RICHMOND, Calif. - A 14-year-old girl was killed, and her 11-year-old sister was critically injured in an early morning car crash in Richmond on Monday, police say. KTVU has confirmed the 14-year-old was a student at Richmond High School and her sister was a student at Ford Elementary School. The younger sister is awake but in the intensive care unit at a local hospital, according to the girls' aunt. Both recently came to the United States from El Salvador.

The driver of an SUV appeared to intentionally plow into a group of migrant workers â wounding all six â outside a Walmart in North Carolina Sunday afternoon, authorities said. The workers were all taken to a nearby hospital with various injuries after 1 p.m., though none of their wounds seemed to be life-threatening, the Lincolnton Police Department said in a news release. El Paso, Texas â Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts on Monday granted an 11th-hour request by more than a dozen Republican-controlled states to temporarily pause a lower court ruling that had ordered the end of a COVID-19 border restriction known as Title 42. In a one-page order on Monday, Roberts agreed to place on hold a November ruling that declared Title 42 illegal, pending further action from the full court.
