Katie Holmes might have distanced herself from the Church of Scientology, but few could doubt her dedication to egg-based sauces, as was shown this week with her becoming the face of Hellmann’s Mayonnaise. The actress posed next to a massive cake shaped like a Hellmann’s jar at the company’s 100th birthday on Pier 84 in New York. Going a little off message, Holmes told USA Today about the non-mayonnaise-centric dishes she likes to cook, saying she ‘flourishes at pancakes.’ ‘I love food. I’m working on being a better cook,’ she explained. ‘I flourish at pancakes. I do sea bass, too....

By Susan Davis NEW ORLEANS–Republicans and tea party activists are fond of accusing President Barack Obama of being a socialist, but today party gadfly Ron Paul said they had it wrong. “In the technical sense, in the economic definition, he is not a socialist,” the Texas Republican said to a smattering of applause at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference. “He’s a corporatist,” Paul quickly added, meaning the president takes “care of corporations and corporations take over and run the country.”
