The galaxy clusters Abell 0399 and Abell 0401 are some of the most massive objects in the universe. In a new study, researchers have discovered a 10-million-light-year-long bridge of radio waves (shown in blue in this composite image) linking them, and it’s doing crazy things to electrons. On the big roadmap of the universe, bustling clusters of galaxies are connected by long highways of plasma weaving around the wilderness of empty space. These interspace roadways are known as filaments, and they can stretch for hundreds of millions of light-years, populated only by dust, gas and busy electrons driving very close...

The tragic news of Austin’s passing was broken by fellow LGBTQ activist and Pennsylvania State Rep, Brian Sims. Sims tweeted on the morning of June 7, “Philadelphia’s LGBTQ community lost one of our best & brightest last night! Dante Austin was one of the strongest & kindest champions for equality I’ve ever met. He lifted up everyone he touched. He supported everyone who needed him. He cared deeply & loved...

A Ninth Circuit Court judge nullified a key barrier to the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, arguing that it no longer applies after the Trump administration replaced the permit earlier this year. Judge Edward Leavy out of Montana ruled Thursday night in favor of the Trump administration and TransCanada Corporation’s motion to dismiss. The ruling sided with arguments that the old permit for the pipeline, which was replaced by the Trump administration in March, is no longer valid and therefore the injunction associated with it also no longer applies. The action hands a victory to the Trump administration, which...

Posted on June 6, 2019June 6, 2019 by Msgr. Charles Pope Do You Fear the Right Thing? A Meditation on the Story of Chicken Little Fear is a complex passion. On the one hand, there are things that we ought to fear such as grave physical and spiritual dangers. The fear of being near the edge of a cliff might well save our life. The fear of serious sin and the punishment we might experience or the offense to God (who loves us) is both appropriate and holy. Sadly, more people lack this holy fear rooted in the possible...

Rep. Lee Zeldin, a Jewish New York Republican joined forces with Democratic Reps. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz of Florida and Michigan’s Brenda Lawrence to create the “Black-Jewish Caucus.” The caucus aims to “raise awareness of each community’s sensitivities and needs, in Congress and out, and provide resources to members of Congress to empower them to bring African-American and Jewish communities together, combating stereotypes and hate and showcasing commonalities.” So of course, noted anti-Semite Linda Sarsour was FURIOUS: "Lee Zeldin is still an anti-Arab, anti-Palestinian bigot who called Obama a racist & Zeldin campaigns with neo-Nazis & white supremacists. I will tweet this...

[Catholic Caucus] Anatomy of a Vatican II Huckster: Cardinal Oscar Rodríguez Maradiaga Editor’s Note: This article first appeared in the Feb. 2018 Print Edition of Catholic Family News (subscribe HERE). We reprint it here in light of a report that Cardinal Maradiaga had to be evacuated from a plane in his native Honduras earlier this week due to political protests at the airport and even a potential “danger of lynching.” As the following article demonstrates, the Honduran cardinal and close collaborator of Pope Francis is quite a scandalous character.***** Plucked from Obscurity to Attack Catholic Moral Teaching As the coordinator of...

You shouldn't cut in line, especially in front of this lady. Just before 1 am on Sunday, Austin police were called out to the bar at La Catedral del Marisco. This is a Mexican restaurant in Austin that also does karaoke on the weekends. Several people have different stories of what happened on this night. Doris Vallejo-Godoy claims she got into an altercation with a gentleman at the bar over the karaoke machine as to who was next. Vallejo-Godoy told police she pulled out her pistol to calm the man down after he called her bad names, but never pointed...

Former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge suggested in an interview that aired Friday on "Rising" that he did not believe President Trump's move to slap new tariffs on Mexico would solve the immigration issue at the U.S. southern border. "I'm not quite sure tariffs on Mexico are going to solve the problem for us," Ridge, who served under former President George W. Bush, told Hill.TV. "I have a great deal of support for the notion about securing the borders, but I think we politicize the issue instead of solving the problem," he continued. The Hill obtained a draft document on...

An alligator was captured in Pittsburgh's Beechview neighborhood Thursday night. The animal was taken to the Humane Animal Rescue in Homewood. CEO of the shelter, Dan Rossi, said the animal is not happy and is stressed out. Rossi said officials are not sure yet if the alligator was male or female. He added the five-foot long reptile was a potential danger in the Beechview neighborhood. He said if people can no longer care for their exotic pets, call their helpline at 412-345-7300. This is the second alligator captured in Pittsburgh in less than a month. Another one was found in...

“Raging Bull” star Robert De Niro is worth over a half-billion dollars, an attorney said Thursday as the famous actor spars with his estranged wife over the terms of their divorce. The new details about the Hollywood star’s finances emerged during a hearing in Manhattan Supreme Court that revealed the two are battling over how to interpret a 2004 pre-nuptial agreement signed after a previous divorce. “Ms. Hightower has taken the position, 'Nope, I’m entitled to 50%,” Judge Matthew Cooper said. “We are not talking about hundreds of thousands — we are talking millions of dollars here.” De Niro attorney...

[Catholic Caucus] St. Thomas Would Oppose Changing the Lord’s Prayer Pope Francis’ pre-Christmas call for a better translation of the Lord’s Prayer was met by a number of defenses of the English translation which we all know by heart. Anthony Esolen, Lionel Yaceckzo and Charlotte Allen, for example, have made it abundantly clear that, “and lead us not into temptation,” is a correct English translation of both the Greek and Latin texts of Matthew 6:13. This is not the end of the matter, though. For, as Esolen eloquently puts it: “The words of Jesus, as words, are clear. Their implications...

WASHINGTON -- The federal government will stop funding intramural research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) involving fetal tissue derived from elective abortions, the Department of Health and Human Services said Wednesday. "Promoting the dignity of human life from conception to natural death is one of the very top priorities of President Trump's administration," the department said in a statement. "Intramural research that requires new acquisition of fetal tissue from elective abortions will not be conducted." The department said current NIH-funded research at academic centers with abortion-derived fetal tissue can continue, however, and new projects can still be funded,...

Never let it be said that anti-Semitism plagues only one political group, as New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio so stupidly tried to claim this week. Anti-Jewish bigotry, whether casual or vicious, knows no party loyalty. Take, for example, the D.C. Dyke March. It has banned Jewish and Israeli symbols from its festivities this week in the nation’s capital, according to the Forward. The D.C. Dyke March is designed to include people of diverse races, religions and gender identities who feel excluded from the more mainstream Pride parade,” the Forward reports. “The march will also ban ‘nationalist symbols,’ including...

Recently Sohrab Ahmari, op-ed editor of The New York Post, saw something online that left him shaken. “This is demonic,” he tweeted. “To hell with liberal order.” His moral indignation led him to write a much discussed essay in the religious journal First Things. Castigating conservatives who see a possibility of coexistence with the left, he called for a religious Reconquista of American politics. The right, he argued, should “fight the culture war with the aim of defeating the enemy and enjoying the spoils in the form of a public square reordered to the common good and ultimately the Highest...

LONDON (Reuters) - British Prime Minister Theresa May steps down as leader of the governing Conservatives on Friday, officially triggering a contest to replace her that could see her party embrace a tougher stance on Brexit. May announced she would step down last month after failing to deliver Britain’s departure from the European Union on time, deepening a political crisis in a divided country struggling to move on from a 2016 referendum on Brexit.

Despite what you might believe from watching television shows or movies, suppressors (commonly known as “silencers”) do not make guns “silent” — unless you consider an ambulance siren or a jackhammer to be silent.
