MY PUBLIC GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTH CARE NIGHTMARE! (VANITY)

Pardon my vanity, but I wanted to share my own personal gov. run health care experience. First alittle background, I have been unemployed for about 2 years. My wonderful hubby lost his job about 6 months ago. We have no health insurance. Our teenage daughter is covered by Wisconsin Badgercare (state run insurance).

Our daughter had her first tooth filled in July of this year. It was a molar that chipped and decayed. All was fine until labor day weekend when the filling started to become loose. I called the clinic where the work was done and they informed me I had to get approval from the state for a root canal or extraction. I explained she was in pain and I would pay cash, but they refused and insisted on waiting for the state approval. Since Tuesday I have been on hold, waiting for a call back, told to call a different number or leaving messages with this wonderful state run health plan to get approval for dentalwork.

Well today was the last straw and I feel terrible I didnt do something sooner. I called a local dentist and he saw her immediately. It was no cheap date, but worth every penny. He even offered to set up a payment plan if the cost was too much for us.

I can only imagine what a nightmare obamacare would be. Unbelievable!

Now imagine a single payer system where paying for "special" treatment would be illegal like Hillary originally proposed and Obama wants eventually but was smart enough to only ask for half a loaf for now.

Yeah, they left out the part about punishing the doctors, but they doubled the penalties for being a patient.

I ran a health care clinic in Ohio in the early 80s that was 60% welfare patients. It would take **more** than 6 months to get paid by the state, and payments were highly erratic! A few times I had to call my state representatives to ask them to call the state officials to get some money released. It's darn hard to pay salaries and vendors when the state is so slow and irregular in meeting its obligations.

I owned that practice for 2 years and then sold it, and ran a private practice for 20 years.

I swore that if the government ever took over health care, I would quit my profession and do something else. I am now retired. ( Thank goodness!)

Hospital Hell (Dan Aykroyd on Socialized Medicine)
New York Post (FR Thread) 11-19-2003 | Richard Johnson

Posted on 11/20/2003 3:15:45 AM EST by Lancey Howard

November 19, 2003 -- DAN Aykroyd is no fan of the bureaucratic bungling and cut-rate care of socialized medicine. "One place you don't want to get sick is Quebec," the Canadian actor advised us after a screening of Denys Arcand's 'The Barbarian Invasions.' "It's all socialized. Believe me, you don't want to go to a hospital there."
