President Obama may have lied repeatedly while telling Americans that they would be able to keep their insurance plans if they liked them, but according to The New York Times, that’s not a lie – that’s just a slip of the tongue. “Mr. Obama clearly misspoke when he said that,” the Times editorial board spun. Then the Times said that the fib was totally justified, since Americans had to be convinced to give up their insurance for better insurance plans under Obamacare – as though the free market does not allow people to do that already.

I think we have the winner in the "If a Republican or conservative had said it" media bias category this year, if not this decade. In the book "Double Down" by liberal journalists Mark Halperin and John Heilemann (reviewed by Peter Hamby at the Washington Post on Friday), President Barack Obama, while discussing drone strikes in 2012, reportedly told aides that he's "really good at killing people." This would have been headline news three seconds after Hamby's review, and Hamby would have headlined it himself instead of casually mentioning it in Paragraph 11. A Google News search on an obvious...

The National Insurance Crime Bureau has issued its latest report on vehicle theft in the United States and the Chevrolet Camaro is officially the most stolen sports car in America – with the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger also being among the most popular vehicles in America with car thieves. The National Insurance Crime Bureau study began on January 1st 2009 and ran through December 31st 2012, focusing on 2010, 2011 and 2012 model year vehicles so this report is more or less a study of new sporty car thefts. Based on the criteria of this 4 year study, the...

SPOTSYLVANIA, Va.—In politics, it is generally not a good omen when a candidate’s supporters argue that he still has a chance of victory — if the opponent’s supporters neglect to vote. But this was Virginia Republican Chairman Pat Mullins’s version of the power of positive thinking in an interview this weekend. The path for star-crossed GOP gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli, Mullins said, looks like this: “If turnout is in the 30s, the low 30s, we’re gonna win. If it gets higher up in Fairfax [in Democratic-leaning Northern Virginia], say like 40, it’s likely we won’t. I don’t think it’s going to...

On Friday, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) defended Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, telling Obamacare critics at an event in Memphis to "get over it." "Change is hard. Get over it," Cohen said, according to National Journal. "Barack Obama is president, and the Affordable Care Act is the law."

I admit I often demonize abortion supporters in my mind. The ones I usually deal with are the hard core industry or political types, and they can indeed come across beyond cold and calloused. Nevertheless, having been convicted through Scripture, I’ve been trying (although admittedly failing as often as I succeed – but I’m getting better, truly!) to more even-handedly communicate with them. This week I read Romans 15:15-16 and took the passage our direction. The pertinent sentence: I’m doing this because God gave me the gift to be a servant of Christ Jesus to people who are not Jewish....

October 30, 2013 (LiveActionNews) - I recently read an account from a 17-year-old who was 24 weeks pregnant and was pressured by abortion clinic workers to abort her baby. The testimony appeared in the book Bitter Fruit: Women’s Experiences with Unplanned Pregnancy, Abortion, and Adoption. I did not find this book to be biased towards the pro-life position. The author seems to take, as far as is possible, a neutral stand. Nowhere in the book does she condemn abortion or claim that adoption or parenting are better options. When 17-year-old Darla (last name not given) became pregnant, her mother wanted...

When a class of Palestinian ninth graders in Gaza recently discussed the deadly 1929 riots over access to the Western Wall in Jerusalem, it was guided by a new textbook, introduced this fall by the Islamist Hamas movement. … What Gaza teenagers are reading in their 50-page hardcover texts this fall includes references to the Jewish Torah and Talmud as “fabricated,” and a description of Zionism as a racist movement whose goals include driving Arabs out of all of the area between the Nile in Africa and the Euphrates in Iraq, Syria and Turkey.“Palestine,” in turn, is defined as a...

Tehran did its utmost to conceal the mystery blast which last week struck the heavy water reactor under construction at Arak in western Iran. It is revealed here for the first time by DEBKAfile’s intelligence and Iranian sources. The explosion, whether accidental or not, will delay for a second time the reactor’s first test with real fuel. Tehran informed the International Atomic Energy Agency in August of a previous holdup. The cause of the blast and the extent of the damage it caused have not yet been established. According to the partial information initially reaching our sources, it occurred inside...

Remember when several states sought to defund Planned Parenthood because they didn’t want public money to go to an abortion provider? Oh, the screaming! These laws were so uncompassionate, PP’s defenders screamed, denying poor women basic health care! Yet, when Texas law required that abortionists have admitting privileges within 30 miles of an abortion clinic–which would not in any way prevent the clinics from providing poor women ”basic health care”– 12 Planned Parenthood clinics closed. From the CBS DFW story: Planned Parenthood will close a dozen clinics on Friday after a federal appeals court reinstated most of the state’s controversial...

Just as you once disobeyed God but have now received mercybecause of their disobedience,so they have now disobeyed in order that,by virtue of the mercy shown to you, they too may now receive mercy. For God delivered all to disobedience, that he might have mercy upon all. Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God!How inscrutable are his judgments and how unsearchable his ways! For who has known the mind of the Lordor who has...

“If you like your health-care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health-care plan, period,” President Barack Obama told the American Medical Association in July 2009. “No one will take it away, no matter what.” Those promises now have tens of thousands of Alabamians, including some who supported the president’s plan, asking what went wrong. USA Today says about 80,000 Alabamians will have their health insurance policies canceled, while the Associated Press pegs the figure at closer to 90,000. The one certainty is that people statewide will be scrambling for new health coverage at significantly higher rates as cancellation letters...

A Toronto-bound flight was stopped shortly before departure from Caracas when four Iranians and an Afghan were found aboard with fake tickets and no visas, Venezuelan officials said Saturday. The captain of Air Canada Flight 075 discovered there were five extra passengers aboard his flight as it was scheduled to depart late Friday, said Luis Graterol, the head of the Simon Bolivar Maiquetia International Airport. All those on board were forced to disembark and military officials identified the suspicious passengers, Graterol told the state-run Venezuelan News Agency. The Iranians and the Afghan "did not have a visa to enter Canada,...

Practicing physicians like orthopedic surgeon Dr. Robert Nirschl, who have watched politicians and health policy for decades, are experiencing first-hand the effects of Obamacare — something Nirschl calls “absolutely insanity.”“It is in fact socialized medicine, and the other issue is, of course, this is a huge transference of productive wealth,” the Washington, D.C.-area doctor said.He opposes the law for two primary reasons: 1) Americans are losing the insurance they had before, and 2) doctors must comply with a morass of paperwork requirements that adds no value to the doctor-patient relationship.“The patient is stuck two ways,” Nirschl said. “Number one, the...

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who lost the 2012 election to President Barack Obama, said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday that he believed New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie could “easily” become the GOP presidential nominee in 2016 and “save our party.” Christie most recently made national news when he decided to drop a legal challenge to rulings in New Jersey state courts that declared same-sex marriage legal there. And not long before that, he changed his position on the question of whether illegal aliens should get in-state tuition rates at New Jersey state colleges. Now he backs legislation...
