Strategic Defense: With Iran on the verge of a deliverable nuke, the administration tells our allies in the dead of night that we will scuttle missile defense plans in Eastern Europe to please the Russians.Czechs are used to betrayal by their Western allies. It was at Munich in 1938 that British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain sealed their doom in exchange for a piece of paper promising "peace in our time." The fact that this further gutting of missile defense came on the 70th anniversary of the Soviet invasion of Poland on Sept. 17, 1939, is an eerie coincidence. "Just after...

Well, life could always be worse. We could all be living in the UK. From MailOnlineWith its emphasis on re-using old materials or selling them as scrap, Mark Howard's bicycle shop is a model of environmental efficiency. So you might have imagined that his local council would be grateful to him for enhancing the area's green credentials. But instead the father of four has been hit with a £180 fine - because officers refuse to believe he doesn't create any commercial waste.Libertas

I'm hearing that Barack Obama plans on making the rounds of most of the Sunday morning news shows this upcoming weekend, and I'm thinking; What? We don't already know you're in favor of health care reform? Of cap and trade? Of just about anything a "right" thinking leftist loves and adores? Has there been a day -- or even an hour in any day since January 20th of this year -- that the President hasn't been on the airwaves, imploring us to believe the sky was about to fall down upon our heads for real this time? Surely, as an...

I'll keep this short and sweet . Have always owned PCs . Not a fan of Microsoft or Gates , but XP works well in the computer I have owned for 7 years . Hate having to purchase anti-virus protection and get tired of all the annoying , daily updates . But PCs give you more bang for the buck , and money is tight for me right now . Windows 7 is just around the corner , and by all reports it sounds like a winner . But I read just yesterday that Apple will release a re-freshed iMac...

BATON ROUGE - Governor Bobby Jindal has issued an executive order cutting off current and future state funding to ACORN following a series of incidents captured on videotape and the subpoena of documents from the group’s national headquarters in New Orleans by the state attorney general's office. Can somebody...can anybody...who can get to O'Reilly, smack that ignoramous upside the face! What an arrogant baffoon! He's got Gallagher and Tammy Bruce on there right now and is as much as implying that the people just don't like Obama, and neither Tammy or Mike are doing anything to point out the dishonesty in BOR's position. That all the opposition to him is because they just don't him! What an asshole! It has nothing to do with "liking" or "disliking" him; but everything to do with the commie/marxist/closet muzzie/ anti-American that the man demonstrates to be on a daily basis!...

I'm sure New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd and former President Jimmy Carter derive a great deal of self-satisfaction slandering other people with false charges of racism, but the damage they're doing to race relations is worse than any bona fide racist could dream of doing. I ask you: Who is more likely racist, the person who sees race every time she turns around or the person who aspires toward colorblindness? Could those always pointing the accusatory finger be projecting their own discomfort with race? Listen to how Maureen begins her snarky Sept. 12 column, in which she posited that...

You lie? No. Barack Obama doesn't lie. He's too subtle for that. He ... well, you judge. Herewith three examples within a single speech — the now-famous Obama-Wilson "you lie" address to Congress on health care — of Obama's relationship with truth. (1) "I will not sign [a plan]," he solemnly pledged, "if it adds one dime to the deficit, now or in the future. Period." -SNIP- Every Congress is sovereign. Nothing enacted today will force a future Congress or a future president to make any cuts in any spending, mandatory or not. Just look at the supposedly automatic...

Not the worst numbers he’s had this summer, but to see this much skepticism on this many aspects of ObamaCare this late in the game — and after his Beyond Thunderdome speech to Congress — is simply devastating. I’m going to tick them off rapid fire here while saving the punchline for the end. Do you favor/oppose the current plan: -10 (38/48, up from 34/49 last month) Will seniors be better/worse off under the plan: -11 (23/34) Will your family be better/worse off: -14 (22/36) Do you prefer ObamaCare/the current system: -9 (37/46) Do you favor/oppose requiring everyone to buy...

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – The California lawmaker who spearheaded a high-profile anti-obesity effort across the country's most populous state is now training his sights on sugar-sweetened drinks. Sen. Alex Padilla, who led a campaign requiring big restaurant chains to disclose calories in meals, said on Thursday he planned to hold hearings in November on the link between soda consumption and obesity. The announcement from Padilla -- who chairs the California Senate's Select Committee on Obesity and Diabetes -- coincides with the release of a study that shows nearly two-thirds of children aged 12 to 17 gulp down at least one...

Remember William Rivers Pitt proclaiming He Parked It about Obama's ObamaCare speech last week? Please toss that down the memory hole. What has inevitably happened with most of Pitt's pompous pronouncements is that he has done a complete 180 as you in this THREAD, "Back to the Health Care Drawing Board." The new operative phrase is "He Blew It" and we will get to the full money quote later in this DUFU edition. However, is anyone here really surprised? One of the things that Pitt is most famous for is his perpetual self-contradiction. Want Pitt to change his mind?...
