Where I live (near Los Angeles) you can drive for blocks without seeing a single home with Christmas lights, let alone a manger scene or some other religious decoration. And you can drive miles and see fewer than a dozen. I grew up in Brooklyn, New York, in an area where most residents were either Italian or Jewish. So many homes had Christmas decorations that you could almost be sure that if the home wasn't decorated, a Jewish family lived in it. And while I was -- and remain -- a committed Jew, I loved -- and still love --...

WASHINGTON - A D.C. police officer who rose to a pivotal role within the police department was suspended, but is now back on the streets after taking under-aged interns to a bar and even worse. She’s been recognized for paving the way for so many like her, in a police department that has strived to be progressive. The praise has been strong, but Fox 5 uncovered some disturbing information about Sergeant Jessica Hawkins.

VIDEO, hit me The day after the election, a local publisher had plans to stock shelves with a new book featuring Hillary Clinton. Penny Eifrig, owner of the Eifrig Publishing LLC, said it was a bold move to have the book "Introducing Madam President" ready to go. But after adding up the electoral votes early Wednesday morning, Donald Trump defeated Clinton. Trump will be the 45th president of the United States. "I thought that this is a story that I need to tell, this is a great story. People don't talk about the female candidates, people don't know that anybody...

The United States on Tuesday said it has successfully located remains of the country's servicemen who went missing in Arunachal Pradesh during World War II. A Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) team carried out works on sites in the Himalayas where US aircrafts are believed to have crashed with still unaccounted for servicemen. The team visited several locations in Arunachal Pradesh to determine if the reported sites can be definitively correlated with known crash sites involving missing US servicemen. "The United States is committed to making sure all the soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines who served our country come home....

The Electoral College on Monday voted for Donald J. Trump to win the presidency. Seven electors, the most ever, voted for someone other than their party’s nominee. In Washington, a state where Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont had strong support in the Democratic primary against Hillary Clinton, three of the state’s 12 electoral votes went to Colin L. Powell, the Republican former secretary of state. One more elector voted for Faith Spotted Eagle, a Native American leader. Another Democratic elector in Hawaii voted for Mr. Sanders. Two Texas electors voted for different Republican politicians: Gov. John Kasich of Ohio and...

1. Get Democrats in the Congress and across the country to pledge to oppose Trump’s agenda. Prolong the process of approving choices, draw out hearings 2. March and demonstrate—in a coordinated, well-managed way. 3. Boycott all Trump products, real estate, hotels, resorts, everything. And then boycott all stores (like Nordstrom) that carry merchandise from Trump family brands. 6. Social media: What about a new YouTube channel devoted to video testimonials about resisting Trump’s First 100 Day Agenda? 8. Investigative journalism: We need investigative journalists to dig into the backgrounds of all of Trump’s appointees, in the White House, the Cabinet,...

A couple’s engagement photo has been widely shared online thanks to an onlooker's brilliant reaction to the proposal. Law student Jessica Rodriguez proposed to her girlfriend Chelsea Miller at the Art Institute of Chicago, with the romantic proposal captured by photographer Ed Sanchez Perry. The joyous reaction of a woman who witnessed the surprise proposal, seen in the background of the photo, has touched the heart of many on social media. Ms Rodriguez’s brother shared the photo on Twitter with the caption: “My sister proposed to her GF today and look at that older woman's reaction.” He told BuzzFeed News:...

On December 19th, 2016, twelve people were killed and nearly fifty injured when a truck plowed through a Christmas market in Berlin, Germany. In the latest example of a true war on the Christmas holiday and Christians everywhere, the Islamic State quickly claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack. The terrorist suspect has also been reported to be a refugee - one of well over a million refugees allowed into Germany by Angela Merkel through her disastrous open-border policy.

An incredibly violent fight at a Maryland high school has left three students hospitalized. Shocking footage shows the brawl at Capitol Heights' Central High School, with students punching each other, hurling one another to the ground and screaming while adults try to stop them. The fight broke out Friday when a group of African-American students attacked a group of Hispanic students, a school district spokesperson told Fox 5 . The school said the incident may have been racially motivated. No one was arrested after the fight but the aggressors are believed to have been expelled. Three students were taken to...

Russian President Vladimir Putin joins a host of world leaders who have had to respond to brazen terror attacks on Monday. One of those attacks happened in Ankara, Turkey, where Russian Ambassador Andrey Karlov was killed in cold blood by a police officer who was standing behind him during a speech in an art gallery. After he shot Karlov several times in the back, the killer screamed that he did it for Aleppo. The entire attack was caught on camera. Putin has vowed revenge. "A crime has been committed and it was without doubt a provocation aimed at spoiling the...

Under World Ghost 1911 We’ve all heard of the quasi-mystical ‘Gun runners’ and ‘illegal gun trade’, but if you’ve ever wondered where those illegal guns could come from, wonder no more. The Philippine city of Danao has a few manufacturers, making copycat Colts and other 1911s with templates and hand tools. Unfinished though they are, they get handed off to finishers that make these guns look like the real deal. They fire, they're dangerous, and they're being imported. At $230 a sale, these illegal guns aren’t all that expensive, but they are massively illegal. They're even given fake serial numbers...

As part of the President’s eleventh hour surge of new rules which are intended to hamstring any reforms sought by the Trump administration, the Interior Department recently rolled out a new “stream protection” order. This move would once again vastly expand the definition of open waters and restrict industrial activity which might, in theory, impact them under the Clean Water Act. The long and the short of it was yet another barrier to any sort of coal mining in the country. Rather than waiting for new leadership to rewrite everything, go through an extensive period of public comment and court...

Who would have thought that Bowe Bergdahl would score a presidential pardon before Hillary Clinton? Not that President Barack Obama has pardoned either one -- at least not yet. But Christmas is coming. So don't be surprised if Obama lets Sgt. Bergdahl walk instead of having him stand trial, as scheduled, for desertion and misbehavior in the face of the enemy. U.S. Army Sgt. Bergdahl endangered his fellow soldiers when he walked off his post in Afghanistan in 2009, leaving his weapon and body armor behind, and walked into the arms of the Taliban.

Despite appearances to the contrary, the murder of the Russian ambassador in Ankara and the Berlin massacre in a Christmas market have nothing to do with religion but are economically motivated, according to the secretary general of the Italian bishops’ conference. On Monday, a gunman shot the Russian ambassador to Turkey, Andrei Karlov, at an art exhibition in Ankara, reportedly shouting “Allahu akbar” while he gunned him down. Later in the day, a Muslim Pakistani “refugee” drove a semi through a Christmas market in Berlin, killing 12 people and injuring many others.

For the last several weeks major media organizations had been loudly vocalizing their belief that this year might see the Electoral College swinging the election against November 8th's winner because of an unusual number of defectors. In fact, there were an unusual number of defectors yesterday, but not from Donald Trump: Trump managed to win 304 of his 306 possible Electoral Votes. However, in what was quite the media shocker, Hillary Clinton actually lost five of her electors, winning only 227 of 232 possible Electoral Votes. Three of her defectors voted for Colin Powell, one for a Native American protester,...

The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has issued a religious decree (fatwa) prohibiting the use of Christmas-themed attire or accessories that recall a tradition foreign to Islam. The fatwa 56/2016 harshly criticized the Christmas atmosphere invading public areas of the country, calling it “a foreign culture with which we must not mingle.”

In Florida, protesters swarmed the Capitol rotunda, one hoisting a “Trump Is Too Rusky” sign featuring a hammer and sickle. In Wisconsin’s statehouse, a heckler shouted, “We’re all going to go to war and die thanks to you,” during the formal meeting of the Electoral College. And in New York, an elector by the name of William Jefferson Clinton cast his vote for his wife and then came out to make plain that he believes Donald J. Trump won the presidency only because of outside interference in the election. “We had the Russians and the F.B.I., and she couldn’t prevail...

The Founding Fathers were "geniuses," Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) said during a forum on free speech with Concerned Veterans for America on Monday. The South Carolina congressman spoke up to defend the Electoral College just as Donald Trump officially won the 2016 election. Many have been questioning the legitimacy of the Electoral College, considering Hillary Clinton won the popular vote last month. Gowdy, however, rejected the idea that the election process could be interpreted and altered with each new generation."Some of my colleagues like the Electoral College, some of them don't," Gowdy said. "It depends on whether or not their gal or guy won. We ought to...
