What Karl Rove Should Tell La Raza

White House adviser Karl Rove is scheduled to speak tomorrow at the annual conference of the federally funded, left-wing, open-borders-advocacy group, the National Council of La Raza.
If he does not want his speech to look like an act of appeasement, he should confront La Raza on its opposition to commonsense policies designed to secure both U.S. borders and U.S. pocketbooks.
La Raza, which means The Race in Spanish, has denounced as horrendous and appalling the House immigration bill passed in December, which was sponsored by Judiciary Chairman James Sensenbrenner (R.-Wis.) and supported by the overwhelming majority of House Republicans. The bill, which calls for tough worksite enforcement of immigration laws and 700 miles of border fencing, was condemned by La Raza as a laundry list of mean-spirited and intrusive provisions concocted by the most radical immigrations restrictionists in Congress.
Will Rove defend the immigration reforms passed by President Bushs party in the House and tell La Raza that House Republicans are neither mean-spirited nor radical? He should. House Republicans deserve Roves support.

They tried a bit of creative writing to make their point. They're good at obfuscating the truth. Misquoting Reagan and Hayworth in the same thread.

The whole first half of the speech is about people coming from all over the world to be AMERICAN.Right, that's what I was saying, in a much different way.

Not the same by far.
When allowed, people will return home after working here...we know that from the example set by the old Bracero program. And you might spend sometime looking up the growth in the illegal alien population in the US, and find out that it began to explode immediately following the shut down of the Bracero program.
If you make it legal to come, work, and go home, you will significantly reduce the number of people trying to enter the country illegally...why enter illegally when there's a legal way to enter?
You can them control illegal border crossers more effectively with less personnel.
How can you not think that having a controlled entry and departure method does not equate to border control?

The teacher's union is what is exactly wrong with education.
Disband the union and start over.
Unless we can bill Mexico, quit educating them in our schools, send illegals kids to tents on the weekend.
10k kids with one teacher. More than what they get at home IMO.

Nothing 'namby-pamby' in Hayworth's tome
By Carrie Sheffield
In his new book, Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R-Ariz.) says that White House adviser Karl Rove accused him of racism when the congressman expressed his disdain for a proposed U.S.-Mexico agreement that would prevent double-taxing citizens from both countries for Social Security.
The president thanked me for being candid and said he would consider my views, Hayworth writes. But Rove became somewhat exasperated and spluttered, You just dont want to help brown people, do you?

Bush doesn't either--just to do away with it.

I don't think the misquote did any actual harm to the truth. Both are insulting accusations of racism. The effect is the same. In fact, as I indicated, the actual quote offends me more.

I do see your point, but I am not persuaded that the number of illegals would go down with an expantion of the guest worker program, which already exists by the way.

What's Bush's plan to FIX the BORDER?
He has a plan to make it easier to import cheap labor, but what's his plan to FIX the border?
What legislation has he submitted to massively increase the number of Border Patrol Agents?
What legislation has he submitted to build a physical barrier (fence, wall, or whatever you want to call it)?
What legislation has he submitted to increase punishment and penalties for illegal border crossers?
What legislation has he submitted to crack down on employers of illegals?
Bush doesn't want to FIX the Borders.
