Yesterday I decided to let Microsoft update my version of Windows 10. Big mistake. I had three games I really liked that I think originally came with Windows XP. I liked them well enough to move them from my old machines to my new one each time I upgraded my computer. After the update, I went to play a game of FreeCell, but it was gone from the desktop, as were Mahjong and Hearts. I looked in the directory where I installed then and they were gone. I started checking online and found that Microsoft removes any of its "free...

The Land of Lincoln will require public schools to incorporate LGBTQ figures into history lessons. Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker on Friday signed House Bill 246, which mandates the following: “In public schools only, the teaching of history shall include a study of the roles and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in the history of this country and this State.” The bill, introduced by Rep. Anna Moeller, will go into effect in July. “THNX Gov. Pritzker, legislative champs @staterepmoeller @SenatorSteans, amazing partners @ILSafeSchools @lgbt_legacy!” Equality Illinois, the state’s largest LGBTQ civil rights group tweeted Friday. State Sen. Heather...

San Antonio police said they are investigating an overnight shooting that left windows shattered at a government agency office on the city's Northeast Side. Police reported to the scene just after 3 a.m. Tuesday at a building that housed the Department of Homeland Security's Immigration and Customs Enforcement division, near Loop 410 and Nacogdoches Road. According to police, shots were fired possibly from across Loop 410, hitting the windows in the building, including the ICE office, officials said. Police said they took a man into custody who was found along Village Drive, not far from where the shooting occurred. No...

The groups know they will get a headline-grabbing reaction from Portland’s so-called “antifa,” whose members have issued an online call to their followers to turn out to “defend Portland from a far-Right attack.” Portland’s Rose City Antifa, the nation’s oldest active anti-fascist group, says violence against right-wing demonstrators is “exactly what should happen..." Portland leaders are planning a major law enforcement presence on the heels of similar rallies in June... None of the city’s nearly 1,000 police officers will have the day off, and Portland will get help from the Oregon State Police and the FBI. Mayor Ted Wheeler has...

umors and speculation continue to swirl around a radiological accident last week at a missile test site in northwestern Russia even as officials held a memorial service today for those who died in the incident. The Kremlin has now acknowledged that the incident killed at least seven scientists and other personnel from a major state nuclear research laboratory, who were working on a system that included a small nuclear reactor at the time. This same lab is linked to the development of a nuclear-powered cruise missile called Burevestnik and U.S. intelligence officials are reportedly increasingly of the view that one...

Marianne Williamson Reveals the Democrats Are a Cult How Hillary's seances led to the rise of the Left's New Age guru. August 13, 2019 Daniel Greenfield 47 Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical Left and Islamic terrorism. How did Marianne Williamson, the author of 21 Spiritual Lessons for Surrendering Your Weight Forever, and other stuff you might see on the bottom layer of a garage sale, end up on the 2020 debate stage? The obvious answer is that she’s been there for a very long time....

Polling right about 1% nationally, presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke turned up the heat on his connection to the working class by posting a video of himself changing a tire — without any assistance from the folks at AAA.

The Trump administration is moving — again — to make it more difficult for even legal immigrants to get a foothold in the United States. Beginning in October, a new rule will make immigrants who use certain government safety-net programs ineligible for permanent residency, blocking their path to naturalized citizenship.

A year after telling the public as a candidate he had obtained a bachelor’s degree, Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes said Thursday he hasn’t completed his degree at Alabama A&M University. The Democrat revealed to the Isthmus newspaper that he completed coursework to resolve an incomplete class but never turned it in. He called it “a small technical thing.” Barnes’ biography on Gov. Tony Evers’ website doesn’t claim that he graduated. Instead, it describes him as an alumnus, which may be someone who only attended a school. However, in response to a Wisconsin State Journal candidate questionnaire last year when he...

The Washington Post, owned by billionaire Jeff Bezos, who is also the CEO of Amazon, released an editorial this week blasting the enforcement of national immigration law as “cruel” and said U.S. businesses should not be deprived of employing illegal alien workers. In an editorial in the Washington Post, the editors wrote that the recent raids on seven Mississippi food processing plants by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were “cruel” and “pointless” despite arresting and identifying 680 illegal workers, including more than 200 who had previous criminal records. About 300 of the illegal workers arrested were released that same...

There is widespread concern about racial disparities in fatal officer-involved shootings and that these disparities reflect discrimination by White officers. Existing databases of fatal shootings lack information about officers, and past analytic approaches have made it difficult to assess the contributions of factors like crime. We create a comprehensive database of officers involved in fatal shootings during 2015 and predict victim race from civilian, officer, and county characteristics. We find no evidence of anti-Black or anti-Hispanic disparities across shootings, and White officers are not more likely to shoot minority civilians than non-White officers. Instead, race-specific crime strongly predicts civilian race....

DES MOINES, Iowa — There’s not even a kernel of hope for Mayor Bill de Blasio in this decidedly unscientific Iowa State Fair poll. Even after his 20-minute pitch to voters at the famed Political Soapbox — the NYC mayor is registering at 0 percent in the corn kernel poll. Attendees over 18 place a corn kernel into a jar to select their top caucus choice. Around 6 p.m. Sunday, The Post counted about 23 kernels in his jar. The end-of-day result showed his percentage at zero. More than 20,000 potential voters cast corn kernel ballots thus far. Topping the...

Italy’s Interior Minister had the perfect response to actor Richard Gere, who inserted himself into the country’s immigration issues when he urged the government to help African migrants who’ve been stranded on a Spanish charity boat for more than a week."Given this generous millionaire is voicing concern for the fate of the Open Arms migrants, we thank him: he can take back to Hollywood, on his private plane, all the people aboard and support them in his villas,†Interior Minister Matteo Salvini said in a statement, according to Reuters. “Thank you Richard!" Gere, who has a net worth of $120 million...

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, N.J. (AP) - Trying to hold support in the manufacturing towns that helped him win the White House in 2016, President Donald Trump is showcasing growing efforts to capitalize on western Pennsylvania's natural gas deposits by turning gas into plastics. Trump will be in Monaca, about 40 minutes north of Pittsburgh, on Tuesday to tour Shell's soon-to-be completed Pennsylvania Petrochemicals Complex. The facility, which critics claim will become the largest air polluter in western Pennsylvania, is being built in an area hungry for investment. The focus is part of a continued push by the Trump administration to increase...

State communications regulators in Russia sent a letter to Google Sunday warning that election “interference” would not be tolerated. The missive seeks to discourage the ubiquitous search engine from disseminating information about “mass events, including those aimed at disrupting elections of federal and regional significance.” Among the government’s concerns are “push notices” that might help protesters and opposition parties organize rallies and political events. The country’s Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media warned there would be consequences for “interference” on Google’s behalf.

For the past few days, since reading and watching news about the film The Hunt, (now apparently canceled or delayed), I’ve been planning to write a piece focusing on the screenplay’s kill list of “deplorable” American conservatives. My initial primary resource was the official movie trailer itself. Now, in a two minute movie trailer, nothing is included by chance, not even one frame. Halfway through, a bulletin board is shown with photos of the deplorables who have been kidnapped for the hunt depicted in the movie. You will note that along with an evil rhino hunter and a tiki-torch-marching...

Listen to the two-beat sound at the very end of the clip. Reminiscent of the famous "doink-doink" from NBC's" Law & Order," no? Viewers would be forgiven for thinking that the ad airing on CNN's New Day this morning was indeed a promo for a TV crime show. Or a new version of All The President's Men. Or might it have been an anti-Trump attack ad from the DNC? It's not until the New York Times logo appears at the very end that it's seen to be a commercial for the newspaper, making the explicit commercial pitch ["the truth is...

Ten weeks of protests, some huge, a few violent, culminated Monday with a shutdown of the Hong Kong airport. Ominously, Beijing described the violent weekend demonstrations as "deranged" acts that are "the first signs of terrorism," and vowed a merciless crackdown on the perpetrators. China is being pushed toward a decision it does not want to make: to use military force, as in Tiananmen Square 30 years ago, to crush the uprising. For that would reveal the character of President Xi Jinping's Communist dictatorship, as well as Beijing's long-term plans for this semi-autonomous city of almost 7.5 million. Yet this...

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- When the press stops rolling at The Vindicator this month, a lingering question will once again taunt the residents of the Mahoning Valley: How much collapse can one region take? The family-owned newspaper announced in June -- just days after celebrating its 150th anniversary -- that it is permanently ceasing production on Aug. 31. Started in 1869 just months after Ulysses S. Grant was sworn into office, it has been run by the descendants of William F. Maag ever since he purchased it midway through Grover Cleveland's first term. The closure will cost 144 employees and 250...

People who enjoy eating venison need to bone up on bullets, if they haven’t already done so. The bullet makes the connection. The projectile launched from a rifle or handgun is the critical element, the one thing that separates wild-meat eaters from people who buy it at the market. And there are five things one should understand about bullets. 1. Boattails are best. With but a few exceptions that apply to taking large, dangerous game primarily on the African continent, the spire-pointed boattail bullet is the best choice for Western hunters, especially those hunting open country. This projectile is superbly...
