I don't mind it being 77 inside here on days when it is 100+ outside, but 85 wouldn't work for me by choice at all.

You mean $80 a month?
Between hot in the summer and cold in the winter, that can be a tough effort.

I'm back for a few minutes. I think I'm going to go to bed soon (and it's only 10:30!).
I finally got around to making dinner about an hour ago - chicken pot pie.
For some odd reason, I have a craving for cantaloupe now.

Scottys Beam-Up
Scotty got his beam-up. Im sure it went quite well.
Theres just no way an engineer would ever end in He!!.
Oh, my, the consternation! The divvils would be glum,
As after only minutes there, the broken things would Hum!
That AC that was useful just for making He!!ish noise,
Would soon be working smoothly, and no Freon it employs.
The water taps would flow again, and fevered thirsts would slake,
And Charons boat could cruise about, out on a gentle lake.
The lifts would be put in order, and commerce could resume,
That backlog of requests for ice was reaching to the moon!
The problem this engenders, (and who the devil cares?)
Is that the engineer might then check out the stuff upstairs.
Im sure that hed be welcome, and glad to see his mates,
But I just know hed soon be putting oil upon those Gates!
Hed want to swing them wide, Im sure, to bring a truck though there.
Cause with his eye for trouble, even Heaven needs repair!

There's not much winter here, so my power bills then are around $25. I can put on enough to keep warm, but there is a law against taking off enough to keep cool...;o]

I did have watermelon in my salad, but NO cantaloupe today.
My actual dinner was a couple of bananas since I ate large earlier and I don't want to go out again.

(I'd say I missed ya, but that'd be untrue... I NEVER MISS)
The Book Of Foreshadowed Sorrows
Tales III and IV
The Leaving. Or 'The Door, Once Closed.'
He hurried homeward in the gentle rain, the memory of happier times fresh in his mind.
Times when he'd be glad for the rain, times when he'd have been dancing in the rain laughing and smiling, with her.
Now there was silence, icy glares across the room, making it hard to breathe.
Rarefied air stealing the warmth from every experience, just as the rain stole the warmth from his hands now.
Where once he'd felt joy to be with her, where once it'd leap in his chest from the heat of her eyes, now his heart went dead underneath her gaze.
He checked his pace, inhaled slightly as if steeling himself for the inevitable, and opened the door.
The groaning of the hinges were the sound of a hungry tomb...
"And WHERE were you?" the voice was so different now, had it actually ever held compassion?
Had that voice ever truly shown true feeling?
He shook his head clear and shuffled on his feet.
How different things truly were, now that he was trapped.
Caged, like a disgraced trophy, fit only to be gloated over and mocked before other adventurers over brandy and cigars.
Taken out and displayed, forced to dance and perform parlor tricks for the amusement of those who had neither the warmth or the charm of a plague bacillus.
Greatly he'd loved her, in vain he'd strived.
Now he would pay for the love he'd dared to give her.
Cold wings and cold winds bespoke of her true nature.
He was overmatched with a fool's forlorn hope of survival.
But he was a fool with a plan, a small token act of defiance before he was utterly destroyed.
The papers in his pocket felt dreadfully heavy on a sudden and he shifted uncomfortably under their mystifying weight.
His silence seemed to encourage her to begin her belittling tirade, as she usually did regardless of his speech or lack thereof.
In response to her barbed words, he merely turned and grabbed his coffee mug before heading up the stairs.
"And WHERE are you going now? Are you going to go sulk like a chastised little boy?" she actually giggled at her choice of words, convinced of her superiority and cleverness.
He packed what few things he did own in his two suitcases and dreaded the fast approaching moment that he knew he had to face, that he must face or die in misery.
Looking out the window, he strangely drew comfort from the sparrow outside looking back at his quick glance.
As it flew away, he felt that he too would soon be as free as the sparrow was.
But first things first.
He carried his luggage, what precious little of it that he owned, and walked down the stairs towards the freedom that beckoned tantalizingly close.
Her voiced giggled and cracked in the kitchen, the sound of the dragon in its lair.
Setting the suitcases down, he reached into his pocket and pulled out the papers, his shining lance with which to slay the dragon that had wreaked havoc on his village, his life.
His dreams stretched out before him, a dizzying heady swimming sensation crackled through him in jagged lightning streaks as he rounded the corner.
He so desperately wished his dreams would turn into the 'real', instead of her smile as she tore him apart.
Her eyes met his, and an eternity passed before she even seemed to notice his actual existence.
"Oh, the little boy has dried his eyes and thinks he is man enough to try another round?"
His response was to smile and set the papers before her, turn smartly on his heels, and walk back out of the kitchen with a straighter back than he'd had upon entering.
Her shrieks were the sound of the dragon in its death throes, thrashing its lair to chaos in its self destructive agony.
He smiled at her through the kitchen doorway, picked up his suitcases, and walked out the door a free man.
And with a shattered heart she watched the only life she'd ever had walk out the door.
Once the door shut, it was far too late, far too futile, the thud was the death knell of her world to her, but she said it anyway.
Said it to the ghosts of what she'd had.
Said it to the receding back of the man she'd sworn to love into eternity.
Said the words she should have said many years before, that might have saved her marriage.
"I'm sorry! Sorry! ......... But... I... loved you."
That door was shut to her forever now.
The finality of her banishment from his life sank in.
The paramedics would find her barely conscious a week later, staring at the only thing of his that he'd left behind...
...his dented wedding band.

Welcome to the Undead Thread II.
It's been rather slow of late, due to server problems, I think, but you're welcome to come in and make yourself at home. We have a pretty nice place here...you'll find the bar is well-stocked, (because we make most of the potables ourselves) and the kitchen is always open.
You may want to take a guide with you into the lower corridors, "just in case"...*ahem* We aren't really sure what's down there, but some people haven't come back...;o]

I didn't want to brag several nights ago when a serious prayer request was posted, so I'm doing it now.
***WARNING - BRAG ALERT***
On Tuesday (7-19), this thread surpassed a huge milestone. That milestone was the 100,000th Undead post. The first UT had 65,534 posts (the max), so the second UT was begun. But to reach 100,000 total "Undead" posts, this thread had to get to 34,466.
65,534 (1st UT) + 34,466 (UT2)= 100,000
Guess who got that post? ;-)
Oh, by my calculations, the 200,000th UT post will be post #3,398 of UT4.
