The U.S. Postal Service on Friday reported a net loss of $1.5 billion during the first three months of this year, noting that while more people are using its shipping and package services, it’s costly to do and revenues from other products have declined. The Postal Service is an independent agency that receives no tax dollars for its day-to-day operations but is subject to congressional control. It has asked to end most Saturday deliveries, a request that was blocked by Congress amid opposition by postal unions and others. …

If you are watching the news, or were listening to Mark Levin’s rant last evening, the subject du jour is the Senate passage 96-1 of the Corker-Cardin bill. Yes, that is Tennessee’s own Republican Senator Corker, who obviously has his political eye set on a future in the White House. The bill is advertised by Republican leadership as a great victory giving Congress 30 days to review the President’s secret nuclear treaty negotiations with Iran before enactment. Under present law, the President cannot execute a treaty with a foreign nation unless it has the approval of 2/3 of the Senate....

The Conservatives won an impressive come from behind victory last night. I thought it would be interesting to compare the actual outcome, to the outcome that would have occurred with a German-style proportional representation system. In that system, seats are assigned in proportion to vote share, but only to parties getting at least 5% of the vote. I’ll show the number of seats under the German regime, with the actual number won in parentheses. The difference is stunning: Conservative 273 (330) Labour 226 (232) UKIP 93 (1) Liberal Dems 58 (8) SNP 0 (56) Others 0 (23) I suppose the...

“See, it is I who created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its work. And it is I who have created the destroyer to work havoc; no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD. (Isaiah 54:16-17)

The event was spurred in part as a reaction to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) "Stand with the Prophet" conference in January in which radical Islamic leaders from around the United States attacked those who have "defamed the Prophet" as responsible for the rise of Islamic extremist groups and the "world wide hatred of Muslims." The CAIR-sponsored event in Garland took place in January of this year just after the Islamic terrorist massacre of the cartoonists working at the Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine in Paris. Geller's event also sought to commemorate the victims of the Paris attack. According to...

Speaking at a forum at Rancho High School in Las Vegas, Nev., on Tuesday, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton answered questions about how she thinks the government should deal with the LGBT illegal aliens in the United States. [Snip] I think that we have to do more to provide safe environments for vulnerable populations. And that certainly includes the LGBT community, also includes children, and it includes unaccompanied children. There are just--there are groups of people who I think we deserve a higher level of care, because of the situations that they are finding themselves in.

Four Egyptian kids who dared make fun of ISIS in a harmless video are headed for trial along with their teacher on charges of “insulting Islam,” after their Muslim neighbors got hold of the footage and went to police. Aged between 15 and 16, the youths could face up to five years in a youth detention center—while the teacher would serve any sentence he receives in prison—if the court finds them guilty of violating Egypt’s blasphemy law, Egypt-focused activists say. Egyptian Christian and civil rights groups are leading calls for their release, but the five—members of the Coptic community that...

A Detroit-based local news anchor found herself in hot water this week after making a comment connecting Michigan’s large Muslim community to potential ISIS threats. During a Wednesday broadcast on NBC-affiliated WDIV-TV Local 4, anchor Carmen Harlan discussed a possible ISIS-connected threat in the state. “Given the fact that we have the largest Arab population outside of the Middle East, I guess this should not come as a real surprise,” she said. Seeing as the state has a substantial Muslim population, several organizations spoke out against Harlan, calling upon her and the network to officially apologize, the Lebanese Examiner reported.

On Thursday a federal appeals court ruled that the NSA’s wholesale collection of Americans’ phone and Internet communications actually is not authorized by the controversial USA Patriot Act, as current and prior administrations have argued. As reported by The Wall Street Journal: The ruling greatly increases the pressure on Congress to make significant changes—or end outright—the surveillance program. The judges not only ruled against the phone program, but sharply criticized many of the legal theories upon which the U.S. government has built out its surveillance capabilities since the 2001 terror attacks. The Obama and Bush White Houses have used the Patriot...

The Obama administration violated the injunction imposed on Obamnesty by Federal Judge Andrew Hanen. The lawyers handling the case for Obama were told on Wednesday that Jeh Johnson and the Department of Homeland Security had given out thousands of Social Security numbers and work permits in direct violation of the injunction. Judge Hanen is already considering harsher sanctions against the Obama administration for passing out SS numbers and work permits to over 100,000 illegal aliens after telling the judge they weren’t doing that very thing. The new charges are far worse. Whereas their first violations was part of a program...

An aircraft, reportedly an Airbus A400M military transport aircraft on a test or trial flight, crashed just outside of SevilleÂ’s San Pablo airport at 1 p.m. Spanish time on Saturday, local media reported. Ãlvaro MartÃn, editor of Sevilla Web Radio, told The Spain Report that locals know the aircraft type very well as it makes several low test flights around the area each morning: “people knew straight away it was one of the A400M”. The Spain...

Not wanting to court danger, the Boca West Country Club has refused to host the Palm Beach Republican Party's "Lobsterfest" dinner that advertised controversial Islamic critic Geert Wilders as the keynote speaker. Geert was part of the Garland, Texas, cartoon contest that invited participants to draw the Prophet Muhammad. Islamic law prohibits any image of the prophet to ward off idol worship. However, extremists have violently attacked or threatened with death anyone who has published a drawing or depiction of Muhammad over the years. The belief was what prompted extremists to attack the headquarters of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo,...

(You will hear and obey me) Baltimore will soon be the first national police force that Obama promised and Al Sharpton has been promoting. (I’m waiting for the IRS to announce they made a mistake and instead of owing taxes, Sharpton has a 20 million dollar refund coming) For a while it looked like Ferguson would hold this distinction after Eric “Fast and Furious” Holder announced that the police force there was racist, but they weren’t willing to roll over. Obama will force it on them eventually, but Baltimore will be the first. The mayor of Baltimore, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has...

President Barack Obama said at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser in Portland, Ore., yesterday that he is “not a scientist,” but that: “I can understand science.” Obama made the remark as he talked about his agenda for fighting global warming. “That’s why we’re taking actions through the EPA to make sure that we cut carbon pollution that’s produced from power plants,” he said. “It’s the right thing to do.” …

My mother was not only angry in 1950. She was pregnant and scared; seeking a D&C. Thank God my Granddaddy Dr. Martin Luther King, Sr. had seen me in a dream in 1947; and he was looking and waiting for me. Granddaddy and Daddy promised to help Mother through that first unexpected pregnancy. I was born to A. D. and Naomi Ruth Barber King on January 22, 1951. Over the years, Mother recovered from her anger, finding grace in Jesus Christ. If my family had followed the abortion friendly path prescribed below, I and my siblings may never have...
