What Karl Rove Should Tell La Raza
Human Events ^ | 07/10/06 | The Human Events View

Posted on 07/10/2006 5:42:12 PM PDT by garbageseeker

White House adviser Karl Rove is scheduled to speak tomorrow at the annual conference of the federally funded, left-wing, open-borders-advocacy group, the National Council of La Raza.

If he does not want his speech to look like an act of appeasement, he should confront La Raza on its opposition to commonsense policies designed to secure both U.S. borders and U.S. pocketbooks.

La Raza, which means “The Race” in Spanish, has denounced as “horrendous” and “appalling” the House immigration bill passed in December, which was sponsored by Judiciary Chairman James Sensenbrenner (R.-Wis.) and supported by the overwhelming majority of House Republicans. The bill, which calls for tough worksite enforcement of immigration laws and 700 miles of border fencing, was condemned by La Raza as a “laundry list of mean-spirited and intrusive provisions concocted by the most radical immigrations restrictionists in Congress.”

Will Rove defend the immigration reforms passed by President Bush’s party in the House and tell La Raza that House Republicans are neither “mean-spirited” nor “radical”? He should. House Republicans deserve Rove’s support.

Nothing overly dramatic about calling attention to a US Senator's attempts to trash the Constitution.

What race are they talking about?

Mexicans use the term "race" (La Raza) in the same context that 19th Century Americans used the term "Anglo-Saxon Race".

To the Mexican, the term "La Raza" refers to the Mexican Mestizo "race" which had its origins sometime around 1515 A.D., given or take three years.

In 1511, fifteen Spanish sailors were shipwrecked in Yucatan and captured by the Mayan. A few were served for dinner, others died but two of them survived, including one Gonzalo Guerrero who became a military advisor to a Mayan chieftain and had married a rich Mayan woman and had had children with her.

When Cortez landed in Cozumel, he heard about these two Spanish survivors and sent messangers inviting them to join him. One survivor joined Cartez and became a translator. However, Guerrero declined saying, "Look at my beautiful children, look at my beautiful wife. And how could I ever go back to Spain looking as I do?" He'd been extensively tattooed by then, in recognition of his achievements on the battlefield.

Guerreos children were the first Mexican Mestizos (people of mixed European and indigenous non-European ancestry).

Today, Mexico's population is approximately 60% Mestizo, 30% pure Indian and 9% white.

The Mexicans consider the Mestizo to be "the Mexican race", consider Guerrero's children to be "the first Mexicans" and consider Guerrero to be "El Padre del Mestizaje".........literally, "The Father of the Mestizo Race".

Monument to Gonzalo Guerrero, his wife Ixpilotzma and their children, the first "Mexicans".

Regardless of the use of the term "race" in either a moder-day anthropological context or as a cultural heritage context, the fact remains that the opposition to illegal aliens is not based on race but on the fact that illegal aliens are making a mockery of our national core value of the Rule of Law.

I don't post to you anymore sink. I only post to people I believe graduated junior high school, and I would have to see the transcript. Go post to someone with a lower threshold of tolerance. This accusation is the lowest you have ever pulled. Goodbye, and good luck.

You don't post to me, yet this is the fifteenth time in the last week you didn't post to me.

steviejack, you overvalue your own intellect. And, your tolerance of any level of mayhem as long as you agree with the poster indicates a willingness to look the other way when it suits your purposes.

Goodbye until the next time you post to me when you don't post to me.

It is. Karl Rove is speaking at a "fifth columnist" group living here in America that is anti-American and promotes a "war" with anyone who is not bronze. They promote the concept of Aztlan. The organization promotes the entire southwest be ceded to Mexico. He should resign and Senator Brownback should resign.

Did I mention that I object to Karl Rove speaking at a La Raza love fest and that I object to our government funding these racist ideologues to the tune of 15.2 million dollars?

No argument from me. I concur.

That's why I'm curious about where that number came from. In addition the GOP candidates for AG and Governor here are all really pushing that the border has to be sealed (in Arizona)... which, BTW, Sheriff Joe is doing a pretty good job all on his own with his posse'.

To educate the citizens of Mexico can only be beneficial to this society. These people immigrate to this country: they come here to stay, and they are not going back. May as well, we have a high rate of educated immigrants than to have a high rate of uneducated immigrants. The more educated people we, as a nation, have the more powerful this nation will be. You do not want to have a group of uneducated people as your neighbors? Do you? thank you.

dummest

Since you're waving your cerebral capabilities around like a phallic symbol, are we to take it that this is a brand-new spelling for "dumbest" that we're not in on just yet?

The aforementioned has been a paid political announcement by the National Education Association.

The Pence plan does indeed seem to be a good middle ground.

I applaud your evaluative acumen as it approximates mine.

Seriously, you seem to be able to leave any bias behind you in your judgments.

Pence proposes to take the border security measures from HR 4437 and blend them with a guest worker program.

Neat, huh?
