Is this what Time magazine meant with their July 6th cover, What Barack Obama Can Learn From FDR?
Not one to let "a serious crisis to go to waste," Franklin Delano Roosevelt used the onset of the Great Depression as an excuse to immediately begin delivering New Deal dollars in unprecedented amounts - with laser-like political precision to electorally important parts of the country. He sailed to landslide reelection in 1936 on a federally-funded tailwind.
The New Deal is now an old one - as direct mail guru Richard Viguerie describes it, "We've got money, you've got votes, let's talk." If this is what Time had in mind for Obama to learn, he has proven to be an apt pupil.
And USA Today seems to have picked up on it.

So, we have a modern day Robin Hood. Lovely. I was hoping the lesson would have been that political interference in economics lends to a prolonged recession.
And just like FDR, he’s going for more than 2 terms. “Will of the People” and all that crap.
I think he’s going to try to extend this term, saying that we can’t afford the “turmoil” of an election cycle at this crucial moment in history.
You watch.
That has been predicted for every prez election since Clinton got in office.
I said the same thing about Clinton. I couldn’t believe he left at the appointed time.

Yup, he’s different, but we will still hold an election in 12. It may be a complete fraud, but it will happen.
It is pretty hard to run an economy with just government jobs, leeches, slugs, lawyers, union goldbrickers, movies and media in the equation.
And, when the lion’s share of the stimulus is released in 2010, it will be to those groups who support Dimocraps since most of the members of the House are up for reelection. Many can see BLarney Frank’s attempt to give TARP “profits” back to ACORN. Look at what ACORN did for Bozo Franklin when there were more votes counted than registered voters. This is so predictable!!

But what he’s counting on (like all the Looter/Liberals) is that the people who produce food, fiber, power, heavy lifting and volunteers for our military will keep working no matter what restrictions are put on them, because, it’s in their nature to work and produce. As in Atlas Shrugged, when they tell Hank Reardon that they are going to bankrupt him. He keeps pressing them to tell him why are they doing this. Finally, Taggart says, “Oh, you’ll do SOMETHING!” The socialists expect that the producers will always produce.
