Can anyone tell me if President Bush had any Czars in his administration? Specifically a Czar to oversee the war in Iraq? I didn't think he did, but a liberal friend of mine insisted that he did.

Google is your friend.....
Of course he had czars (which doesn’t make it right) but he had nowhere near this many.
I remember Clinton had his drug war czar.
He had a few, yes.
IIRC, President Bush had 16 czars.
His “czar” in Iraq? Tell your libtard pal, “GENERAL PETRAEUS.”
He had three or four, I believe (manufacturing, Katrina, 9/11 commission) however, they didn’t have the power that Obama’s Czars have. They were given certain tasks and worked for the commission under a cabinet member. Obama’s Czars, on the other hand, don’t answer to a specific cabinet level position but to the President himself and they also have far more authority over the commission versus the other way around as in prior cases.
Information from Liberals/Progressives must be taken with a grain of salt and checked on google (Lord knows they don't as they should).
Bush had twelve Czars total..
In 2001, with escalating concerns about possible attacks on our information technology infrastructure, Bush named a “cybersecurity czar.”
In 2003, the president’s desire to help his corporate benefactors led to the creation of a “regulatory czar” at the Office of Management and Budget. Around the same time, Bush named his first “AIDS Czar.” (He didn’t choose wisely — Bush tapped Randall Tobias, the administration’s former top advocate of global abstinence-only policies, who was recently forced to resign after procuring “massages” from a controversial Washington escort service.)
In 2004, faced with growing discontent over the nation’s struggling manufacturing industries, Bush appointed a “manufacturing czar.” (He chose the chief executive of a Nebraska company that had laid off manufacturing employees and built factories in China.)
2005 was a banner year for czars. In February, Bush responded to revelations about failed national security intelligence by creating an “intelligence czar.” Shortly thereafter, we had a “bird-flu czar.” A few months after that, following the tragically botched handling of the response to Hurricane Katrina, there was a “Katrina czar.”

This is key. Presidents have had "figure-head" czars in the past and for things like the war on drugs, etc. Nothing rises to the level of power the czars in 0bama's administration have been given. And they are placed in strategic positions. The man is power hungery.
I don’t know as that’s really a “czar” though as Lute needed congressional approval. I know that’s what the press called him but Obama’s czars are not approved.
"Lute must gain congressional approval before he can assume the position.
I thought a real czar doesn't have to go through approval?
If I am correct, I believe GHWB had a drug czar-—William J Bennett in 1989 -—HOWEVER, the position was contingent on SENATE APPROVAL! I believe Clinton had a Health Czar and a few others...GWB had a fair dealing of “czars”; however, as far as I can tell they were 1)either labeled czars by the MSM and/or 2)I could not find evidence of any of these people/positions having bypassed the confirmation process through Congress....hope that helps.
When is a Czar not really a Czar?
It gets worse.... Obama Will Retain Bush's War Czar Douglas Lute
LOL.
Guessed at your name. Please see post above.
When they are vetted I would think. Obama's appointees are true czars. Only Obama has oversight.
