Back in the day, Mickey Mouse attempted suicide and fought opium smugglers Intrepid readers will remember that one time Mickey Mouse and Goofy espoused the salubrious effects of amphetamine-laced soft drinks. The truth is, that helium-voiced cartoon rodent weathered many a dubiously family-friendly moment during his early years. Let's look at those occasions Mickey tried to kill himself and extolled the virtues of gigolos. Perhaps the most bizarrely bleak Mickey adventure was the story arc that ran from October 8 to October 20, 1930. According to cartoonist Floyd Gottfredson, Walt Disney was inspired by the 1920 Harold Lloyd comedy Haunted...

Today, at the United Nations, the Obama administration is turning its back on Israel. For the very first time, the U.N. Security Council has invited the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights to “brief” the Council specifically on the subject of Israel and the commissioner’s list of trumped-up sins. Though the U.S. is a veto-holding power, the extraordinary move has full American approval, despite the fact that the global soapbox will be handed to Navi Pillay, a notorious anti-Israel partisan. Moreover, the American-backed action exposes President Obama’s profound weakness on the international stage. It turns out that the deal to...

ABC News’ Michael Falcone reports: In what is now a well-known exchange from ABC News’ January 2008 Republican presidential debate at St. Anselm College in New Hampshire, Mitt Romney declared “I like mandates” when asked by moderator Charlie Gibson about his approach to health care reform in Massachusetts. But there’s another moment from the debate that’s getting more traction after yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling — on in which Romney says “yes,” when asked is the health reform law he ushered in as governor constituted a tax. GIBSON: ”Governor … you imposed tax penalties in Massachusetts?” ROMNEY: ”Yes, we said, look,...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Now, I got a note from a friend of mine, former prosecutor in the Department of Justice. Over the weekend we were e-mailing back and forth, a bunch of us, just appalled at all of the so-called conservative intelligentsia. We're trying to find silver linings here, and some of the most peculiar things were being said in support of Justice Roberts' ruling. We were beside ourselves. We were asking ourselves, "What is so hard to see about reality here when it hits you between the eyes?" And my buddy sends me this note. He said, "I wish...

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said he felt "called" to leave the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), or Mormon Church, to join the Catholic Church in a Sunday interview on NBC's "Meet the Press." Rubio – who is currently being considered as a vice presidential nominee by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who is a Mormon – explained that his mother decided to join the LDS Church after the family moved to Las Vegas when Rubio was eight years old. Some of Rubio's relatives were, and still are, members of the LDS Church, so the family had some...

Posted on June 28, 2012 by I.M. Citizen Before you look to do harm to Chief Justice Roberts or his family, it’s important that you think carefully about the meaning – the true nature — of his ruling on Obama-care. The Left will shout that they won, that Obama-care was upheld and all the rest. Let them. It will be a short-lived celebration. Here’s what really occurred — payback. Yes, payback for Obama’s numerous, ill-advised and childish insults directed toward SCOTUS. Chief Justice Roberts actually ruled the mandate, relative to the commerce clause, was unconstitutional. That’s how the Democrats got...

Last weekend Tarmoh, 22, thought she earned the third spot behind winner Carmelita Jeter and runner-up Tianna Madison. But shortly after receiving her medal and participating in a news conference Tarmoh found out officials were waffling on who took third. Felix and Tarmoh crossed the line in an identical time of 11.068 seconds. Track officials said they had no guidelines for such a situation. Tarmoh, one of the greatest sprinters in Central Coast Section history, told the Associated Press on Sunday night: "In my heart of hearts, I just feel like I earned the third spot. I almost feel like...

Amazing what happens while your internet connection gets wiped out, isn't it. Today's breaking news is that Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts originally voted to strike down the mandate in Obamacare, but then changed his mind and sided with the liberal members of the court. Or so CBS reports. Chief Justice John Roberts initially sided with the Supreme Court's four conservative justices to strike down the heart of President Obama's health care reform law, the Affordable Care Act, but later changed his position and formed an alliance with liberals to uphold the bulk of the law, according to two...

Last week, Entertainment Weekly ran a story on an emerging trend: gay people in public life who come out in a much more restrained and matter-of-fact way than in the past. In many ways, it's a great development: we're evolved enough not to be gob-smacked when we find out someone's gay. But it does matter nonetheless, it seems to me, that this is on the record. We still have pastors calling for the death of gay people, bullying incidents and suicides among gay kids, and one major political party dedicated to ending the basic civil right to marry the...

Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr.’s decision to side with the court’s liberal bloc and uphold Obamacare raises an important question for conservatives: Why are Republicans so awful at picking Supreme Court justices? Democrats have been virtually flawless in appointing reliable liberals to the court. Yet Republicans, more often than not, appoint justices who vote with the other side on critical decisions. Just compare the records over the last three decades. Democrats have appointed four justices — Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Stephen G. Breyer, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor. All have been consistent liberals on the bench. Republicans, by contrast, have...

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Colo. (CBS4)- A local couple who claim to be Satanists believe they’re a victim of a hate crime and were targeted because of their religious beliefs. Someone cut down a political poster stating, “VOTE SATAN” from their front porch where they live in Mountain View, a suburb of Denver. “We are Satanists… Satanists,” said Luigi Bellaviste. Luigi and Angie Bellaviste belong to the Church of Satan. They even have a Satanic Bible in their home. The couple is upset because a poster they had hanging from their front porch was recently cut down. poster Satanists Claim Theft Is...

Teamsters President James P. Hoffa writes in The Detroit News that the U.S. government should offer subsidies for companies to return outsourced jobs back to American soil. But buying back these jobs with tax money is unlikely to have any meaningful impact on the economy and be rife with special favors to Congressional cronies. It won’t have a meaningful impact on the economy because — despite all the national attention given to the subject — outsourcing is rare in the United States. The entire country lost just 10,378 jobs to other countries from outsourcing in 2009. But jobs are being...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Let's go to Nancy Pelosi. This is yesterday on Meet the Press, David Gregory said, "To the extent that you believe, others believe, the Supreme Court has conferred an extra level of legitimacy on ObamaTax, reality is that the court also said that the act is in effect a tax, that the individual mandate requiring people who can buy insurance is a tax. Won't that make it more difficult to sell the popularity of this program to the American people?" PELOSI: Who is the penalty on? The penalty is on people who have the wherewithal but refuse...

On March 12, 1804, the first generation of our Founders impeached sitting Supreme Court Justice Samuel Chase. This Constitutional authority has been used to remove 7 Federal Judges and force many others to resign in disgrace. We submit that Justice Roberts has failed in his sworn oath to uphold the Constitution in at least 5 ways. Chief Justice Roberts "amended" Federal legislation by rewriting the words of the duly elected Representatives of Congress changing "penalty" to "tax". (Article I, Section I) Even should one accept Marbury v. Madison in allowing judicial review, never has it been found that the...

The Plaintiff alleges that candidate Obama is not eligible for that office because he is not a "natural-born citizen" within the meaning of Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution of the United States. Because I find that the plaintiff has not and cannot state a cause of action for the relief requested under Section 102.168, Florida Statutes, I grant the motions to dismiss with prejudice. The respective major political parties determine their nominee at a national convention pursuant to rules that the parties draft and approve. The Presidential Preference Primary Election in Florida is an integral part of that...
