LONDON – British scientists claimed Wednesday to have created human sperm from embryonic stem cells for the first time, an accomplishment they say may someday help infertile men father children. The technique could in 10 years allow researchers to use the basic knowledge of how sperm develop to design treatments to enable infertile men the chance to have biological children, said lead researcher Karim Nayernia, of Newcastle University, whose team earlier produced baby mice from sperm derived in a similar way.

  • Flexibility needed on airport ‘through-the-fence’ access (Obama seeks to further hurt aviation)

AOPA has expressed concern over the FAA’s broad-brush approach that would eliminate all existing through-the-fence access at public-use airports. Aircraft operations involving homes and businesses on private property that have access to airport taxiways or runways are called “through the fence” operations. The problem is of particular concern in the Northwest where the FAA is conducting an inventory of airports that have existing through-the-fence operations and is working with the airport sponsor to eventually eliminate that access. AOPA has written a letter expressing concern and urging greater flexibility in the pending policy. “In many ways, residential airparks or hangar homes...

Over 60 Black and Latino inner city campers show up to use a pool at a private facility. They have only 90 minutes to use the pool and are very excited. One child claims to have overhead a parent say: "Uh, what are all these black kids doing here?' 'I'm scared they might do something to my child". A parent of one of the kids claimed:"The pool attendants came and told the black children that they did not allow minorities in the club and needed the children to leave immediately." As you may already know, it is a sin for a Muslim male to see any woman other than his wife naked. He must commit suicide if he does. So next Saturday at 4 PM Eastern Time, all American women are asked to walk out of their house completely naked t o help weed out any neighborhood terrorists. Circling your block for one hour is recommended for this anti-terrorist effort. All patriotic men are to position themselves in lawn chairs in front of their house to prove they are not Muslims, and to demonstrate they think its okay to see...

Is this what Time magazine meant with their July 6th cover, What Barack Obama Can Learn From FDR? Not one to let "a serious crisis to go to waste," Franklin Delano Roosevelt used the onset of the Great Depression as an excuse to immediately begin delivering New Deal dollars in unprecedented amounts - with laser-like political precision to electorally important parts of the country. He sailed to landslide reelection in 1936 on a federally-funded tailwind. The New Deal is now an old one - as direct mail guru Richard Viguerie describes it, "We've got money, you've got votes, let's talk."...
  • Lady GaGa Wears Mask for Press Conference in Malta: Has She Gone too Far?

Lady Gaga hides her "Poker Face" at a press conference in Malta. Photo: Rene Rossignaud, Pacific Coast News Sure Lady Gaga is known for her traffic-stopping wardrobe (or lack thereof!), but has the blonde taken her attention-grabbing antics too far? As in wearing a full face mask... to speak publicly? (Was she just popping by before a fencing match?) At the press conference for MTV's "Isle of MTV - Malta Special," Gaga informs the press about her face-covering accessory: "it's not just a mask, it's a contemporary art piece." With her voice muffled by the "contemporary art piece," Gaga attempted...

While Barack Obama continues his foreign tour in Italy, trouble is brewing on the home front. His poll numbers are slipping, as Rasmussen reports here, and Gallup does here. The source of the shift is independent voters, particularly in swing states. The numbers are nothing for the White House to fret about, but clearly the president’s shine is beginning to wear off. The main reason for his slump was a depressing jobs report last week that saw unemployment rise to 9.5%. It is soon likely to hit the red letter figure of ten per cent. The $787 billion stimulus package...

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – NBC News has scheduled its controversial to-catch-a-terrorist investigative program, in which an elite team hunts war criminals. "The Wanted" will premiere Monday, July 20, at 10 p.m. with specialists in counterterrorism, foreign intelligence, war crimes and investigative journalism profiling suspected international terrorists. "We hope this program sheds light on an overlooked story," said David Corvo, executive producer at NBC News. "It is surprising how many people with serious accusations against them are living openly and avoiding any sort of judicial process." The project drew criticism when it was first made public in February, with government...

LOS ANGELES – Scientists have detected a spike in underground rumblings on a section of California's San Andreas Fault that produced a magnitude-7.8 earthquake in 1857. What these mysterious vibrations say about future earthquakes is far from certain. But some think the deep tremors suggest underground stress may be building up faster than expected and may indicate an increased risk of a major temblor.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his Washington attorney said Tuesday they will not cooperate with an ongoing Department of Justice investigation into the sheriff's office until the feds name specific charges and reveal what they are looking for. Arpaio also said Tuesday during a heavily attended press conference in Phoenix he will not be intimidated nor back down in his methods of crime sweeps that have netted the arrests of 4,000 illegal immigrants in the last two and a half months. Arpaio's office is accused of racial profiling during crime sweeps and is the target of a civil rights...

The fear on the street is palpable. Ever since the election of Barack Obama as President of these United States in November 2008, coupled with the election of a democrat party majority in both the U.S. House and Senate, concern for the United States and personal safety has ignited like a fire in dry grass. Sales of guns – black guns, rifles, shotguns and handguns (particularly 9mm) everywhere, have gone through the roof. AR15s have literally flown off of dealer shelves, and only now in the spring of 2009, have I seen the display samples of ARs begin to reappear...

An update on how my Granny is doing. The Lord definitely works through prayer. Granny is talking, sitting up, watching t.v. (Fox News, thank you), and doing much better. She keeps saying she wants to go back to rehab so she can get stronger. Prayers answered. She is scheduled to go back today to rehab (which is outside the hospital). The doctors & nurses are flaberghasted at her recovery & of how much she has recovered. We tell them it is the Lord and prayer that is getting her through this. Imagine, a near death stroke has become a witnessing...

July 09, 2009 Hating Palin By Ben Voth As a communication professional I have largely been at a loss to explain the judgments being drawn about Governor Palin by allegedly expert pundits. The general meme from pundits is that Palin is a quitter who cannot take the heat. It seems like the 'heat' has been more like hate -- maybe we are dealing with a simple spelling error? Journalism has gotten rather weak of late. A public figure openly called for Palin to be raped during the campaign. Months after the losing campaign was over, a major comedian joked about...

No apologies for posting consecutively on Barack Obama: the Looney Tunes President’s sell-out of US and Western interests is proceeding at such a speed that it is difficult to keep pace. Well said, Nile Gardiner, for asking if Barack Obama is the most naïve president in American history. The answer is undoubtedly yes – unless he has a secret agenda to cut America down to size. For America voluntarily to reduce its nuclear superiority is madness. Bien-pensant talk of a nuclear-free world displays total stupidity in a global situation where nuclear weaponry is proliferating, not receding. There is even a...
