I am lately struck by the similarities between the machinations that removed Nixon and what is going on now.
We are all so indoctrinated about "Watergate" that we rarely remark on the oddity of a man who won 60% of the popular vote and >500 electoral votes being successfully subverted and eventually forced out by an alliance of the Deep State (CIA, FBI), the media, and especially the Congress.
But it IS very odd that it happened, whatever we all may think now, we may all be missing the main story, and since the very same players (CIA, FBI), media, especially WaPo and NYT, and a bunch of slimy characters in Congress are back in action, it would be good to compare and contrast 1973-74 with 2015-now.
Our eyes are focused on what's out in view, not (of course) what's behind the curtain. But "Watergate" (the coup, not the burglary) was hatched behind a curtain, with some of the very same techniques in play today.
Thre are charges being drawn up in secret. They will be leaked according to a hidden timetable. The type and volume of the leaks are in control of those who would remove the President. Act I is to make removal PLAUSIBLE. Once the idiot media consumers get THERE, then Act II will be a drip drip drip of REASONS, which will evoke resistance (hopefully) by >34 GOP Senators making removal seem very unlikely.
This brings us to Act III - the tapes, and the erasure. Of course, it won't be tapes. It will be tax returns, or phone call transcripts edited or missing, or whatever. BUT THE TIMING OF ACT III IS CRITICAL.
Presumably, this time (God willing) the "evidence" will be faked. But if it is dropped on the 1/3 + 1 Senators at EXACTLY the right time, with rallies in their States, pressure from their donors and future employers, and amplified by the din of the "stars" to address the foolish and the "media" to address the thinkers, it is just barely possible they can get to 67.
Understand this is not a roadmap. Adam Schiff is no Peter Rodino. They may have other plans, even another Dallas.
But it is striking how similar the enemy forces are to 1973-74. Even HRC her own self may be putting in an appearance.
Sorry, I just don't see 20 Republican votes to convict.
The Left wanted Nixon impeached in his first term, long before Watergate.
They didn’t want Reagan sworn in and wanted to pursue impeachment over Iran Contra in his second term. They wanted Bush out in his first term because of conspiracies about the 1980 hostages release. They wanted Bush II out in his first term and wanted Abu Ghraib as the excuse.
The peaceful transfer of power was gone by 1960.
But there weren’t enough votes to remove Nixon until the culmination of the most successful propaganda campaign the nation had ever seen.
I think “they” took out JFK.
I think “they” took out Nixon.
I think “they” are desperate to take out Trump.
Nixon was the precedent.
Why would you be surprised? The Democrats only have one playbook, and it’s not very thick. They run the same plays over and over and over and over.
But just as in actual football the more you run a play the less effective it becomes. They got Nixon because in the three channel universe of 1974 they managed to drive his approval number among REPUBLICANS into the 20’s.
Trump is at 90+% with Republicans and it’s solid. The scam is not going to work this time.
Like you, once they’ve exhausted all options, I’m worried about the ol’ .38 caliber electoral vote.

I was reading about Watergate and read that it was two investigative reporters from the Washington Post that got it all started. It looks like they are still up to the same tricks. It worked once they figure it will work again but Trump isn’t Nixon.
Isn’t it interesting that, since the end of WWII, the presidents who arguably tried hardest to raise the US up against the Globalists have been JFK, Nixon, Reagan, and Trump? And somehow bad things happened to each of them ...
We need to retake the house in 2020.
But we also need to hold the senate.

Nixon may have won in a landslide in 1972, but by 1974 the public scene had changed dramatically. Not only did we have the turmoil of the Arab oil embargo in our energy markets, but just look at this comparison of key economic indicators between 1972 and 1974:
1. Unemployment rate: 5.2% (1972) vs. 7.2% (1974)
2. GDP growth: 5.3% (1972) vs. -0.5% (1974)
3. Inflation: 3.4% (1972) vs. 12.3% (1974)
That 1974 inflation figure is staggering. In fact, the combination of negative GDP growth and high inflation made 1974 one of the worst "economic misery" years of the post-WW2 period, rivaling 1946 and 1979-1980.

The senate was 56 to 44 counting conservative independent votes to the GOP. The Dems could do anything they wanted.
