A new Gang of Four centrist senators on Thursday expressed confidence that Senate Finance Committee chairman Max Baucus' (D-Mont.) healthcare proposal could garner bipartisan support.
The long-awaited Baucus plan faced scrutiny from Republican and Democratic senators after the sixth-term Democrat released it yesterday.
Sens. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), Ben Nelson (D-Neb.), Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), issued a joint statement saying that the Baucus bill was "an important and critical step forward with this legislation."
"We will continue to work together in the full Senate on bipartisan health care reform that reduces costs, improves care, and expands access," the group added, leaving open the possibility of Republican support for the bill.
Key among the four senators is Snowe, a member of the original Gang of Six who Baucus previously relied upon to provide bipartisan backing to his bill. The centrist Republican backed away from supporting the plan on Tuesday despite Baucus' long courtship with her and Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.)
It appears as if Baucus now has an opportunity to regain Snowe's support.
How can the Dems possibly pass the Baucus bill when libs like Howard Dean are saying THAT?
No matter what these idiots pass we are screwed. It will be just different levels of government control and taxes. All they have to do is get anything passed and it will grow into a socialist monster in no time at all.

I loved Maine when I was a kid...and into young adulthood, even southern and mid coast Maine...my mother was from Maine...the people were tough, independent and conservative.
Then the invasion of the Massholes started...it is disgusting what they have done to it...
Just when you thought it might be dead. Back to the phones and faxes.
And our ‘darling’ Senator Claire McCaskill has to jump into this. She is such an embarrassment to our state (Missouri).
To put it in her own words, we “have every right” to fire her. She’s gone in the 2012 election!
Please, dear Lord, let us NOT elect Robin Carnahan next year...
It looks like big business has spoken...they are going to get socialized health care so they can dump their workers into the cesspool, while the unions get their own private health care paln paid for by the taxpayer.

Our beebers are stuned.
Since Lieberman is an I, wouldn’t it be a tri-partite health care proposal?
“Since Lieberman is an I, wouldnt it be a tri-partite health care proposal?”
I think you could say they are performing a threesome with an unwilling America...
BOHICA alert
Baucus bill not going anywhere. Liberals like Jay Rockefeller are strongly AGAINST it. So, making the easy assumption that the Baucus bill is DOA, what happens to ObamaCare in the Senate? Can the whole Senate cobble out a bill and wouldn’t that take quite a bit of time?
