I think “they” tried to get Reagan both ways.

If the House votes for Impeachment based upon the current investigations being conducted it would be the biggest travesty in US History. These investigations are illegitimate since they did not allow the minority to question witnesses, subpoena there own witnesses etc. In fact the subpoenas themselves are illegal. The Constutution says that the House shall initiate Impeachment proceedings, not the Speaker of the House acting unilaterally without conducting a vote of the whole House on weather to proceed. I’ve heard many people on television say that the House can decide for itself what is impeachable but the Constitution says a law must have been broken, “high crimes and misdemeanors”. What law has Trump broken?

“...It worked once they figure it will work again but Trump isn’t Nixon.”

And 2019 isn’t the same world as 1972-4. The media no longer have a stranglehold on “news”.

No dont stop. Bring it to it’s inevitable conclusion. We have Marxists running much of federal and local government. Time to take out the garbage.

The left has control over the MSM and turns it to propaganda, but too many know the truth and have alternative news sources this time around.

It must be remembered that Nixon resigned before he was impeached solely because he lost the support of fellow Republicans.

And has Trump also lost that support? One only needs to look at the House vote against him yesterday.

354-60. Including 129 Repukes.

We need to retake the house in 2020.

That won't be easy.

But we also need to hold the senate.

That might be a little easier. The only potential pickup I see for the Republicans is Jones in Alabama, assuming the good people of Mississippi don't do something stupid like re-nominate Roy Moore. But assuming the GOP flips Alabama then the Democrats need to flip five seats on their own. I don't see them doing that. Gardner in Colorado, certainly. McSally in Arizona, Collins in Maine, and Tillis in North Carolina are all slim possibilities for Democrats to pick up. But even with a worse case scenario I still see 50 seats each with Pence breaking ties.

Current speaker went for meeting with President and others ie some ranking GOP ranking committee members, Chairman of Joint Chief of Staff, etc., speaker yelled at the President then stormed out of the meeting in her way out criticizing WH staffers as incompetents. Deputy Press Secretary said not first time incumbent speaker spoke rudely to the President then stormed out of the meeting. Aren’t there video cameras covering the meeting? Can the White House release the video how the speaker acted arrogantly?

Are we taking into account the difference in character between Nixon and Trump?

There's no way that impeachment will be stopped. To quote one Rat Congresscritter (can't recall which one) "if we don't impeach him he'll be reelected".

The only question is what will be the vote in the Senate? Of course every Rat will vote to remove as will Mittens...and maybe one or two other RINOs. So they'll be about 15 votes shy of removal.

This can’t be compared to Nixon. Nixon actually did what they thought he did in that he tried to hide the illegal actions of his friends. Trump didn’t and they can’t figure out a way to prove he did without evidence of it. One was guilty and should have been impeached and found guilty but he resigned. The other didn’t do anything illegal, can’t be found guilty of nothing, and is not going to resign.

Trump is not Nixon, Trump fights...and the access to, and belief in, the media is very different today than Watergate.

The senate was 56 to 44 counting conservative independent votes to the GOP. The Dems could do anything they wanted

They needed 67 votes to remove Nixon, and they didn't get them until Act III and a huge media blitz.

An additional factor that drove the three you cite is that Nixon began bringing home our troops in Vietnam. And could it be that there was too much money to be made by those who profited from the war to allow Nixon to remain in office? And are there parallels today?

I think “they” took out JFK. I think “they” took out Nixon. I think “they” are desperate to take out Trump.

Until this year, I dismissed the JFK conspiracy theories as silliness. Now that I see our FBI and our CIA conspiring to overthrow our duly-elected President of the United States - just as they have done so many times in other countries - I strongly suspect this is not their first rodeo. You don't jump in to overturning an American election with this much energy unless manipulating the transfer of power in our country has been Standard Operating Procedure for a long time. I'd rather disband the FBI and CIA completely than allow them to continue with this taint in their DNA.

“Watergate” was as big a crock of shit as the current democrat effort. Caving republicans sealed Nixon’s fate as well might our current crop of punters.

One was guilty and should have been impeached and found guilty

That is certainly common wisdom. I was rabidly pro-impeachment in 1974, when I was young and foolish.

But as others have pointed out, JFK, Nixon, Reagan and now Trump did not accept a hidden government of CIA/FBI and their allies in the media and in Congress, and when you see what I claim is the EXACT SAME CAST OF CHARACTERS AND PLAYBOOK as "Watergate", man, you have to wonder...

I think after the news about Iran-contra broke, some Democrats were hopeful that it could be used to remove President Reagan, but that went nowhere.
