A jury ruled Sept. 1 in federal court that two Sherwood police officers are guilty of subjecting a Sherwood man to unreasonable force during his arrest. Rodney Burrell of Sherwood sued officers Vernon Blocker and Scott McFarland for, according to his formal complaint, “unreasonable seizure in violation of his rights.” The case was heard in the U.S. District Court by District Judge William Wilson. Blocker and McFarland have together been charged $190,000 in compensatory and punitive damages, to be paid to Burrell.
