Kerry, Watergate: DNC Links Caused Break-In? (Kerry lied! He was still with VVAW JUNE 1972)

WASHINGTON, Feb. 9 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Were John Kerry and the veterans organization he led the real reason the Republicans broke into Watergate in 1972, with information on them the target of the espionage? Was doing so an early onset of Republican political paranoia against his work, a harbinger of the pending campaign against him in 2004?

Bob Weiner, the 1971-72 Youth Voter Registration director for the Young Democrats office at the Watergate headquarters of the Democratic National Committee and recently a Clinton White House staffer for six years, is asking these questions after doing a little research to refresh his memory. Weiner looked in the Senate's Watergate Hearings in volumes held by the Library of Congress and researched Kerry's specific assistance to the Party's '72 effort, a Rhode Island speech supporting youth voter registration, in the Providence Public Library's archives.

Here's what Weiner has confirmed:

James McCord of the Watergate burglars and CREEP (Committee for the Reelection of the President) testified before the Select Committee on Presidential Campaign Activities on May 18, 1973 and was asked by Senator James Inouye (D-Hawaii) why the break-in was conducted. McCord replied, "Democratic national headquarters staff members" were "working closely with violence groups"... "which involved violence and demonstrations against our committee". When Senators Inouye, Lowell Weicker (R-Conn.), Ed Gurney (R-Fla.), and Howard Baker (R-Tenn.) asked for more detail, in each case McCord repeated the "violence" reference but specifically -- and only -- named the "Vietnam Veterans Against the War", accusing them as "a violence-oriented group" (Hearing pages 180, 200, 201, 223-24 and elsewhere, May 18 and 22 testimony).

He was still receiving large cash payoffs when he was V.P. The cash was delivered to his White House office. The money came from his home state of Maryland. I, for one, suspected that Nixon knew all about Agnew getting these pay-offs at the time. Nixon knew about everything going on everywhere. He was more connected politically and more in control of the FBI, CIA and military intelligence than even Clinton was. To his credit, Nixon acted quickly to eliminate Agnew when this corruption came to light. He should have acted as quickly after the Watergate burglary started getting press coverage.

The FBI files also indicate that the VVAW was recieving money from the Communist Party of a country in Europe, from the Communist Party in the USA!

And directions from the Communist Government of North Vietnam.
One cell of the VVAW was making money selling drugs!

To win the primary, the newcomer overcame the election eve arrest of his brother, Cameron, and campaign field director Thomas J. Vallely, both then 22, in the basement of a Lowell building that housed the headquarters of Kerry and another Democratic contender, state Representative Anthony R. DiFruscia of Lawrence. It was almost 2 a.m. - 30 hours before the polls opened - when the two were arrested on charges of breaking and entering with intent to commit larceny.

That day's Sun blared a memorable, double-deck headline: "Kerry brother arrested in Lowell 'Watergate."' DiFruscia, getting some extra ink in the campaign's waning hours, had drawn the parallel to the break-in at Democratic headquarters in Washington three months earlier.

Keep in mind the FBI files indicate that the VVAW was taking directions from the NV Communists.

Remember, he didn't tell his leaders in Vietnam about what he claims he saw there, and he didn't tell the FBI about the plots he knew whle in VVAW.

There were other plots and training going on inside the VVAW at the same time! One involved 20 former GI's training as snipers to decapitate the US Government, kidnapping officials and holding them hostage to force troop withdrawal from Vietnam. Running weapons to a radical group in Cario IL.

After graduation, she became a successful lawyer  and advised the Children's Defense Fund in Cambridge and joined the impeachment inquiry staff advising the Judiciary Committee of the House of Representatives. After completing those responsibilities, she "followed her heart to Arkansas," where Bill had begun his political career. She was a junior legal member of the Watergate investigation team.

What is very interesting in the FBI files is that there was a VVAW chapter in Little Rock, But I haven't found much about that chapter yet.

In the 1950's the heirarchy of the communist party in the US was convicted of planning the violent overthrow of the government. The case went to the US Supreme Court and their convictions were unheld even tho they were only issuing pamphlets on how to organize groups to plan the overthrow.

They were fined, jailed, and at last one was deported.

What happened between then and the 70s when these people plotting assassinations were allowed to go free.

I have only been reading the FBI documents between summer 1971 to February of 1972.

There is reports from FBI sources that VVAW was recieving funds from the CPUSA and from a communist party of a country in Europe, which IMHO could have been behind the Iron Curtain. Someone else I know has been working on the communist connection early on in the group. Some VVAW cells were formed by members of communist groups, some were later populated with members from these groups. A lot of the time the communist groups and the VVAW had offices next door to each other and took part in the same activities.

There was also some concern within the FBI and I am still following the trail that they were planning to assassinate Nixon. This even triggered the Secert Service putting another guard on Nixon's compound in FL, where it was believed the attempt was to happen.
