The Pentagon has released a statement confirming that soldiers could be prosecuted for promoting their faith: "Religious proselytization is not permitted within the Department of Defense...Court martials and non-judicial punishments are decided on a case-by-case basis....
The statement, released to Fox News, follows a Breitbart News report on Obama administration Pentagon appointees meeting with anti-Christian extremist Mikey Weinstein to develop court-martial procedures to punish Christians in the military who express or share their faith.
(From our earlier report: Weinstein is the head of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, and says Christians--including chaplains--sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in the military are guilty of treason, and of committing an act of spiritual rape as serious a crime as sexual assault. He also asserted that Christians sharing their faith in the military are enemies of the Constitution.)
Being convicted in a court martial means that a soldier has committed a crime under federal military law. Punishment for a court martial can include imprisonment and being dishonorably discharged from the military.

The establishment and Free Exercise clause forbids the state from allowing itself to support any religion. The free exercise clause prohibits it from denying free exercise of religion to anyone.
IMO this action does not at all abridge the religious freedom of a christian. It simply dissuades a proselytising individual from abridging the freedom or religion of another.
Pretty sure an order banning proselytization would stand supreme court scrutiny.
You’re right. But what this is about is *changing* the military from being 80% Christian into being something else.
In or previous conversation you were thinking I was condeming the current military when it’s the ‘something else’ that I’m worried about. I pinged you on this topic just so you could see an example of why I have such concerns in the first place.
Here’s the deal. We have a list of things regarding Obama that is about as long as the Universe is wide. Most of them are completely legit, some are a little borderline, still others I think are thrown in the mix to make us look like kooks. I am uncertain that this particular issue is really what it appears to be on the surface. The last thing I want to be is a fish in a barrel.
“I pinged you on this topic just so you could see an example of why I have such concerns in the first place.”
Understood, MeganC. You can’t take the lunatic ravings of one Marxist traitor and extrapolate those views onto every member of the military. It doesn’t work that way. Obuma and his commie trolls are making enemies of the best fighting force in the world, bar none.
We’re making a list
And checking it twice...
Gonna find out who’s naughty and nice
“Unfortunately, you speak the truth.”
I prefer to be wrong, but it’s all predicted here:
Revelation 20:4:
Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
John 16:2:
They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God.
God will use the Islamic head choppers who are duped by Satan into thinking they serve God as His tool of judgement, just like He used the Babylonians, Assyrians, and Romans to discipline and judge His people.
Don’t say anything. Just give them a book to read or a link to listen to.
Or Matthew:
Matthew 28 |
|
16 | Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. |
17 | And when they saw him they worshiped him; but some doubted. |
18 | And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. |
19 | Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, |
20 | teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age." |
“I am the way the Truth and the life”
The self-evidence of that is rendered in the free mind of the Individual, not as a result of state-established parrots wearing vestigial plumage left over from some Roman sun-worhipping cult.
YMMV.
“It simply dissuades a proselytising individual from abridging the freedom or religion of another.”
If a Jehovah’s Witness comes to your door, how does his presence abridge your freedom or religion?
I spent 25 years in the US Air force. There were no mandatory religious meetings. In 25 years, no one ever ordered me to believe. There was a lot of peer pressure at times to go bar hopping, perhaps, but never any to go to church.
WTF!!! This stinks and I happen to be Jewish and this still stinks. Obunghole obviously playing to liberal and atheist base trying to make the military a place where conservatives do not want to be
Turn it into an ObamaCorps to serve the (Muslim) World!!
Actually, it means that advocating and practice of sodomy is just fine with this administration but objecting to it as a sin and denouncing it on the basis of religious faith/belief will be treated as a violation of the UCMJ.
Spawn of the devil are running this country.
“Spawn of the devil are running this country.”
And they won’t cede their power peacefully - it’s gonna’ get ugly - but this is OUR country, not theirs - and we want it back!
Hello, MeganC.
Here’s an example of how the military works.
