WASHINGTON (CBS) — Philadelphia Union midfielder Alejandro Bedoya had a message for Congress on Sunday night. After scoring a goal against D.C. United, Bedoya celebrated with his teammates before running over to a field microphone to deliver a statement to Washington on national TV. “Hey Congress, do something now. End gun violence. Let’s go,” Bedoya said. Bedoya’s message comes as the United States is left reeling after the latest rash of mass shootings. Twenty people were killed and dozens were injured during a mass shooting at a shopping mall in El Paso on Saturday. Prosecutors will seek the death penalty...

Not until the waning days of the Philadelphia Convention did our Framers complete their plan of the Electoral College. In contrast, Article I elections to Congress and Article III appointments to the Scotus were taken care of weeks before. What took so long to determine Article II electors? The answer is that the Constitution isn’t linear. In a linear design, adding or amending one clause, one Section, one Article doesn’t affect previous clauses, Sections and Articles. In contrast, our Constitution is non-linear. It more resembles a puzzle in which the authority of one branch necessarily affects the power and reach...

President Jair Bolsonaro argued Sunday for his signature policy of relaxing gun control measures, saying they will not stop mass shootings such as those that left 29 dead in the US over the weekend. "Disarming people isn't going to keep that from happening," Bolsonaro said. "Brazil is, on paper, extremely unarmed; and a similar thing has already happened here in Brazil," Bolsonaro told reporters in Brasilia.

India’s government on Monday revoked the special status of Kashmir in a bid to fully integrate its only Muslim-majority region with the rest of the country, the most far-reaching move on the troubled Himalayan territory in nearly seven decades. Interior Minister Amit Shah told parliament the federal government would scrap Article 370, a constitutional provision that grants special status for disputed Kashmir and allows the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir to make its own laws.

President Donald Trump overruled the adamant objections of nearly his entire trade team when he ordered the imposition of 10% tariffs on China's remaining $300 billion of exports to the United States, according to The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter. Trump, in his decision announced on Twitter Thursday, said China has not made good on a promise to buy American agricultural goods in large quantities, and as a consequence the U.S. would impose new tariffs starting Sept. 1. I just downloaded and started using Brave. All I've done is make it the default browser and import bookmarks from Chrome. Are there any other settings I should know about or addons to make it run better? In their addons they recommended Microsoft Edge but since I've never used it before I don't see why I would be using it now. Should I add that on for some reason? I am also using AdGuard 7.0, which I installed before Brave. Is the built in ad blocker for Brave good enough to make AdGuard redundant? I've never had any problems with...

Mainstream Media: We know You Hate Donald Trump, It's Not News. We know you are going to keep this up, at least, through the next election. You are going to call him and his followers every hateful thing. We've heard it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the longest time. So we get it, OK? It's not News. I go away for a week and I can predict what the news will be regarding the President. I can predict that the news is full of fake news and that I just have to wait and so much...

The bodies in El Paso were barely cold when Beto O’Rourke started blaming President Trump. “He is a racist, and he stokes racism in this country . . . We have a president with white nationalist views in the United States today,” the failing Democratic presidential candidate told CNN all Saturday night and Sunday. He likened Trump’s “anti-immigrant rhetoric” to something out of the Third Reich. “He is an open, avowed racist and is encouraging more racism in this country and this is incredibly dangerous . . . “Let’s connect the dots here on . . . who is responsible...

The mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio are horrific tragedies. In the case of the El Paso shooting, the suspected terrorist gunman appears to have been inspired by the forum website known as 8chan. Based on evidence we've seen, it appears that he posted a screed to the site immediately before beginning his terrifying attack on the El Paso Walmart killing 20 people. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. Nearly the same thing happened on 8chan before the terror attack in Christchurch, New Zealand. The El Paso shooter specifically referenced the Christchurch incident and appears to...

Former Vice President Joe Biden misstated the locations of mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, while speaking to donors at a high-dollar fundraiser in San Diego on Sunday night. Biden, 76, mistakenly referred to the shootings as “the tragic events in Houston today and also in Michigan the day before" Biden seemingly confused Houston for El Paso and Michigan for Ohio when speaking to donors about the shootings. “You know what, the president’s words have meaning, no matter who he or she is. They are the face of America,” Biden said at the Sunday fundraiser.

There are never any discussions on how to prosecute these horrific crimes. How about this for a start? All thoughts are welcome. Any shootings with five or more people killed where there is evidence with NO reasonable doubt e.g. manifesto and video evidence, there will be a jury trial in federal court within six months of the murders. And then one and only one appeal directly to the US Supreme Court that is automatically moved to the top of the docket. The ruling on appeal must be issued within three months. If the verdict is upheld, automatic sentence of death...
