The Pentagon has released a statement confirming that soldiers could be prosecuted for promoting their faith: "Religious proselytization is not permitted within the Department of Defense...Court martials and non-judicial punishments are decided on a case-by-case basis...”.
The statement, released to Fox News, follows a Breitbart News report on Obama administration Pentagon appointees meeting with anti-Christian extremist Mikey Weinstein to develop court-martial procedures to punish Christians in the military who express or share their faith.

Being convicted in a court martial means that a soldier has committed a crime under federal military law. Punishment for a court martial can include imprisonment and being dishonorably discharged from the military.

Our military has traveled down the same path that society has gone. There was a time when changes in military culture would not mirror social changes forced upon society. That is, acceptance of immoral or amoral behavior embraced by society was not similarly embraced in the military. That has changed, and our military is weaker for that. Open homosexuality, women in combat, removal of references to God, are but a few of the changes that are destroying the moral of the military.
OK, well, I joined in 1998. I’ve been through Clinton, Bush, and, now, Obama. It’s much the same. In some ways better, in some ways worse. Your son never saw the garrison Army like I did. Now that the war is winding down, he’ll get his chance. I hope he likes working long hours for the sake of working long hours and doing all of those wonderful invented tasks NCOs come up with in order to keep Soldiers busy. My favorite was a First Sergeant who made his company flip over rocks in a rock bed b/c they were “too hot.” That kind of crap stopped in a hurry due to high optempo, deployments, and training. Now we’re getting back to stupidity again.
The cultural decay you all are foaming at the mouth to convince me of? I can only shrug my shoulders at it. The military is a subset of our national culture, nothing more. This country has been on the downward slide for a long, long time. Why are you so surprised/angry that some of it has wormed its way into the military? What did you do to stop it before it reached its current levels? Why did you fail me and your son?
Now, as to how bad it is around here. Well, let’s look at that. How long has your employer embraced homosexuals? I can honestly say mine just really started. Can you? While the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy was still in effect, I could easily rattle off half-a-dozen homosexuals within 100m of my workspace. I spoke my piece to those who would listen, not that anyone cares what a Captain thinks, but the policy was repealed by people many, many levels above me. The net effect, so far, has been zero.
You people complain about removal of crosses and this complete B.S. about how we’re going to start court-martialing Christians. Frankly, the Chaplains I’ve run into have always been rather milquetoast or downright not religious. My Soldiers told me about their prior Chaplain who openly watched porn on their first deployment. But, when was the last time you saw a major organization open and close a professional gathering with prayer? We just did last month. Can you say that?
The military (Army in particular since that’s what I know best) has its issues, God knows I know, but these vain attempts to get me to resign my commission in outrage over “what has been done” are just stupid and childish. We’re still professionals doing a job, it’s that simple.
agree I used to always tell my wife that the military is totally different, the sense of humor is different the whole outlook on life is different.
There was no PC, we made fun of everything, we made fun of each other, call each other names, make fun of weight, how small , tall a guy was, how skinny, how crap he was at shooting etc.
It was also a sarcastic sense of humor
Now the military has become like civilians, I told my sons up till a 4 years ago how the military was the best years of my life, these guys I lived, worked and fight with, we go into town, get a woman, have a fight with navy, other units who ever and it was a laugh.
Now I tell him you can’t do anything like that, they have discrimination poor souls who don’t like being called a name, can’t kick someone up the ass because he let the troop down, the unit down etc,
Can’t do anything, now we have to rely on women in combat, what a joke, now homosexuals making dirty perverted comments and officers wearing dresses.
I was told off one poster that the military has no changed, not sure if he;s being watched for his promotion but it damn right has, crosses banned, prayers banned, PC crap, give promotions based on affirmative action
I don’t know about you pal but I think you are like em and it breaks our hearts, to think our boys and other guys cannot have had what we did, to now see a country who thinks the military is a social justice program open to all sorts based on PC

not just your son, I even told about others who have just got back and told me how he saw his officer wearing a dress, how homosexuals tried to get married quarters, how there is a case right now on a camp about homosexuality
some care about promotions but then again when some join for their freebies and not for love of country then it does nto surprise me
Guess the difference is that Christians let you choose to accept their faith as your own and Muslims will do the choosing for you much like the Democrats.
He's been doing this since 2005. I was doing similar invented tasks during my enlistment in the mid to late 70's, as did my older brother when he was a Ranger in the late 60's to early 80's. Same for my father when he was serving in the 50's.

I've not once suggested that you, or anyone else should resign from military service. My only issue is your claim that the military culture hasn't changed much.
For most of the rest of your current post, I completely agree. Well, except that I have failed you and my son. I'm an extremely small minnow in a huge ocean. The tsunami of cultural change that is taking place in the U.S., including the military, is too powerful for one extremely unimportant individual to have an influence over.

This was not my experience when I served. Of course, the www was not invented by Al Gore yet.

For clarification, just exactly what constitutes a "major organization" with respect to this? How many were in that gathering? Are you saying this mass prayer involved an entire base? A division? A battalion? A brigade? A regiment? A platoon? A company?
I work for a public school district in the Sacramento region of N. CA. That should answer a few of your questions. Despite the fact this is CA, and public education, you might be surprised to know there a more conservatives working in schools than you might of believed. I've had conversations throughout this past year with a good many of the people I work with who do not like what is happening to this country, and most of these have included comments on how God is being removed more and more from our lives by the government, and that this is much of the problem with our current societal ills.
Why are you so surprised/angry that some of it has wormed its way into the military?
Surprised? No. Aggrieved? Disgusted? Absolutely! Given who currently controls the political landscape of America, there is no surprise to what is going on.
It’s called professional development; educate yourself. Don’t forget to let you gals out at five so they can pick up their (primarily out-of-wedlock) kids from the post day care center.

It remains quite amazing when one hears or reads of statments made by such people...what’s more is that these statements go unchallenged..as if the norm and acceptable.....chilling to say the least!

You cannot just remove a man's conscience. That vacuum must be filled with something...and that something is 7 demons worse than the first.

If such a court marshal happens today, maybe. If there is no such prosecution for 15 years, once society has become more de-sensitized and more indoctrinated, no way.
We are becoming the pagan society our ancestors once were and most of the world has been. Tacitus called Christians "haters of humanity." Their "crime" was not a political or military revolution-- It was a moral revolution, teaching that there is one loving but righteous God who will judge us all some day; that marriage is holy, and adultery and premarital sex and homosexuality are sins along with drunkenness and lying, etc. They taught that life is precious and should not be discarded lightly. Once a society accepts then embraces those types of conduct things as normal and good, then their reaction to anyone telling them differently is inevitable. Christ said not be surprised if the world hates you for telling the truth.
Never forget that the Constitution is a not divine-- that piece of paper will be interpreted to mean what society wants it to mean. It can't stop human nature from taking its course.
