Pray for our American Heroes and Nation

TOPICS: Prayer
KEYWORDS: military; pray; prayer
There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.

Wonderful, righteous, holy and pure Father God, we humble ourselves before You this day. Apart from You, we can do and are nothing. BUT GOD, because of His love for us, rich in His mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus. (Eph. 2:4-6)

As we read our scripture in Proverbs 6 today, we see those things listed that You hate and are detestable to You. We agree with You! We see these things in our Nation, Sir, and come to You for help. We need Your rich mercy and grace to save us. It is one function of Your Holy Spirit to convict people of their need for You. We ask You to speak to those who are in darkness so that they can come into Your marvelous Light. We say to them:
“Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen".

Giving You thanks and glory for each member of our Armed Forces, we ask You to shelter each precious servant under the shadow of Your wings. Return each one to his family and community as a soldier in Your army, filled with a zeal for increasing Your Kingdom.

Thank You for being such a loving God and for hearing and answering prayers which are according to Your will. We give You all the glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.

I’d like to pray for a specific hero... my wife...

Dear God, I know my wife is there with you. Thank You for accepting her into your glorious kingdom. Please tell her that I am sorry... sorry for not telling her how wonderful she was and for not telling her I love her every single day. Thank you God for the time I had with your angel. Amen...

The School Of Pain
May 6, 2015

I know, O Lord, that Your judgments are right, and that in faithfulness You have afflicted me. —Psalm 119:75

In his book The Problem of Pain, C. S. Lewis observes that “God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.” Suffering often helps us to redirect our focus. It shifts our thinking from immediate circumstances so we can listen to God concerning His work in our lives. Life as usual is replaced by a spiritual schoolroom.

In the Old Testament, we read how the psalmist maintained a teachable heart even during painful circumstances. He accepted them as orchestrated by God, and in submission he prayed, “In faithfulness You have afflicted me” (Ps. 119:75). Isaiah the prophet viewed suffering as a refining process: “Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction” (Isa. 48:10). And Job, despite his laments, learned about the sovereignty and greatness of God through his troubles (Job 40–42).

We are not alone in our experience of pain. God Himself took on human form and suffered greatly: “For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps” (1 Peter 2:21). The One with nail-scarred hands is near. He will comfort us and teach us in our suffering.

Dear Lord, life is so hard sometimes. I confess that I don’t always see Your purpose in my trials. Help me to trust You, and teach me to become the person that You desire me to be.
We learn the lesson of trust in the school of trial.
INSIGHT: Psalm 119 speaks of the priority and sufficiency of God’s Word in the daily life of the believer. Here the psalmist admitted that he had strayed, but having been disciplined by God, he now resolved to “keep [His] Word” (v. 67).

How beautiful that you view your wife as a hero! Inspirational!

Father God, you gave envisio a helpmate who has gone before him into Your presence. We agree in prayer today for a permanent lifting of grief for him. Holy Spirit, as our Comforter, be his companion, guide and best friend. Lead him in the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake and give him your wisdom in every step he takes.

We also ask you to provide earthly companionship and care.

Thank You, Sir, for the great love You have for him and the comfort of knowing that his “angel” is in his future. This is because Jesus’ shed His blood and was made Lord so that we who believe can spend eternity with You. We bless You, Jesus, and thank You for Your great love. Amen.

Thank you for the lovely prayer.

She was my hero because of the way she raised daughters.
She was my hero for lifting me out of the depravity that I was in. I’d surely be dead, killed in a motorcycle crash or drank myself to death.
She was my hero for fighting that devil cancer without ever losing faith.
She had more courage and tenacity and love and kindness in her little finger than I do my entire body.

Thank You

Beautiful. My guess is that she would say the same thing about you. Have you heard Philip Craig & Dean’s song, “Voices from the Other Side”? I think it would bless you.You can check it out on Youtube.
