Jay McKinnon, a self-described Department of Homeland Security-trained document specialist, has implicated himself in the production of fraudulent Hawaii birth certificate images similar to the one endorsed as genuine by the Barack Obama campaign, and appearing on the same blog entry where the supposedly authentic document appears.

The evidence of forgery and manipulation of images of official documents, triggered by Israel Insider's revelation of the collection of Hawaii birth certificate images on the Photobucket site and the detective work of independent investigative journalists and imaging professionals in the three weeks since the publication of the images, implicate the Daily Kos, an extreme left blog site, and the Obama campaign, in misleading the public with official-looking but manipulated document images of doubtful provenance.

The perceived unreliability of the image has provoked petitions and widespread demands for Obama to submit for objective inspection the paper versions of the "birth certificate" he claimed in his book Dreams from My Father was in his possession, as well as the paper version of the Certificate of Live Birth for which the image on the Daily Kos and the Obama "Fight the Smears" website was supposedly generated.

Without a valid birth certificate, Obama cannot prove he fulfills the "natural born citizen" requirement of the Constitution, throwing into doubt his eligibility to run for President.

McKinnon, who says he is 25-30 years old, operates a website called OpenDNA.com and uses the OpenDNA screen name on various web sites and blogs, including his comments and diary on The Daily Kos. In recent years he has divided his time between Long Beach, California and Vancouver, British Columbia. He is a Democratic political activist, frequent contributor to the left wing Daily Kos blog, and a fervent Barack Obama supporter.

"Natural born" simply means he was a citizen from his birth ~ usually on account of his mother's or father's citizenship, and where the birth happened. Several posters have referred to the "law at the time he was born" noting that the law was later changed in the 1970s. It's noteworthy that when the law was changed, it served to clarify the status of all born in similar circumstances who were still living. This happens all the time ~ the old law is repealed and is no longer in effect, and the new law takes over AND it affects everyone alive!

So then based on what you say, B.O. is a natural born citizen.

Feel free to point out where I’m off base but...

1. The DailyKos joked about people thinking it was a forgery when they first posted it because they cropped the image sides.

2. As the discussion went on, posters were joking about how McCains birth certificate would look like (”chiseled on a stone tablet” was one joke). OpenDNA then posted a cleared copy of Obama’s certificate and said “lets make one for him”.

3. Obviously since it was copied from Obama’s it will have the same little black dot in the same place.

Love to be wrong on this, love for this to be a big scandal, but Im just not seeing it.

I agree, the dems wouldn’t run him if they couldn’t prove he’s a U.S. citizen.

While we are focused on whether Obama or McCain is eligible to hold the office of president, and we’re fixed on getting one of them off the ticket, we’re overlooking the real goal.

The goal isn’t to get either McCain or Obama into the White House, the goal is to wait until right before the elections and demonstrate that NEITHER candidate is qualified.

Why? Besides the chaos it would cause in the election, the real intended damage is to ruin the credibility of BOTH major parties.

Neither party is competent enough to select a qualified candidate, even when the very best and the very brightest members devote their full attention to the job, they are sooooo incompetent that they can’t find a single qualified candidate between them.

Therefore neither the democrats nor the republicans belong in power, therefore the American public will be persuaded to throw all the bums out.

It’s no accident that congress has a 12% approval rating, the lowest rating of any government entity since ratings started.

The goal is to destroy the entire American political system.

Recently Rush has posed a question “Who is controlling obama”? He has been very careful not to make a definitive statement but it has occurred to me that he MAY BE following what has been posted here on FR concerning obama.

However, if a person born outside the U.S. qualified for U.S. citizenship at birth (there are different rules for cases in which both parents are citizens, one is a citizen and the other is a U.S. “national” (like American Samoans), and one is a citizen and the other an alien), then he or she would be a “natural-born citizen” for purposes of Article II, sec. 1, cl. 5 of the Constitution and thus qualify for the office of the president . . .

Your #223 is a good summary of the general legal principles. Except when you get here to the end. Fact that a person is a citizen doesn't make him "natural born" under Article II, Sec. 1, (Par. 4, not 5).

Congress cannot define, dictate, or modify the meaning of Constitutional provisions with amending the document.

McCain was a citizen when he came down the shute because both his parents were US Citizens. But he doesn't meet the Article II test because he wasn't born in the US. I don't think the Supreme Court holds that it helps him that the Canal zone was U S Territory but they don't reach that issue because he wasn't born there anyway--he was born in a hospital off the base in Panama.

So then not only is B.O. a citizen, it now also appears from your time-line of events that B.O. is not posting forged documents.

I'm a little late to this B.O. isn't a citizen thingy, but so far I can't come to that conclusion.
