Last weekend Tarmoh, 22, thought she earned the third spot behind winner Carmelita Jeter and runner-up Tianna Madison. But shortly after receiving her medal and participating in a news conference Tarmoh found out officials were waffling on who took third.

Felix and Tarmoh crossed the line in an identical time of 11.068 seconds. Track officials said they had no guidelines for such a situation.

Tarmoh, one of the greatest sprinters in Central Coast Section history, told the Associated Press on Sunday night: "In my heart of hearts, I just feel like I earned the third spot. I almost feel like I was kind of robbed."

...never understood why there was not a “run off”...two people to decide...make it a day or two later. If they never had a situation like it, they should have had plans for it!

Jeneba Tarmoh has conceded her spot in the 100 meters rather than race against training partner Allyson Felix.
IIRC, Jeneba Tarmoh already qualified in the 200 meters so conceding allows both her and Allyson Felix to go to the Olympics.
Nice touch (even if she does sound bitter).

I remember the lower photo, but not the reply you had in #3 for close finishes. I guess they should have measured the hair lengths of those horses to determine the winner.

Ummm...not quite. FELIX qualified for the 200m by winning, but Tarmoh finished 5th...out of the money.

But Tarmoh DID qualify for the 400m relay.

By not doing the run-off, she is giving up any chance of individual competition.

Not much to admire there.

She knows that she cannot win that race, but has a decent chane in the 4x.
