Earlier this year, as he lay in the hospital recuperating from major surgery in which he donated a kidney to his ailing wife, John O'Neill had no aspirations to literary success or political prominence. And if John Kerry had not a few weeks later surged to the front of the pack and in March sewn up the Democratic nomination for president, O'Neill may well have returned to his downtown Houston law practice and a comfortable life of relative obscurity. But the possibility that Kerry, a decorated Vietnam War veteran against whom O'Neill has held a personal grudge for more than...

John Kerry is not a hero. He built this facade with unabashed personal promotion, aided and abetted by a supportive liberal media ready and willing to repeat in print his gross exaggerations, distortions of fact, and outright lies about his abbreviated four-month, 12-day tour of duty in Vietnam. Until the Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth spoke up in press conferences, television ads, and with the now best-selling book, Unfit for Command, no one - not even the conservative media - seriously or effectively challenged the veracity of John Kerry's self-aggrandizement. Only now is his war-hero facade beginning to peel...

The widely repeated myth of "John Kerry, the Vietnam Navy Hero" is one of the most dishonorable and dangerous deceptions ever perpetrated upon the American public. Swiftly exceeding demand Heidi Benson Sunday, September 19, 2004 "I don't usually order Regnery titles," said Marcia Rider, co-owner of Capitola Books in Santa Cruz County. "If people want to come in and special- order them, fine." But while Rider was on vacation, an optimistic colleague ordered 35 copies of "Unfit." "We have 26 on hand," Rider said. They've sold just one copy since Sept. 1, and will return to the publisher those that don't sell. "We've got a bunch of them up on a very top shelf. Yesterday someone came in and put them face out," said Rider. "People...

Borders Union Employees Brag About Hiding ‘Unfit for Command’ September 16, 2004 – The Borders bookstore employees union (Note From Webmaster: Here is a copy of google cache displaying this page as it seems to have been taken offline .) online forum is an amazing look into the minds of booksellers. One section of the forum is specifically devoted to a discussion of how Borders employees deliberately hide copies of Unfit for Command or accidentally damage the books so they must be returned. One poster noted: “We’re ‘finding’ that most of the few copies we’re getting are damaged and need...

About 15 protesters gathered for two hours today outside the home of John O'Neill, a Houston attorney who co-wrote "Unfit for Command," a new book that questions Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry's military service. "Who in their right mind would attack a veteran who actually volunteered to go to Vietnam?" protester John Cobarruvias asked. "Attacking a veteran who went to war, who got shot at, is wrong." O'Neill wasn't home Saturday because his daughter was getting married. In a statement, he said he thought it would have been more appropriate for protesters "to read the book and then engage in...

I was at my local Samsclub today. When I walked in, I could not believe my eyes. They had two books on display, right at the front door. One was Dr. Phil's book, the other Kitty Kelley's Book. I went over to the book area and Unfit For Command was tucked in amongst other books, Bill Clintoon's on both sides of it. The sign on the end cap showed that Unfit For Command is the #1 Bestseller. They did not have Unfit For Command under the sign. The manager wasn't in, so I made a point of calling him when...

Borders UnionBorders Books - Unfit For Command Arabicon - Aug 21, 2004 - 07:17 AMPost subject: Unfit For Command Last night when one of our supervisors told a customer over the phone that we're sold out of Unfit For Command, the customer apparently heard either "don't have" or "don't carry". He said, "It figures you wouldn't have it, you're a liberal bookstore," then hung up. Later in the evening, another customer claimed to have heard on the radio that we wouldn't be re-stocking the title for the same reason. Leave aside that we bow to the almighty dollar like any...

Important Bookstore Bias Story! VERY IMPORTANT STORY! PLEASE PROMOTE! (BJM) Lucianne.s web sight (http://www.lucianne.com/) posted a VERY important story toda (9/15/04) about how workers in Border.s bookstores were working to prevent conservative readers from being able to obtain books.(http://www.bordersunion.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=1195) The post was an intra-cooperate blog on the Border Bookstore.s union web sight. The post line documents Border workers discussing how they were damaging copies of the book (Unfit for Command) and then returning them to the publisher, so that they would not be available for their “Neanderthal conservative patrons. And how they were hiding copies of the book and on...

(CNSNews.com) - Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry called the best-selling book Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry "a pack of lies" in an interview with syndicated radio and MSNBC TV host Don Imus Wednesday morning. "Look, it's a pack of lies. It's an absolute pack of lies," Kerry said about the book. " It's been proven to be a pack of lies, and I have no interest in reading it," Kerry told Imus in response to a question about whether Kerry had read the book by Vietnam veteran John O'Neill and Jerome Corsi. Kerry said...

Take a second to read through the astonishing postings (link below) on Borders unions website. As you will see... the attached postings are primarily from really annoyed liberals, and a couple of them refer to ongoing tactics to keep UNFIT FROM COMMAND away from the public. Here's one example: "We're 'finding' that most of the few copies we're getting are damaged and need to be sent back, so sad. Too bad, Bushies! Regnery needs to be more careful. I'm hearing from people at 2 other stores that this seems to be common. Why should we help destroy what's left of our...

Conservatives like to tell war stories-and refute them, a la the Swift Boat Vets-and some of those stories concern bookstores. And the people who work in them. Who tend to be….well, not exactly the most conservative-friendly people in the world. The bookstore leftist is more standard than the bookstore cat. And conservatives have often found these stores to be hostile territory. In recent weeks, reports have circulated that customers-or would-be customers-are having a hard time finding Unfit for Command, John O'Neill's anti-Kerry book. Conservatives have suspected that stores are keeping it from them, or that clerks are deep-sixing them, or...
