Latest MoveOn Missive: "You Lie"
9/10/09

Posted on 09/10/2009 12:18:32 PM PDT by FrdmLvr

Dear MoveOn member,

Last night, President Obama challenged Congress to "meet history's test" and finally fix our broken health care system. He pledged to seek common ground between Democrats and Republicans, and assured them all: "My door is always open."

Republicans responded by heckling, booing, and hissing. Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) screamed out "You lie!" as the President defended his health care plan against false right-wing attacks.

We can't afford to let right-wing extremists like Joe Wilson hold health care reform hostage. As Obama put it, "the time for games has passed. Now is the season for action."

Let's send a message to Congress, demanding swift action to pass real health care reform. Clicking here will add your name to the petition:

http://pol.moveon.org/passhealthcare/o.pl?id=17208-10389527-o1GKCjx&t=3

The petition says: "Don't let right-wing extremists hold health care reform hostage. Pass President Obama's plan, including a strong public health insurance option."

The plan the president outlined last night was comprehensive, ambitious, and deeply progressive.

It would help the hundreds of millions who already have health insurance by making coverage more competitive and more secure. No one would ever be turned away because of a pre-existing condition or dropped because they got sick. And you'd never again have to worry about arbitrary caps on how much insurance would pay for your care.

For those without insurance, Obama's plan would finally offer quality, affordable coverage—including a strong public health insurance option that would keep the private insurance companies honest. And across the board, his plan would rein in skyrocketing health care costs for consumers and businesses.

Thanks to President Obama's leadership, the path is now clear. But it's up to Congress to act. Sign the petition now to make sure they're not held hostage by right-wing extremists. Clicking here will add your name:

Thanks for all you do.

If there’s one thing MoveOn can’t stand, it’s people named Joe Wilson heckling the president.

In an interview with CNN afterward, Sen. John McCain trashed Wilson’s heckling and urged him to apologize.

Obama pledged to seek common ground between Democrats and Republicans, and assured them all: "My door is always open."

Mega-Liar Obama has refused to meet with any Republican on health care since April.

You know what’s the best thing about this whole Obamacare fiasco?

People in far greater numbers know the spin techniques and lies.

Nowhere in this email did it say how Joe Wilson lied or what he said Obama lied, it does not say what Republicans reacted to, just that they did.

Of course this is the moveon.org mailing list and any Congresscritter worth a damn is going to dismiss it out of hand as astroturf.

MoveOn is perpetually serving in the defense of liars.

Have you ever debated one of these ninnies? They never let facts confuse them. Their definition of fact is foreign to me. "It's a fact, Obama said...." "It's a fact, the IPCC said...." "It's a fact, all doctors agree...."

Facts include numbers that add up, science, or truth you can touch and see with your own hands and eyes. The biggest problem with a "fact" remains, there must be some intellectual, logical, cognitive reasoning skills in the brain of a person who is expected to accept or deny anything as factual. You can only sell the fact that a ball is round if the audience knows what a ball is and what round means. Thus, a liberal will never understand how taxes work let alone how a free market economy is supposed to operate when they can't comprehend the idea of self reliance and just reward for hardwork, talent and productivity. They will never understand TINSTAFL.

Hmmm

It will provide more security and stability to those who have health insurance. It will provide insurance to those who don't. And it will slow the growth of health care costs for our families, our businesses, and our government. It's a plan that asks everyone to take responsibility for meeting this challenge – not just government and insurance companies, but employers and individuals.

Most people would say that a government order that requires people to get health insurance, even if they don't want to spend their own money that way, is far more than "asking" everyone to do what obama wants. Obama is ordering people to take responsibility for things that are not properly part of the government's role in our lives.

What this plan will do is to make the insurance you have work better for you. Under this plan, it will be against the law for insurance companies to deny you coverage because of a pre-existing condition.

That will make insurance more expensive for everyone. If my insurance company has to cover expensive conditions and can't charge the individual extra for that, they will have to charge everyone extra.

We will place a limit on how much you can be charged for out-of-pocket expenses, because in the United States of America, no one should go broke because they get sick.

No thank you! My family has high medical expenses, much higher than average, so I might "win" at the expense of my neighbors from this scam. It's still wrong. It is important to keep copayments, and not cap them, because they discourage the freequent fliers from bogging the system down too much.

If you lose your job or change your job, you will be able to get coverage.

Able to? Just kidding! Actually, Obama will REQUIRE that you get coverage, even if you would rather spend your limited funds on food and clothign for your family. You don't get to choose - Obama will make your choices for you.

For those individuals and small businesses who still cannot afford the lower-priced insurance available in the exchange, we will provide tax credits, the size of which will be based on your need.

And obama promises that this will be revenue neutral. I can see why he's called a liar.

That's why under my plan, individuals will be required to carry basic health insurance – just as most states require you to carry auto insurance.

States have the power to regulate auto insurance, since they license drivers and automobiles, but where does obama claim he gets the power to tell us how to spend our money? Oh, yes, he has fans at the NYT who think China is better because its communist leaders are "enlightened" dictators. I guess they think obama is "enlightened" too, but I prefer freedom, even if it is used to make different choices than Obama would make.

... that we plan to set up panels of bureaucrats with the power to kill off senior citizens. Such a charge would be laughable if it weren't so cynical and irresponsible. It is a lie, plain and simple.

I would like to hear exactly what savings we are getting by reducing our expenditures on the most expensive patients, the sick and the elderly, and how we are doign that without directly or indirectly rationing care to those who lack the connections or the future earnings potential to get past obama's oligarchs.

I want to clear up – under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions, and federal conscience laws will remain in place.

Really??? After all the efforts to force pharmacists to participate in killing babies, to force doctors and nurses to participate, and to fund abortions worldwide, socialized medicine is going to leave out the only medical procedure that democrats consider a constitutional right? I have only one wordfor my answer: LIAR!

Now, I have no interest in putting insurance companies out of business.

See my last word in the above paragraph.

First, I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits – either now or in the future. Period.

See my last word in the above paragraph.

And to prove that I'm serious, there will be a provision in this plan that requires us to come forward with more spending cuts if the savings we promised don't materialize.

We all know how well that has worked in the first $11T of deficits. See my last word in the above paragraph.

Second, we've estimated that most of this plan can be paid for by finding savings within the existing health care system – a system that is currently full of waste and abuse. Right now, too much of the hard-earned savings and tax dollars we spend on health care doesn't make us healthier. That's not my judgment – it's the judgment of medical professionals across this country. And this is also true when it comes to Medicare and Medicaid ... The only thing this plan would eliminate is the hundreds of billions of dollars in waste and fraud, as well as unwarranted subsidies in Medicare that go to insurance companies – subsidies that do everything to pad their profits and nothing to improve your care.

So ... the people who created the Medicaid system that is full of waste and abuse are going to save us money ... how?
