The feast day of Saint Helena, the mother of Constantine, is commemorated by Catholics on August 18. Aside from her role as matriarch of the Constantinian dynasty, Helena is most remembered today for her finding of the True Cross of Jesus Christ. This discovery took place during Helena's celebrated pilgrimage to the Holy Land near the end of her life, during which time she undertook the task of uncovering the sites associated with Christ's life and passion and the building of commemorative shrines. Eusebius Pamphilus, Helena's contemporary and bishop of Caesarea Maritima, records many of Helena's deeds during this trek....

We talked to Johnson about his career and a particular four-legged patient that ingested cocaine. What inspired you to become a researcher? I was introduced to the One Health Initiative during my undergraduate studies, which...

Has anyone noticed the incredible scrutiny that left-wing propaganda bureaus (formerly known as “news media”) give to every little disease outbreak?Let’s take measles, for example. It’s a virtually harmless childhood disease. You get measles once, and you’re immune for life. When I was a child, whenever any of our friends got the measles, it was time for a slumber party. All the kids who weren’t immune from previous outbreaks got the measles, and stayed home from school for a few days. Our parents planned it that way. Development of the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine in the 1970s put an end to this “abusive”...

Free citizens take risks for better health. Tim Friede let venomous snakes bite him roughly 200 times, suffering anaphylactic shocks, and spending four days hospitalized in a coma. But this wasn’t a suicide attempt. He was seeking immunity to all snake venom, so that his blood could be used to create a universal antitoxin. The Centivax startup reports promising results from an early version of an antitoxin based on Friede’s blood. The FDA does not ban people from letting snakes bite them, so Friede had the freedom to be bitten. His choice was focused on the greater good, as was Jonas...

President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky put on friendly faces in front of the world’s media in the Oval Office Monday — avoiding a replay of their ugly spat from February — as the American leader attempts to hammer out a peace deal in eastern Europe. Trump, 79, reflected approvingly on the fact that Zelensky, 47, chose to wear a military-style suit in a sign of respect — ditching his usual camoflauge wardrobe, and both leaders handled occasionally hostile press questions without clashing. Zelensky said there were “two parts” that Kyiv needs as part of any peace deal, including...

Priscilla Presley has hit back at a bombshell $50million lawsuit claiming she 'pulled the plug' on daughter Lisa Marie's life support to regain control of the Presley estate. Elvis Presley's widow, 80, is being sued by former business partners Brigitte Kruse and Kevin Fialko, who allege she 'masterminded' a scheme to defraud them and exploited Lisa Marie's 2023 death - claims Presley slammed as 'shameless and salacious' in a statement to the Daily Mail. The bombshell fraud and breach of contract lawsuit filed on Monday claims that 'opportunist' Presley 'clung' to Lisa Marie as the sole heir of Elvis' estate,...

Federal prosecutors allege she would activate the stolen bank-issued cards online and use...

Environmental psychologist Robert Gifford claims firing an overreaction to 'a clear mistake'The University of Victoria (UVic) has fired one of its longest-serving professors after complaints he sexually harassed two women — including a graduate student. In his 45 years at UVic, Robert Gifford pioneered the burgeoning field of environmental psychology — drawing students from around the world to study topics like climate change anxiety and the interplay between human beings and their surroundings. But according to a pair of recent Labour Relations Board (LRB) decisions, the 78-year-old was fired last summer after an investigation found "repeated harm to junior scholars"...

Ultraviolet observations suggest that some heavy white dwarf mergers might be masquerading themselves. A white dwarf interacting with a red giant. Is this how this white dwarf formed? We do not know yet. Image credit: NASA, ESA, STScI, Ralf Crawford (STScI) Astronomers report the finding of a unique new object that doesn’t fit with categories that were only established in the last few years. They have observed an ultra-massive white dwarf with an outer layer of hydrogen and helium, 10 billion times thinner than other white dwarfs. This object is believed to be the product of a past merger event....

A few words, said the right way, can help you run faster. Not next month or after a few training sessions, but immediately. A study with elite athletes in their teens found that simple, environment-focused word cues instantly improved sprint speed over a distance of at least 20 yards. The effect of using these word cues was an increase of about three percentage points, a change that typically takes weeks of hard work and practice to achieve. The study was led by Dr. Jason Moran at the University of Essex, working with Tottenham Hotspur’s academy. It tested how phrasing shapes...

Amazing. Natalie Jean Beisner @NJBeisner “You can give every low-income black American a $50,000 ‘reparations’ check—and it’s not going to fix anything. It’s not going to increase the median household income in ten years. We had the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882—basically put them under apartheid here in the United States. Yet they now have the highest median household income. How is that possible? How come they don’t complain and feel consistently entitled to demand reparations?” VIDEO: https://x.com/i/status/1957121369227038825 I think the only racism we've actually seen, recently, systemic racism that we've seen is the application of systemic racism against white...

A teacher in Washington, D.C., praised President Donald Trump’s crackdown on crime because it ensures that the nation’s capital is “safe” and “secure.” Trump’s federal takeover and deployment of the National Guard has led to nearly 400 arrests since Aug. 11, Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed. In response, Elliot Reed told Fox LOCAL that Trump’s crackdown is assuring him that action is being taken to keep Washington safe. “I think it’s a good thing because it actually reinforces the fact that America is secure, safe [and] stable,” Reed said. “As a moderate, as a centrist, I think something needs to...

VIDEODid James Comey suddenly become a bizarre Taylor Swift fan like the Liberal Pink Hat Lady or did he have an ulterior motive for his recent wacky video? Brian Craig, co-host of the Steve Kane radio show, thinks that Comey might have been sending out coded messages to his Russiagate co-conspirators such as John Brennan and James Clapper. If Brian is right, perhaps the FBI needs to employ the services of a Taylor Swift codebreaker. Hey, who better to perform that task than the Liberal Pink Hat Lady? Just have an FBI agent pose as a Taylor Swift fangirl and...

On Monday, August 18 the California Senate Appropriations Committee is slated to hold a hearing on a bill that would ban the sale of Glock handguns; the final step before the bill could hit the Senate Floor. AB 1127 has already cleared the lower chamber in the California statehouse, and is almost assured of passage in the Senate as well. Still, supporters of the ban aren't taking anything for granted. Ahead of tomorrow's hearing former Los Angeles prosecutor Mike Feuer has penned an op-ed backing the ban, which would be the first of its kind if enacted into law. "Machine...

Kentucky’s recent passage of House Bill 4, which eliminates “diversity, equity, and inclusion” programs at public universities and colleges, represents a crucial step toward restoring meritocracy, academic freedom, and intellectual diversity to higher education in the Bluegrass State. The bill was passed in the 2025 legislative session over the veto of Democratic governor Andy Beshear, who predictably claimed that its supporters were motivated by “hate.” In fact, HB 4 provides a necessary corrective to years of institutional overreach that has discriminated against students, stifled open inquiry, and punished dissenting voices on campus. The case of Dr. Allan Josephson exemplifies this...
