White House adviser Karl Rove is scheduled to speak tomorrow at the annual conference of the federally funded, left-wing, open-borders-advocacy group, the National Council of La Raza.

If he does not want his speech to look like an act of appeasement, he should confront La Raza on its opposition to commonsense policies designed to secure both U.S. borders and U.S. pocketbooks.

La Raza, which means “The Race” in Spanish, has denounced as “horrendous” and “appalling” the House immigration bill passed in December, which was sponsored by Judiciary Chairman James Sensenbrenner (R.-Wis.) and supported by the overwhelming majority of House Republicans. The bill, which calls for tough worksite enforcement of immigration laws and 700 miles of border fencing, was condemned by La Raza as a “laundry list of mean-spirited and intrusive provisions concocted by the most radical immigrations restrictionists in Congress.”

Will Rove defend the immigration reforms passed by President Bush’s party in the House and tell La Raza that House Republicans are neither “mean-spirited” nor “radical”? He should. House Republicans deserve Rove’s support.

Problem...there are by any account over eleven million people in this country illegally, there's NO WAY that we will ever deport them all.

If you, a white person in the real world,called a Hispanic "brown person" you will not get away with that either. They are both racial slurs. Why should Karl Rove get away of calling a Hispanic a "brown person"?

You're not controlling the borders that way, your cluttering up the courts with useless cases that will simply give continued employment to lots and lots of lawyers. Meanwhile the illegals will continue to come in.

You need to face the fact that you are not interested in solving this problem, you need this issue to further the political agenda of your chosen politicos.

Historically, every study shows that the best way to control illegal immigration, is to set a guest worker plan in place. You want a fence, yet your own statement betrays the fact that you would not allow a fence to deter you from entering the country illegally.

The Great wall of China is so large that it can be clearly seen from space...yet, it did not stop the Mongols.

As I understand your thinking, then they do have a right to break our laws, then be allowed to vote as a reward?

As to the 'why', I believe abortion is murder of an innocent person. I know, not cool, and politically incorrect, but one must think of where they are going to spend eternity.
