Gov’t Promoting Rice Noodles to Beat Grain Shortage The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is promoting rice noodles amid a worldwide shortage of other grain. An official said the ministry has started developing 100 percent rice noodle to increase the consumption of rice and curtail demand for wheat. Only 6,000 tons of rice was used to make noodles last year, but a total of 116,000 tons of other grains were consumed for the purpose.
