An ability to get on contract quickly and a price far lower that other companies were key factors in NASA’s decision to award a contract to Maxar Technologies for the first element of the lunar Gateway, the Power and Propulsion Element (PPE). A source selection statement released by NASA May 23 outlined the agency’s assessment of proposals for the PPE submitted by Maxar and four other companies: Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems and Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC). The document shows that Maxar, identified in the document as Space Systems Loral (SSL), the former name of its satellite manufacturing...

Some might find this practice sort of macabre, but when I'm watching an older movie at home, I sometimes have my laptop open to that movie's IMDB page and then I click on each member of the cast to see if they are still alive or not. Every now and then I come across a movie in which most of the cast is dead but it's rare in that I watch a movie in which all the cast are dead. I think that's more a function of not watching a lot of really old movies. But time is catching up...

WASHINGTON, D.C.—After Attorney General Barr suggested that the FBI and other agencies spied on Donald Trump's 2016 campaign, former FBI director James Comey fired back. Military Father Returns From Deployment To Surprise Airman Son At Graduation "We did not spy," he told reporters as he stretched for his morning yoga class. "We just observed and reported secretly without the subject's knowledge or consent." "See, I've never considered that spying," he added as he formed the "downward dog" pose. "That's just kind of secret watching. It's definitely not the same thing. When you spy, you watch someone without their knowledge. When...

Colorado is trying to help tamp down the opioid crisis by allowing doctors to recommend medical marijuana for any condition meriting a painkiller prescription, The Denver Post reported. Gov. Jared Polis signed Senate Bill 13 on Thursday, and the new law is scheduled to go into effect on Aug. 2, after passing through Colorado's General Assembly. “This will substitute marijuana for an FDA-approved medication — something that’s unregulated for something that’s highly regulated,” Stephanie Stewart, a physician in Colorado, told the news outlet. Under Colorado law, medical marijuana can be recommended for patients struggling with cancer, glaucoma, HIV and AIDS,...

In a federal lawsuit, the owners of the Ark Encounter are asking for a $1 million settlement after the attraction's insurers, Allied World Assurance Co. Holdings of Switzerland and three other insurance companies, refused to cover damage after heavy rains in 2017 and 2018 caused a landslide on its access road, the Courier Journal reports. Opened in 2016, the 510-foot-long wooden ark has been a popular attraction in Williamstown, Kentucky. The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages...

Lawyers for President Donald Trump have reached an agreement with the House Intelligence and Financial Services committees to hold off for now on enforcing the subpoenas for Trump's financial records from Deutsche Bank and Capital One, according to a court document and a source familiar with the agreement. "The parties have reached an agreement regarding compliance with and enforcement of the subpoenas during the pendency of Plaintiff's appeal," the court document filed Saturday reads.

For years, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Border Patrol have said their facilities are overwhelmed and the system is severely broken. Politicians in Washington, D.C. have debated the issue, but one thing they can't debate is the cold hard facts. And the fact is we have people from around the world taking advantage of loopholes in our immigration system, a Border Patrol whistleblower told Townhall. Central American caravan riders have overwhelmed the Border Patrol since last fall when they began coming to the United States en masse. Mexico established a system to help the U.S. deal with the...

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker took to the airwaves ahead of scheduled parliamentary elections to lay into "stupid nationalists" who object to the European Union's open borders policies and centralization of power. "These populist, nationalists, stupid nationalists, they are in love with their own countries when they should be showing a greater appreciation of what we're doing for them," he said. "This is a revolting repeat of the same attitudes that resisted the unification of Europe achieved by the Germans in the early 1940s. Why must every little pipsqueak country insist on going its own way? It's not as if...

1. Hunting Hunting was a hugely important skill for much of human history, but in light of the rise of cheap and readily available factory-farmed meat, hunting’s relationship to the food we actually eat has disappeared for the overwhelming majority of the population. If you grew up in a rural area, there’s a good chance you learned to shoot game at some point, but as much as many contemporary guys fantasize about being able to kill a wild animal and eat it (Mark Zuckerberg, anyone?), particularly if you live in a big city, there’s really not much real-world benefit to...

spiked: Why did you decide to identify as a woman to break the women’s deadlift record? Zuby: Around the time I posted the video, there were multiple news stories popping up about transgender athletes – technically biological men – competing against biological women. They were winning races and competitions in all kinds of sports. I’d seen this kind of thing springing up over the years, but in a very short period of time it seemed like there were lots of cases Out of curiosity, I googled what the British women’s powerlifting records actually were and I saw that I could...

Government documents that will soon be made public will reveal stunning information about former U.N. ambassador Samantha Power's voluminous unmasking efforts in 2016, according to multiple sources. On Thursday, President Trump gave Attorney General William Barr the authority to declassify documents from multiple agencies related to surveillance of the Trump campaign in 2016. According to investigative journalist Sara Carter on Fox News' Hannity, last night, some of the documents will reveal that FBI "informant" (spy) Stefan Halper recorded both George Papadopoulos and Carter Page, and there is exculpatory evidence on those tapes. In addition to that, according to Carter, one...

Hollywood actor Jon Voight released a two-part video via Twitter last night, heralding President Trump as "the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln," and one who is "battling the Left and their absurd words of destruction." The message was poignant and, while the claim of President Trump's actual ranking amongst presidents since the Civil War could be debated for hours, it was largely one the Republican Party and conservatives needed to hear. In short, it could serve as a call for Republicans to get out, get moving, and start knocking on doors lest we want a leftist president to win in...

President Trump on Saturday ripped into what he described as an “activist Obama appointed judge” after a federal judge blocked the administration’s plan to reallocate money to building a wall on the southern border with Mexico. “Another activist Obama appointed judge has just ruled against us on a section of the Southern Wall that is already under construction,” he said. “This is a ruling against Border Security and in favor of crime, drugs and human trafficking.” Trump went on to say that the administration is asking for “an expedited appeal.” U.S District Court Judge Haywood Gilliam’s ruling late Friday temporarily...
