Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders on Tuesday received the endorsement of MoveOn.org, a grassroots organization that has been at the forefront of liberal causes. MoveOn says the Vermont senator was supported by 78.6 percent of its membership in an online vote of more than 340,000 members. "MoveOn members are feeling the Bern," said Ilya Sheyman, executive director of MoveOn.org Political Action

... Traditionally, candidates who have attracted strong evangelical support have in part emphasized the need to lend a helping hand to the economically stressed and the least fortunate among us. Such candidates include George W. Bush, Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum. But Cruz's speeches are marked by what you might call pagan brutalism. There is not a hint of compassion, gentleness and mercy. Instead, his speeches are marked by a long list of enemies, and vows to crush, shred, destroy, bomb them. When he is speaking in a church the contrast between the setting and the emotional tone he sets...

The coalition government has come to agreement on a law which will make it easier to deport foreigners who break German law. Foreigners who commit crimes such as sexual assault will in the future be more easily deported from the country, that is if a law agreed upon by the interior minister and the justice minister in Berlin on Tuesday is passed. According to the draft law, refugees will lose their right to asylum if they commit a crime that comes with a jail term of longer than a year, reports broadcaster N-tv. ...

Mainstream outlets have used polar bears to show the alleged dangers of climate change, but now this left-wing mascot is making its way to the big screen. Norm of the North will bring environmentalist propaganda back to theaters with its story of a talking polar bear who rescues his Arctic home from a housing development project "for the one percent." The film's writers pit eco-friendly protagonists against Mr. Greene: a greedy CEO who calls ordinary people "peasants," says things like "wake up and smell the profits" and "it doesn't matter if I'm corrupt," and hides a caged a polar bear...

Hillary Clinton tries very hard to convince people she isn't 68 years old. Case in point, the Democratic presidential front-runner appeared on "Ellen" Monday morning and hit a particularly cringe-worthy version of the "Dab," the new dance popular with NFL players and eleven-year-olds across the country.

ohn Sununu — whom Donald Trump has insinuated is unintelligent — fired back on Monday, calling the billionaire developer and Republican presidential front-runner a "lefty liberal" who's "thin-skinned" and "all mouth." In an explosive interview with Newsmax TV's Steve Malzberg, the former New Hampshire governor who also served as chief of staff to President George H.W. Bush, lashed out at Trump's nose-thumbing barb which was reported by the Wall Street Journal.

On Monday night urban radio show host Tavis Smiley told Megyn Kelly Barack Obama has failed black Americans as president. Megyn Kelly: On the subject of race, are we better off today that seven years ago? Tavis Smiley: I'm not sure we are and I think ultimately the president missed a moment... On every leading economic issue, in the leading economic issues Black Americans have lost ground in every one of those leading categories. So in the last ten years it hasn't been good for black folk. This is the president's most loyal constituency that didn't gain any ground in...

I believe that Browning had the traits of all great inventors. First, they are brilliant in that they can conceive an idea, then picture it and finally have the tenacity to stay with the concept until the job is done. Let's talk about L.P. Brezny. Brezny is one of those guys who is hard to put a handle on. He hails from the windswept plains of South Dakota and is a former policeman - think old cowboy and sheriff with some trapper and mountain man thrown in. But what Brezny is first and foremost is a shooter. Everything from shotgun...

Late Have I Loved You -- On the Delay of Marriage in Our Culture and the Flawed Notions That Underlie It Msgr. Charles Pope-- January 11, 2016 -- In football, if the offense takes more than thirty seconds between plays, they are penalized for "delay of game." The result is lost yardage; they are now farther away from the goal line. The delay thus brings loss; progress toward the goal is hindered; victory becomes less likely, not more. I'm sure the offense would always like a little more time in the huddle in order to ensure that everyone knows...

"Ninety percent (of U.S. terrorist attacks) are from these white Caucasian men," Avilla told his class. "And by the way I am not saying white men are evil - but that is what we should be thinking about. Usually they are people who are religiously motivated and politically conservative."

The Powerball lottery has reached a record high of $1.4 billion. On Wednesday night, someone might win the jackpot and — even if they don't actually take home $1.4 billion — become incredibly rich in a matter of moments. Billionaire Mark Cuban has some idea of what that's like. Cuban recounted the moment he became a billionaire on an episode of James Altucher's podcast: "I was sitting in front of a computer, naked, hitting the refresh because we were close — waiting until my net worth hit that billion when the stock price got to a certain point, and then...

"Millennial College Graduates: Young, Educated, Jobless," reads a Newsweek headline. "The Youth Recession: The New Normal for Young Workers," is another headline in The Atlantic magazine. "Why Skills Are Not Enough to Land a Job," blares a recent story from The Nation, decrying a new normal of "baristas with BAs." However, it's an urban myth that college grads are stuck in jobs working as Starbucks (SBUX) baristas, says new analysis from the New York Federal Reserve. "While there is some truth behind the popular image of the college-educated barista, this portrayal is really more myth than reality," say New York...

Gun collectors could be forced to apply for a licence and undergo background checks even if they only own deactivated weapons if European Union (EU) officials get their way. Critics have called the proposed legislation "excessive," and have accused the EU of harassing responsible gun owners. EU officials have deemed the last round of regulations, introduced in 2008, to be inadequate, claiming that they leave Europe "vulnerable to criminal activity." European leaders have agreed, vowing in the wake of the Paris attacks to "rapidly examine" the new proposals with the intention of approving them at a summit in February. The...

Two weeks ago I wrote that the GOP establishment fears Ted Cruz more than Donald Trump. What has transpired over the last two weeks has proven that hypothesis. Here’s what I wrote then: Cruz is the larger threat to establishment because, if he wins, they lose all the levers of power. McConnell and his allies would be tossed out of organizations such as the Republican National Committee, National Republican Senatorial Committee, National Republican Congressional Committee, etc... If history is any guide, the sitting president of a political party has a large leeway in choosing those in key power positions. That...

It's hard not to wonder: Is the stock market telling us something? True, the market's record in forecasting recessions is horrendous. Stocks often move according to whim or fad. But just because the market is wrong much of the time doesn't mean it's wrong all the time. Could last week's turbulent trading be one of the times it's right? By Friday's close, stocks had dropped 6% for the week, a paper loss of $1.5 trillion, says Wilshire Associates. Are we staring at the next recession? The selloff originated in China with a weaker-than-expected report on manufacturing activity. This triggered a...
