TOPEKA, Kansas — The Kansas Legislature finally rallied enough votes on Wednesday needed to override Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly’s veto of a bill banning transgender girls and women from girls and women’s sports at public schools and colleges. Lawmakers failed the last two years to override a veto to similar bills. Kansas now stands with 19 other states that have enacted laws limiting transgender girls to participating in sports that align with the gender they were assigned at birth. The Kansas law does not affect transgender boys. The Senate sealed the override with a 28-12 vote Wednesday afternoon. The House...
  • Why Is Mitch McConnell Collaborating With Democrats on Debt Ceiling Lifting? (because it was a phony battle all along)

Mitch McConnell, the Senate Minority Leader, has reached an agreement with Democrats to allow them to raise the U.S. debt ceiling. Avoid a sovereign debt default by raising the debt ceiling without relying on Republican votes. On Tuesday, the House of Representatives passed a bill that will allow Senate Democrats to raise the debt ceiling in a one-time procedure with just 51 votes. Before Democrats can proceed with raising the debt ceiling, that procedure will need to be approved by 60 senators, and McConnell has expressed confidence in his plan’s support. Some Republicans have chastised McConnell for agreeing to a...
  • ‘House Slave’: Left Treated Colin Powell Back Then The Same Way They Treat Elder, Scott Today

As the left now offers condolences for the death of Colin Powell it's clarifying to recall what the left was saying about him before he began openly voting Democrat. Back in 2002, when the Bush administration was leading the country, Powell received what today is a common racial epithet the left uses towards minorities on the right. That year, famed calypso singer Harry Belafonte called Powell a “house slave.” During an interview with a San Diego-based radio show, Belafonte slammed Powell as that “slave” who got the privilege of living and working in the master’s house. “There’s an old saying...

Florida’s COVID-19 response has been described as reckless, dangerous, and anti-science. Its Republican governor weathered months of scorn for loosening pandemic restrictions ahead of other state leaders. Its case counts, when on the rise, are often cited by critics as evidence that the entire Republican approach to managing the virus has failed. But drops in Florida’s case counts invite a fraction of the attention. New infections per 100,000 residents dropped to 12 over the past week, according to the New York Times coronavirus tracker. Over the past 14 days, cases dropped by 48%. Other states with far more expansive pandemic...
