During the experiment, 26 participants each sat with their eyes closed in a dark, quiet chamber lined with electrical coils. These coils manipulated the magnetic field inside the chamber such that it remained the same strength as Earth’s natural field but could be pointed in any direction. Participants wore an EEG cap that recorded the electrical activity of their brains while the surrounding magnetic field rotated in various directions.
...Joseph Kirschvink, a neurobiologist and geophysicist at Caltech, and colleagues studied alpha waves to determine whether the brain reacts to changes in magnetic field direction. Alpha waves generally dominate EEG readings while a person is sitting idle but fade when someone receives sensory input, like a sound or touch.

i dunno. no expert but would the earth magnetic field be constant while brain waves be cyclical? not unlike the difference between AC and DC, but in the magnetic realm instead of the electrical realm?
Had an older friend (passed on for several years) who was a dowser. He tried teaching it to me but I just didn’t have the knack. He however could find water like nobody’s business.

Since the first single cell organism people have evolved in an oscillating magnetic field called the “Schumann resonance”. The entire human nervous system is an electrical system. All cell metabolism relies on electron flow at proper energies. Chaos theory dictates that molecules and electrons require a “biasing frequency” to make changes. The Schumann resonance is our native biasing frequency.

Yep... A lot of the oldtimers claimed to have this ability. There were several as I was growing up who claimed to find Gold this way. Always thought it was strange considering Gold is non-ferrous and not magnetic. But then metal detectors still work to read Gold...
Magnetic north is usually pretty easy for me, I seldom get disoriented in that regard, just “know” where it is without having to think about it. There are some places where I have problems with that, though. Minneapolis is one of them.
