Well, not exactly: HuffPo says yes but it sounds like he’s merely been reassigned within the NEA. Anyway, it wasn’t Beck who took him down: He spent some airtime on it but all the legwork was done by Big Hollywood and the Washington Times. Progressive media won’t get the same Two Minutes Hate mileage from blaming those two as it will by blaming Beck, though, so expect the narrative to congeal very quickly around this being another coup for GB and Fox. When, oh when, will our president stop caving to pressure from the right-wing mob by firing Truther nuts...

Can anyone tell me if President Bush had any Czars in his administration? Specifically a Czar to oversee the war in Iraq? I didn't think he did, but a liberal friend of mine insisted that he did.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Congressional aides say the Obama administration has chosen a Colorado natural resources official to be the new agriculture undersecretary in charge of the U.S. Forest Service. Harris Sherman, executive director of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, is to be nominated as soon as Thursday. The congressional aides familiar with the decision spoke on condition of anonymity because the White House had yet to announce it.

Dear MoveOn member, Last night, President Obama challenged Congress to "meet history's test" and finally fix our broken health care system. He pledged to seek common ground between Democrats and Republicans, and assured them all: "My door is always open." Republicans responded by heckling, booing, and hissing. Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) screamed out "You lie!" as the President defended his health care plan against false right-wing attacks. We can't afford to let right-wing extremists like Joe Wilson hold health care reform hostage. As Obama put it, "the time for games has passed. Now is the season for action." Let's send...

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) kicked off the new campaign on Thursday to create a national security push to pass climate change legislation. Climate change, Kerry argued, will likely trigger some of the most critical threats to national security in the future, and should be addressed with aggressive action this year. His speech was the keynote address at a conference that the American Security Project, a bipartisan national security think tank, hosted at The George Washington University. The event was titled, not so subtly, “The Day Before,” and marks the eve of the eighth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Kerry, chair...

If Republicans act like Democrats we don’t need Republicans. Obama has a penchant for making HC speeches that alter his intent. Just like his recent 157,929th news conference/HC speech, he indicted the Cambridge Police as “Stupid” while defending his friend, Hahvad Professor Louie Gates. HC was put on the backburner while Barack played racial politics cover-up at a beer fest. Last night, SC Republican, Rep. Joe Wilson blurted out the words “YOU LIE!” after one of the many fibs told by our Dear Leader. Never mind Barack Obama called millions of Americans liars for objecting to what’s actually in House...

Many people around the world are interested in learning more about the growing open carry movement in the United States, particularly when and where they can open carry too! . . . Key points everyone should know about open carry, i.e., the practice of carrying holstered unconcealed functional handguns (functionality includes being loaded): 42 states permit open carry in public 26 states require no license to open carry Only 7 states ban open carry in public California allows open carry in many or most parts of rural areas, but figuring out precisely where it is banned (i.e., that guns must...

Pardon my vanity, but I wanted to share my own personal gov. run health care experience. First alittle background, I have been unemployed for about 2 years. My wonderful hubby lost his job about 6 months ago. We have no health insurance. Our teenage daughter is covered by Wisconsin Badgercare (state run insurance). Our daughter had her first tooth filled in July of this year. It was a molar that chipped and decayed. All was fine until labor day weekend when the filling started to become loose. I called the clinic where the work was done and they informed me...

CRESCO - A state trooper checking on a Monroe County man who failed to report to his job made a horrifying discovery: the unconscious victim lying in his home, his right hand bitten off by a pit bull inside the residence. John M. Venezia, 48, of Cresco, was taken to Pocono Medical Center, where state police at Swiftwater said he remained in intensive care Thursday. According to police, a trooper who went to Mr. Venezia's home on Red Rock Road in Paradise Twp. on Tuesday about 8:45 a.m. found the victim in the hallway, unconscious due to a medical condition....

America is not a Christian nation. We are, it is true, a nation founded by Christians, and according to a 2008 survey, 76 percent of us continue to identify as Christian (still, that's the lowest percentage in American history). Of course, we are not a Hindu—or Muslim, or Jewish, or Wiccan—nation, either. A million-plus Hindus live in the United States, a fraction of the billion who live on Earth. But recent poll data show that conceptually, at least, we are slowly becoming more like Hindus and less like traditional Christians in the ways we think about God, our selves, each...

Appearing on The Today Show this morning, Vice President Biden said he believes "we'll have a [health care] bill before Thanksgiving." Biden is making the rounds on cable television this morning, discussing his optimistic prospects for health reform following President Obama's speech last night.

Here is video of GOP House Minority Leader John Boehner speaking today and fact checking President Obama's speech last night. He points out that many people could be forced out of the employer-provided health plans if Obama's plan is adopted. He also countered Obama's contention that no illegal aliens would be covered by Obama's Government Plan. The Democrats have already rejected amendments that would keep illegal immigrants from receiving coverage. . . . (VIDEO)

In the rich tradition of Patriots who founded this great Republic, U.S. Representative Joe Wilson, R-SC, called out the President of the United States on a statement that has been proved time and again to be a lie...a bare faced lie. The whole thing took place on national TV in the House chamber as Obama addressed the nation on his 1.2 trillion-dollar plan for the government to take over healthcare. Wilson has made us proud. He is a hero to adherents to the Constitution and those who cherish the ideology and methods of the Founders of the Republic. Shall we...

Rich Lieberman sends word that KNEW (910 AM) has dropped Michael Savage as of this morning. The station's program director, John Scott, was quoted on Lieberman's Web site as saying that they were "headed in a new direction and a new mind set at this station. Savage does not fit in any longer." Coming from a guy who still puts Glenn Beck on the air, this is, to say the least, confusing. Word on the street points to internal friction with station management; losing Savage's significant salary might also have been a factor.

From the BNO Newsroom. COLUMBIA, South Carolina (BNO NEWS) -- A day after South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson's outburst in Congress during President Obama's speech, political figures from all fronts are condemning his actions. But not only political leaders are voicing their outrage, also citizens are taking part. About 18 hours after his outburst, Wilson's Democratic opponent, Rob Miller, had received more than 11,000 individual grassroots contributions raising more than $400,000, a spokesman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee told BNO News. "It's a shattering amount," he said, while adding that contributions are still coming in.

When my kids were younger, one of their favorite stories was Dr. Seuss' "If I Ran the Circus," a book that describes young Morris McGurk's dream for putting together the most amazing circus ever, a show that will be, in McGurk's words, Colossal! Stupendous! Astounding! Fantastic! Terrific! Tremendous! I have similar dreams - only, rather than dreaming about a fantastic circus, I dream of putting together the ideal school. I'd start by ungluing students from their seats. There would be plenty of movement in my dream school. Every K-12 student would have P.E. every day, with classes teaching swimming, dancing...
