I'm surprised you don't own a little generator for back up.

That's because one of these days we plan to buy a larger generator to run most of the house, like manyh of our neighbors do. The catch is the water heater and the oven are both electric (we installed a gas furnace), and getting gas to those locales is expensive.

We don't get snow often, but in winter we do lose power a lot. Though rarely for more than a few hours.
