On Friday's News One Now on TV One, substitute host Michelle Bernard presided over a panel in which one guest asserted that the push to repeal ObamaCare by Donald Trump supporters is fueled by a desire for "eugenics" against minorities to bolster "white supremacy." She further claimed that there was a desire to "eliminate" and "annihilate" minorities. Neither host Bernard nor even the token Republican on the panel voiced any disagreement with her incendiary claims.

On Sunday's MSNBC Live with Alex Witt, after panelist Jennifer Grossman invoked Martin Luther King's historic "content of their character" statement, TV One journalist Roland Martin, in a demanding tone, requested a "favor": "Please don’t quote Dr. King." Apparently in Martin's world, only a black person like him can quote King, while a white person like Grossman can't. To her credit, Grossman pushed back hard: "I will quote Dr. Martin Luther king every single day and you won’t stop me."

Just across. BET and TV One apparently decided that with Barry O already pulling 90-95% of the black vote, they needn’t bother turning any precious airtime over to McCain. In fact, all four nights of the Democratic convention aired on both networks. The GOP convention didn’t air at all. Do note: Palin finished just shy of both candidates in total audience running on only six networks, two fewer than McCain and four fewer than Obama. Telemundo and Univision didn’t bother with night three coverage.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — TV One will cover the Democratic National Convention because — and only because — the party's nominee is African-American. And yet, oddly enough, some of the people who will be involved in that coverage took umbrage at the suggestion that the cable/satellite network is, um, covering the Democratic National Convention only because the nominee is Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. "Yes, Sen. Obama running for president is a huge deal at TV One as it is in the African-American community," said Johnathan Rodgers, the CEO of the network that, in his words, "targets African-American adults." According to...

Given Barack Obama's historic run for the Oval Office, African American-themed cable network "TV One" plans to break from its usual entertainment programming to provide extensive coverage of the Democratic National Convention in August. "Sen. Barack Obama running for president is a huge deal for TV One as it is for the African American community," said Johnathan Rodgers, president and CEO of TV One, a channel in about 40 million homes. "African Americans have fallen in love with his candidacy, his family … we will be covering the democratic convention all the time." But John McCain shouldn’t expect the same...

TV One, a television network aimed at African-Americans, launches Monday in an unusually high-profile way -- thanks to its powerful corporate parents, Comcast and Radio One. The network will be available on Channel 71 of Comcast's basic cable package in metro Atlanta. It aims to be a mature alternative to BET, targeting African-Americans over the age of 25. There will be an exercise show in the mornings, a talk show with Patti LaBelle, documentaries about well-known blacks and reruns of sitcoms like the 1970s show "Good Times." TV One is not the first network to go after the niche. Others,...
