This scourge is not new. Or secret. But it is, remarkably, unremarked upon Too often, when my daughters were little, we had to run a gauntlet of haters to enter the JCC in downtown Toronto. For a weekend swim. Family fun. Several blocks away, on one of the busiest streets in central Toronto – home to a community of approximately 200,000 Jews – is the office of the Israeli Consulate. Every Friday afternoon, a diehard gaggle of anti-Israel protesters assembles at the building entrance, often wearing black, in symbolic mourning, handing out leaflets rife with historical lies to passersby, and,...

July 28 - The U.S. Department of the Treasury today announced that it will begin to wind down the myRA program after a thorough review by Treasury that found it not to be cost effective. This review was undertaken as part of the Administration’s effort to assess existing programs and promote a more effective government. Demand for and investment in the myRA program has been extremely low. American taxpayers have paid nearly $70 million to manage the program since 2014. “The myRA program was created to help low to middle income earners start saving for retirement. Unfortunately, there has been...

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — Joe Flacco’s health. The salary cap. And of course, potential negative fan reaction. The Baltimore Raves are weighing all these factors — and then some — as they continue to wrestle with the decision whether to sign free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick. It’s been a week since Ravens coach John Harbaugh floated the idea of adding Kaepernick, a veteran with Super Bowl experience and the baggage that comes from his decision last year to literally sit out the national anthem on game day. The topic of Kaepernick came up on the first day of training...

Hungarian-Polish political scientist Dominik Hejj said: “The relations are very strong, and almost every week a Polish minister visits Hungary and vice versa.”

A top official of the National Security Council was fired last month after arguing in a memo that President Trump is under sustained attack from subversive forces both within and outside the government who are deploying Maoist tactics to defeat President Trump’s nationalist agenda. His dismissal marks the latest victory by National-Security Adviser H.R. McMaster in the ongoing war within Trump’s White House between those who believe the president is under threat from dark forces plotting to undermine him, and those like McMaster who dismiss this as conspiratorial thinking.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- People who buy drinks in Cook County may pay more Wednesday. A sweetened beverage tax went into effect at midnight. A last-minute appeal was filed Tuesday afternoon to try and stop the controversial tax, once again, from going into effect. Originally slated to begin on July 1, the tax was postponed for a month while a judge reviewed a lawsuit questioning its constitutionality. The so-called "soda tax" applies to more than just pop. It adds a penny-per-ounce tax to any fountain or bottled drink that has sugar or artificial sweeteners added to it. Those drinks can include...

WINNETKA, Ill. (WLS) -- A group of Chicago Public School parents and students protested outside Gov. Pope Francis, Intrinsically Evil Acts, Haring and the Collapse of Catholic & Western Civilization Fr. Edmundus Waldstein, O. Cist., at sancrucensis.wordpress.com, reported why Pope Francis praised dissenter Fr. Bernard Haring who promoted allowing intrinsically evil acts: "In a discussion with the General Congregation of the Society of Jesus, the Holy Father praised Fr. Bernard Haring for having helped overcome a decadent scholastic moral theology that had been fixated on negative commandments, and opened up a way for moral theology to flourish. Now, Haring’s moral theology is a great example of what it might mean to begin processes as opposed to occupying spaces." (Dubia and Initiating Processes,...

When I was younger, a lot more energetic, and made many of the Christmas gifts I gave, I was finished with almost everything that could be done ahead for the holidays by the end of September or October. I’m not sure that will ever happen again, but I like to make some plans ahead and lately I’ve been thinking about Thanksgiving. I never really like to make big changes for that holiday menu – people seem to want it to stay the same. But I think it’s good to introduce at least one new thing, each year. I usually make...

President Trump will give a speech at the White House on Friday, and will sign a memo directing his trade representative to go after Chinese theft of intellectual property and the way U.S. companies are forced to share technology with Chinese firms, as Axios scooped yesterday. Administration officials say Trump is doing this because of complaints he's heard from Silicon Valley executives saying Chinese IP theft is one of their biggest challenges (Peter Thiel was involved in crafting this new step). Sen. John McCain pronounced President Trump's objections to the sweeping sanctions measure he signed Thursday "misplaced" and said it was "critical" that Mr. Trump comply with and implement the act, as signed. "The concerns expressed in the President's signing statement are hardly surprising, though misplaced," McCain said in a statement soon after the president signed a bill which limits his ability to unilaterally alter sanctions against Russia, Iran and North Korea. The Arizona senator also took the opportunity to take a stand for the powers of Congress, which rival the president's. "The Framers of our Constitution made the Congress and...
