LONDON, England (CNN) -- In the developing world millions of people struggle to operate machinery, read from a blackboard, or just see the world around them, because they don't have access to the eye glasses they need. Self-refraction glasses let the wearer adjust the lenses to suit their vision, without the need for an optometrist. But a pair of glasses developed by Joshua Silver, a physics professor at the University of Oxford, offers an affordable solution. The glasses can be adjusted to the right strength by the wearer, without the need for them to visit an optometrist. A major reason...

Completely aside from the individual lies and nonsense—for example, counting Hamas police and hundreds of men whose obituaries praised them for being brave militia fighters as civilians—this report is a disaster for human rights and peace. It will legitimate one of the world’s most war-provoking, repressive regimes and validate a strategy that uses civilian suffering and war crimes as central features.

MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Hotaru Ferschke just wants to raise her 8-month-old son in his grandparents' Tennessee home, surrounded by photos and memories of the father he'll never meet: a Marine who died in combat a month after marrying her from thousands of miles away. Sgt. Michael Ferschke was killed in Iraq in 2008, leaving his widow and infant son, both Japanese citizens, in immigration limbo: A 1950s legal standard meant to curb marriage fraud means U.S. authorities do not recognize the marriage, even though the military does. Ferschke and his bride had been together in Japan for more than a...

The White House says President Barack Obama doesn't believe he's being criticized because of his race. Spokesman Robert Gibbs said Wednesday that Obama -- the nation's first black president -- doesn't think that criticism of his policies is "based on the color of his skin." Gibbs was asked about the topic following comments on Tuesday by former President Jimmy Carter. Carter said that Rep. Joe Wilson's outburst during Obama's speech to Congress last week was "based on racism." Carter also said "There is an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president." Gibbs says...

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed today that he declined last night to take a call from the U.S. informing him of the decision to scrap planned missile-defense bases in his country. Two U.S.-based sources close to the Polish government said Thursday that Tusk also rejected a call from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton — on the grounds that, as the head of the government, he should speak to the president.

Recent revelations make it increasingly likely that the Democratic National Committee was aware of Barack Obama's eligibility problems before certifying his nomination for president. But has anyone considered that perhaps the choice of a compromised candidate for that office was not accidental but deliberate?

A new Gang of Four centrist senators on Thursday expressed confidence that Senate Finance Committee chairman Max Baucus' (D-Mont.) healthcare proposal could garner bipartisan support. The long-awaited Baucus plan faced scrutiny from Republican and Democratic senators after the sixth-term Democrat released it yesterday. Sens. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), Ben Nelson (D-Neb.), Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), issued a joint statement saying that the Baucus bill was "an important and critical step forward with this legislation." "We will continue to work together in the full Senate on bipartisan health care reform that reduces costs, improves care, and expands access," the...

LONDON: In a new research, a scientist has found that prehistoric man navigated his way across England using a crude version of a satellite navigation system, which was based on stone circle markers. According to a report in the Telegraph, the research, by historian and writer Tom Brooks, shows that Britain’s Stone Age ancestors were “sophisticated engineers” and far from a barbaric race. Brooks studied all known prehistoric sites as part of his research. He found that the prehistoric man was able to travel between settlements in England with pinpoint accuracy, thanks to a complex network of hilltop monuments. These...

This protest sign sums up the only pathetic argument the liberals seem to have and it sure is getting old. On the brighter side – when the left pulls out the race card it means they have lost the debate. As pointed out by a fellow conservative blogger - 1) They are not discussing a substantive issue, nor are they making a point. Rather, they have admitted to being 100% wrong and having no point whatsoever by relying on an ad hominem logical fallacy. 2) They expose themselves as racists by refusing to hold all people to the same standard...

In mortgages, there's a trick that mortgage professionals use to hide costs. It's called "rolling in the costs". It's pretty simple. Let's say you owe $115,000 and closing costs are $3000. So, a mortgage broker will simply make your loan $118,000. The $3000 in closing costs are "rolled into the loan". They don't go away. Borrowers just don't see them because there aren't any out of pocket expense associated with them. Instead, you just owe that much more on your mortgage. You'll get that much less when you sell and your payment is that much higher. You aren't winning. All...

Lyrics to Obama's version of Simon and Garfunkel's "Sounds of Silence." The video is at http://www.creativeminorityreport.com/2009/09/obamas-sound-of-silence.html Lyrics: Hello ACORN, my old friend/ I cannot talk with you again/ Because a vision softly creeping/ Of hidden cameras that went peeping/ from a story the press could not contain/ cannot remain/ Within the sound of silence/ In Martha's Vineyard I walked alone/ 'Til Teddy's funeral I had flown/ And his story I did revamp/ 'Cause He drove his car into the cold and damp/ But his death may yet help my healthcare plight/ And split the right/ And keep the sound of...
