One of America’s most astute businessmen, known for having expanded the Las Vegas strip of resort hotels and casinos in the 1990s, says the U.S. remains mired in an economic funk and any talk of a broad recovery is “pure fiction. A lie.” Steve Wynn, the 73-year-old founder and CEO of Wynn Resorts, made the comments in a televised interview with Jon Ralston of PBS’ “Ralston Live.” He opened the Wynn Hotel and casino in Macao, China, in 2006, and is known as an international gaming and casino magnate. Wynn’s Macao operation recently reported a 28 percent quarterly loss in...

This morning Hillary Clinton promised to go even more overboard on illegal invasion than has Obama: It might be the early days of the Democratic primary, but Hillary Clinton on Tuesday appeared to move straight to the general election, challenging the Republicans to attack her on immigration by moving beyond President Barack Obama on the issue. “This is where I differ from everyone on the Republican side,” Clinton said, speaking at a roundtable at Rancho High School in Las Vegas, surrounded by a group of Dreamers. “Make no mistake, today not a single Republican candidate, announced or potential, is...

Wisconsin knife law dates back to the 1950's and before, and like a lot of weapons law, has been very selectively enforced. If you were a minority, and spent time in Milwaukee, you were treated one way; if you were not and lived North of the Madison- Milwaukee line, you had little to fear. Most people had no idea that belting on their hunting knife, and putting on a jacket, made them subject to arrest for carrying a concealed weapon; and they were mostly justified because the police did not enforce the law. Except when they wanted to, against...

This past weekend, noted progressive-Christian writer Rachel Held Evans published a widely shared and widely read piece in the Washington Post decrying the Evangelical church’s shallow attempts to appeal to Millennials by trying to make church “cool.” Ms. Evans critiques hashtag campaigns, young-adult groups with names like “Prime” and “Vertical,” and concert-style worship services. She mocks talk of “market share” and “branding,” and in so doing sounds every bit as traditionalist as those who despise the praise choruses of the typical Evangelical megachurch and long for the simple “old-time religion” of their grandparents. But that’s not really her point. Evans...

DALLAS – Jim Wright, a veteran Texas congressman who was the first House speaker in history to driven out of office in midterm, has died. He was 92. The Harveson and Cole funeral home says Wright died early Wednesday morning. He'd been living at a nursing home in Fort Worth. Wright represented the Fort Worth area for 34 years, beginning with his election in 1954. He was the Democratic majority leader in the House for a decade, rising to the speakership in January 1987, to replace Tip O'Neill. But after about two years as House speaker, Wright was charged with...

Elizabeth Warren says she has no intention of jumping into the 2016 race. But she recently met behind closed doors with members of the “Draft Warren” movement who are urging her to run for president. The Massachusetts senator held a private meeting April 22 with a small group of progressive leaders from across the country — including some vocal “Draft Warren” supporters who continue to hold out hope that she’ll enter the presidential race.

AND NOW... amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke... it is time for... that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-The-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, serving humanity simply by showing up, and he’s not retiring until every American agrees with him - do NOT doubt him - with shrieks of joy at the mere mention of his name (that’s Rush, for those in Rio...

Many economists expected a rebound after last month’s soft jobs numbers, but the ADP National Employment Report released Wednesday shows little sign of such a turnaround. The domestic economy added only 169,000 jobs in April, according to the Wednesday report, and March additions were revised down from an original 189,000 to 175,000. This is the second consecutive month of sub-200,000 job additions, which previously hadn’t happened in a single month since January 2014. Service-providing firms added 170,000 positions last month, with the most pronounced month-over-month gains seen in the professional/business services and trade/transportation/utilities sectors. But goods-producing jobs shed 1,000 positions...

A number of reports have surfaced in the last few weeks that corroborate a story Judicial Watch broke in mid-April verifying that ISIS is operating in a Mexican border town just eight miles from El Paso, Texas. This includes the startling development over the weekend that the Islamic terrorist group claimed responsibility for a shooting at a “Muhammad Art Exhibit” near Dallas because it was considered to be anti-Islam. JW’s report was based on intelligence from a Mexican Army field grade officer and a Mexican Federal Police inspector and was met with denials from both the U.S. and Mexican government...

Get ready for another ride on the economic roller coaster. Last week, we got bad news about the economy when it was announced that the US gross domestic product barely rose in the first three months of 2015. And it looks as though the 0.2 percent annualized growth reported by the Commerce Department for the winter months will turn into a contraction when revisions are made at the end of May. Worse, GDP in the second quarter hasn’t gotten much better. The Atlanta Federal Reserve’s GDPNow, which tracks the economy in real time, has GDP growing at a wimpy 0.8...

-so as to to split the conservative vote and hurt Cruz in support of hyper-lame Gee-Oh-Pee 'favorite' Jeb Bush Mike Huckabee is a decent guy -and good Christian, from all appearances- but he's also a Big Government 'conservative' who'd love to expand bureaucracy/tell you how to live... I was particularly put-off by his trashing (2008) of American business as somehow inherently bad and in-need of government control. Anybody demonizing the American free-enterprise system as a whole is obviously a kook, disingenuous... or both. Huckabee's lower-middle-class populism could only appeal to the uninformed or willingly-deluded -like union members- because wide-open, free-market capitalism is...

I am in the process of hiring some candidates for some job positions. It's incredible what a wonderful resource FaceBook has been in helping me screen candidates and not waste my time interviewing (God forbid hiring) many candidates. Ms. Smith: a cover letter showing enthusiasm. Resume shows relevant experience. I check out FaceBook. She has neon blue hair and a nose ring. NOPE! Ms. Dow: A perfectly written cover letter highlighting how she's a fit for the job. The resume reinforces this. A trip to Facebook shows "B****es will F**** your man!" is the first statement she has posted on...

Offended by a depiction of the Prophet Muhammad etched in marble inside the U.S. Supreme Court chamber, a coalition of Muslim organizations is quietly pushing to have the artwork sandblasted into propriety. A petition signed by 16 groups across the country has asked that the larger-than-life frieze of great lawgivers be altered "in the spirit of religious tolerance and pluralism" because Islamic tradition discourages artistic renderings of people, and showing the face of Muhammad is considered particularly offensive. The Supreme Court refused to comment publicly on the controversy, but coalition spokesman Nihad Awad said there already has been one "fruitful"...

Jon Stewart spent much of Tuesday night's "Daily Show" going after GOP presidential candidates that he believes couldn't possibly win the nomination, including Carly Fiorina, Ben Carlson and Mike Huckabee. But he devoted an entire segment of the program to one candidate in particular that he says needs to get the boot now."There are so many hopefuls in the Republican race, we've got to start narrowing the field," Stewart said. "Let's do it with a game I call 'Let's Get Rid of Ted Cruz!'"Cruz, Stewart said, can't even live up to his own standards.Stewart played a clip of the...

Greece has revealed it is to introduce a surcharge for all cashpoint withdrawals and financial transactions in a desperate attempt to prevent citizens withdrawing their money from the country's beleaguered banks. Ministers hope the controversial move could raise as much as €180 million, which the Athens government hopes will help the country avoid defaulting on debts owed to international creditors. As the Greek economy teeters on the verge of bankruptcy, millions of panicking citizens have completely cleared their accounts - pulling more than €28 billion out of banks and pushing the total cash revenue held in the country's financial institutions...

Today's Ted Cruz news: Cruz "accused the Obama administration Tuesday of bungling, asserting that federal officials should have intercepted the two men shot dead Sunday before they reached an anti-Muslim conference in Garland. 'Once again ...we have radical Islamic terrorists who this Administration knew about and yet failed to connect the dots and prevent this act of terrorism,'" Cruz said. It is laughable that the District of Columbia, the most powerful City state in the world, puts the phrase, “Taxation without Representation” on its automobile license plates. Their whining is ridiculous. The government of the District of Columbia is the federal government of the United States of America and because of this the District of Columbia is omnipotent. It is we, the people of the United States who suffer Taxation without Representation. Supposedly acting in our name, because it funds almost everything to one extent or another, the federal government puts its hand into our lives multiple times a day;...
