What Karl Rove Should Tell La Raza
Human Events ^ | 07/10/06 | The Human Events View

Posted on 07/10/2006 5:42:12 PM PDT by garbageseeker

White House adviser Karl Rove is scheduled to speak tomorrow at the annual conference of the federally funded, left-wing, open-borders-advocacy group, the National Council of La Raza.

If he does not want his speech to look like an act of appeasement, he should confront La Raza on its opposition to commonsense policies designed to secure both U.S. borders and U.S. pocketbooks.

La Raza, which means “The Race” in Spanish, has denounced as “horrendous” and “appalling” the House immigration bill passed in December, which was sponsored by Judiciary Chairman James Sensenbrenner (R.-Wis.) and supported by the overwhelming majority of House Republicans. The bill, which calls for tough worksite enforcement of immigration laws and 700 miles of border fencing, was condemned by La Raza as a “laundry list of mean-spirited and intrusive provisions concocted by the most radical immigrations restrictionists in Congress.”

Will Rove defend the immigration reforms passed by President Bush’s party in the House and tell La Raza that House Republicans are neither “mean-spirited” nor “radical”? He should. House Republicans deserve Rove’s support.

Swore my oath of citizenship on July 4th, 1976

Congratulations. What a marvelous day for you.

I became an American by birth but my great grandparents entered the US with out papers. They came to America from Poland in the early 1900's. They didn't speak a word of English and therefore swore no oath. They had no authorization from Poland to leave and no authorization from the US to come. They lived in a closed community of other Polish immigrants in Steven Point, WI. My grand father grew up speaking both Polish and English. He lied about his age to enlist and fight the Japs in WWII. His children spoke almost no Polish.

I think it takes a generation for many families to acculturate to America. I see little difference between the illegal immigrants of yesterday and the illegal immigrants of today. As long as they are coming to work I don't understand why they are restricted from coming. Under our current laws, today's illegals would not have any hope of entering legally. Some mechanism must be created to allow workers to enter legally.

I became a Republican shortly after I started paying taxes. In high school socialism was an interesting idea, but when I had to pay for it, the appeal dwindled.

Does that mean you think it is okay for a Venezuelan company to buy out the only company making voting machines ...

Out of curiosity, what was the company?

"The only NEED being filled by a guest worker program is the NEED for cheaper labor."

Labor, period.

We have millions of illegals working in the country, and yet we are at nearly statistical zero unemployment.

I'll tell you something else, maybe you like the idea of your kids or grandkids working in poultry slaughter houses, doing roofing work, or lawn maintenance, and working their way up to a crappy job from there, but not me. I'm working so that my kids will NOT do those jobs...I already did it for them.

So, if you want to send me your son or grandson to cut my grass, I pay $20 a cut, and that includes weed eating, edging, and clean up.

I did those jobs. Ya gotta start somewhere, Luis.

Who knows, it might do your kids good to spend a few years laying carpet or concrete finishing. What better way to motivate them to seek a better life?

I do believe I clearly stated I don't want those illegals to be citizens unless they go through the INS hoops.
No cuts.
No cheating.
No BS, just wait their turn.
And yes, my heart does go out for a people who will never have what I would consider a decent life unless they leave Latin America. I even admire their gumption and grit a bit.
But, they ally with Democrats, the Party of Treason and Abortion, so any sentimental thoughts get washed away in a heartbeat.

Sequoia which is owned by Smartmatic which was bought by Venezuela. There is a laundry list of problems with those machines and they are very easy to tamper with without any kind of proof they were tampered with. Here is an interesting link with more info:

Thanks! I was familiar with Sequoia but hadn't followed the recent acquisitions.

California has/had Sequoia machines with disturbing ties. The Sec of State pushed for e-voting, then pushed for a bond measure to fund them. Upon leaving office shortly thereafter, he went to work for Sequoia. Lots of stench surrounding Sequoia from early on, IMO.

There's nothing wrong with teaching ones' children the responsibilities of lawn care. If you are creative you can make a lesson out of it each time they cut the grass or make a competition out of it, it's up to you and your imagination. Geometry, horticulture, chemistry, mechanical upkeep and care of tools etc. Lots of good solid life's lessons can be learned from just cutting the lawn.

"There's nothing wrong with teaching ones' children the responsibilities of lawn care."

That's not what I'm talking about...I want you to tell me that you have no problem with your kid making a career out of cutting grass, then send him to me to cut mine.

My kids will not lay carpet, I'll let your kids lay the carpet in my kid's houses.

"Starting" means crap, employers can't rely on people who view their jobs as simply something to do until you graduate.

Your kids are in for a real rude awakening, with a dad like you convincing them they're oh so much better than those lousy Messicans.

Did you make your career out of cutting grass ot did you just do it to earn a little money?
My Dad made a VERY good living out of cutting grass. Raised 3 kids, bought a ten acre ranch in California and lived to 90.

racist?

I didn't mention race, the subject only came up because you think in those terms.

My kids ARE in a better position than newly arrived immigrants or illegal aliens, and if yours aren't, they're the ones in for a rude awakening.

You said that you didn't want your children doing manual labor and moving up in the job market. Manual labor obviously has to be done, so you think that immigrants and not native born citizens should do it. That is racist whether you intended for it to be or not.
