of his biggest failings was taking advantage of complete GOP control of Congress and the White House during President Trump’s first two years in office. Some conservatives (us included) have blamed him for losing the House, as he and more than 50 other establishment Republicans bailed on their constituents, on Trump, and on our republic ahead of the 2018 elections. None of Ryan’s anti-Trump treachery has been lost on the president.

The Queen and Prince Charles could make more than £100million a year from the huge expansion of offshore windfarms – thanks to a change in the way that the monarchy is funded. The green energy earnings of the Royal Family are being significantly boosted by an auction, which formally began last week, for the biggest offshore windpower development in the world. If they were still being paid by the long-established Civil List, the Royals would not have benefited. ... Prince Charles is a vociferous campaigner for renewable energy sources but is opposed to turbines being erected on land – particularly...

New cardinal appointed by Pope Francis open to discussing female ‘ordination’ October 11, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) – Cardinal Michael Czerny and Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich, both of whom were just made a cardinal by Pope Francis, have given signs that they would be open to debate either the question of female ordination or the married priesthood. Cardinal Hollerich, a Jesuit from Luxemburg, showed openness toward the idea of ordaining married men to the priesthood. He told journalists at the beginning of October that when there are entire regions in the Amazon which cannot celebrate the Holy Eucharist, then this poses a great...

What took him so long? That’s the question we should be asking about President Trump’s decision to remove troops from Syria. If you paid attention to Donald Trump’s comments on foreign affairs during the 2016 campaign, you heard a lot of pronouncements like the following: “The United States has spent EIGHT TRILLION DOLLARS fighting and policing in the Middle East. Thousands of our Great Soldiers have died or been badly wounded. Millions of people have died on the other side. GOING INTO THE MIDDLE EAST IS THE WORST DECISION EVER MADE....

Gay icon Booker, a man widely lauded in the Port Authority Bus Terminal men’s toilets who sometimes performs drag under the name Izzy Gaye, had a clear-cut answer. Some House Democrats are privately calling on Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to hold a vote to formalize the impeachment inquiry to undermine Republican criticism that the process is illegitimate, Politico reported this week. So far, Pelosi has refused to schedule a vote, arguing that the Constitution and House rules do not require the lawmakers to do so. Meanwhile, the White House and its Republican congressional allies contend that such a vote is necessary to legitimize the inquiry per the recognized standards of previous impeachment efforts. Politico reported: Some Democratic lawmakers and aides have begun to say privately — and, to...
