Hockey commentator Jeremy Roenick is firing back at NBC Sports, accusing his former employer of discriminating against him for being straight. Roenick was fired by NBC Sports back in February after he made sexually suggestive remarks about colleagues Kathryn Tappen and Patrick Sharp on a podcast. Now Roenick has filed a lawsuit against the network in New York Supreme Court, claiming wrongful termination and discrimination based on gender or sexual orientation, according to our sister site Variety. Roenick’s lawsuit states that figure skating commentator Johnny Weir made “colorful commentary” about skaters’ body parts for NBC Sports during the 2018 Winter...

The 2018 Winter Olympics have arrived and the spotlight isn't only on the athletes. The world is keeping a close eye on the skills, performance, and fashion of announcers, too, and on day one of competitions when people wanted a hot new Olympics meme Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski volunteered as tribute. The professional figured skaters showed up looking like announcers for The Hunger Games and Twitter was shook. The two got their hair did and busted out their best maroon sequins numbers for the big night. It was straight up Caesar Flickerman and Effie Trinket in that arena. Josh...

Isn’t it weird that in AMERICA; our flag and our culture offend so many people, but our benefits don’t???????????? Florida has had 119 hurricanes since 1850, but the last one was due to climate change???????????? Liberals claim to want to hear other points of view but are shocked and offended that there are other points of view?????????? I firmly believe that bad government comes from big government. I can’t quite figure out how you can wave the flag of another country, in AMERICA, but fight like hell if AMERICA wants to send you back there??? Only in AMERICA are legal...

American figure skater Johnny Weir has made quite an impression in Sochi working as a commentator for NBC during the Olympics. He frequently sports bright outfits, proclaimed his fearlessness in the face of Russia's anti-gay policies, and painted the town red (OK, pink) with fellow commentator Tara Lipinski. But on Wednesday, with his eyes on figure skating but his heart and mind on more pressing matters elsewhere, he used his fashion and his flamboyance to make a political statement. As only he can. Here is the statement:

Johnny Weir and Victor Voronov have decided to call it quits, the figure skating commentator announced on Twitter. "It is with great sadness that I announce that my husband and I are no longer together. My heart hurts, and I wish him well," he wrote yesterday. Even though this relationship didn't work out, Weir, 29, let his fans know he hasn't given up on love. "No matter what, I am a cheerleader of love and partnership and creation. I am sad yet I am thankful that I was loved and that I could love," he added. Voronov added that he...

While that hockey win over the Russians might have given us a nice morale lift the numbers don't lie- the Americans have unfortunately slipped to 7th place in overall medals at the 2014 Winter Games, this after a record-breaking dominance at Vancouver last go-round. We're all but mathematically eliminated from any kind of top finish already. You knew we were in trouble from the minute they rolled-out those collegiate-grunge opening ceremony outfits that Ralph Lauren came up with... and what's up with Pee Wee Herman in the announcers' booth? This Olympics so far has far too much of the dreadful...

Grateful Dead singer-guitarist Bob Weir collapsed during his performance with Furthur at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York last night. The band, which also includes bassist Phil Lesh, was closing out a nine show residency at the historic venue when the 65-year-old Weir stumbled and fell to the floor about a minute into the song “Unbroken Chain.” He was helped up by crew members and was able to complete the tune while seated in a chair before the band took a brief break. When they returned without him, Lesh told the crowd that Weir had strained his shoulder...

In a nod to the flood risk facing California's capital, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has earmarked $2.6 million to clear out sediment from the Fremont Weir, an 80-year-old structure that protects Sacramento from catastrophic flooding.

The unexpected expenditure is a response to a Department of Water Resources report, obtained by The Bee in November, that highlights how the Sacramento Valley faces increasing flood risk because the state isn't maintaining levees and weirs.

Twentieth Century Fox on Friday will release the first of what it hopes will be a series of movies about a courageous British naval captain named Jack Aubrey. But "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" is just about the opposite of the Hollywood norm for would-be movie franchises.
